It was 7 o'clock in the morning. Unlike the usual days wherein the atmosphere would be as quiet as a mouse, that day was filled with banters. Everyone in the house was up. The workers were moving to and fro, some carrying buckets of flowers, while others were carrying lightings. Deta stood beside the maid, on the second floor cross-checking the list that the maid was holding in her hand. She said hurriedly, "Order all of these really quick!" She paused the servant going downstairs as she asked, "Is Sam awake?" The servant replied, "Yes Ma'am, he was getting ready."
Deta was relieved that everything was going smoothly, everybody was awake, until her eyes laid on Myra's door. She closed her eyes as she prayed, "I hope she is up. She is the one who takes the most time to get ready!" She walked towards her room, but paused midway as the telephone in her bedroom started ringing. She quickly paced towards her room and attended the call. She couldn't wait to hang up the call which went as long as fifteen minutes. She cupped the mouthpiece as she saw the maid passing by her room. She whispered, "Susie, come in." Deta continued, "I am on an important business call. Go and wake Myra quickly!" Susie nodded her head and rushed to Myra's room.
Susie was hesitant to open the door, but understanding the urgency she pushed the door wide open when the knock was left unanswered. Deta's fear stood true as Myra was sleeping like a log. The quilt was half down the floor, while she was sleeping at the edge of the bed, could collapse at any moment. Susie ran by Myra's side. She started off with a whisper, "Myra Ma'am wake up. It's already 7:00." Some wrinkles appeared on her forehead as she grew worried. She raised her voice, but Myra couldn't get over her sleep. Susie stretched her hands to shift her in the middle of the bed, but paused midway as her mind unleashed a fearful past experience.
The ticking of the clock on the wall brought her to the present and without listening to her mind she stretched her hands to wake her up. Myra was in a deep sleep, but the sudden touch electrified her mind and a faint smile appeared on her face. She caught Susie's hand and pulled her to the bed, "Finally, you are here!" Susie kept her eyes shut, her throat went cold as her neck was locked by Myra's hug. She badly wished to scream, but she couldn't utter a word. Her blood ran cold as she could feel Myra's lips on her ears. Myra whispered, "Why do you leave me? I miss you so much Kevin! Visit me often!" Her pink lips pouted into a kiss.
Before she could kiss Susie, Susie nudged her really hard. Myra's eyes opened as she said, "Why are you nudging me so hard!" She froze for a moment as she saw Susie in her arms. She screamed out of shock and pushed her down the bed. Susie cried out in pain, "Why is it always me?" Seeing Myra's confused expressions, she said disgustingly, "This is not the first time you have hugged me this tight!" Myra turned pale. She couldn't digest what was going on!
Despite being knocked down, Susie was happy. Whenever she was hugged by Myra in her sleep, she would tell her flirty sentences. Susie would always keep away from Myra as she thought Myra was in love with her. But, hearing the name Kevin, she was relieved to know that Myra would assume her to be Kevin. Her smile disappeared as she grew inquisitive, "Ma'am who is Kevin?" Myra shuddered her eyes as she said annoyingly, "Who.. who the hell is Kevin? How would I know who he is?" Susie rose above the floor and was about to walk away, but her mind insisted to pause as she spoke, "But, you were imagining Kevin, in your sleep as if he is your…" Before she could complete, Deta rushed in, "Myra, I am glad you are up." Deta thought she would have to instruct her notorious daughter what was to be done, but what Myra spoke next made her wrong. "Yes mom, I will quickly get ready. Don't worry!"
Once Deta and Susie left her room, Myra dashed inside the washroom, shutting the door behind her. She stood in front of the mirror with her hands firmly gripping the basin. Although her eyes seemed to be stuck on her reflection, her mind was wandering in the past. Her eyes became watery as her mind clicked on her happy and sad times in the past. Even if she had some happy memory rambling in her mind, her lips were pouting as she knew that happy memory was temporary and darkness was permanent. She broke out, "Kevin! This name would never leave my lips. It was not my first relationship, but still I am ghastly affected. I have had a lot of relationships, but not a single one ever broke me down. Though he is not in my life anymore, I have my dreams filled with him! Why? Bella's curt words seem right, LOVE IS PAIN!"
Hearing her mom's shrill voice instructing the servants caused Myra to retreat from the past. She wiped her eyes and looked at herself in the mirror trying to bring in her cool attitude back, "What the hell is wrong with my eyes?" She pulled her eyes with her index fingers. "They are red! With these I will drive cute guys away! Gotta bring it back to normal." She turned on the tap. The sound of flowing water relieved her and she washed her eyes with water, took a napkin and patted her face dry. She was finding it difficult to bring her chill attitude back until a message popped up. Myra double tapped the screen and what she saw next left her wide eyed and her mouth fell agape as she saw a picture of a guy!
