Chapter 5 - Thomson's Grand Party

Bella hardly took fifteen minutes with her makeup. Myra's makeup kit was filled with countless products, however Bella managed to pull off a beautiful look by just using a few of them. Bella's gown made her look good, and her minimal makeup worked laurels with her gown. She had a thin layer of foundation over her skin, her thick eyebrows didn't really require any filling except for brushing. She wore a wing shaped eyeliner, and put on some mascara on her eyelashes crowning her eyes. Her cheeks were crimson red, but it was tough to say whether it was an effect of blush or her crush's thoughts running in her brain. She curled her shiny, straight hair with a curler and put on diamond studs and signed off by wearing a diamond necklace around her neck. She was thrilled looking at herself in the mirror. She was in love with her transformation. She grinned ear to ear. She sat on the bed and her grin faded away slowly as she flicked her laptop open and hurriedly read the email before Myra made her way out of the washroom.

Myra stood in front of Bella in her strapless black one-piece dress. It had a fine work of sparkling stone lines elongating to the middle. The bodycon dress was of knee length accentuating each and every inch of her slim body, with a thigh slit that made her look extremely sizzling. Myra twirled around and asked, "How do I look?" Bella was startled by Myra's beauty and fashion sense. She said, "You are looking sizzling with that dress on. You are an epitome of…" Myra cut in as she flung her hair with pride, "Okay okay, save these words for the final result. I am partly ready, I gotta do my makeup!"

Myra sat on the stool before the mirror and began with her makeup which took a bit longer than usual. She touched her face as she was impressed by the glow offered by the facemask. She did a full fledged makeup, using almost every product from her makeup kit. She smudged dark eyeshadow with the liner and applied it on her eyelids. The smoky eyes looked attractive, while her lips painted in black looked tempting. She curled her fringes and tied her hair in a side bun. She did contouring and applied some highlighter on her cheekbones to leave everyone, especially guys stunned by her sizzling avatar.

Bella praised her sister's makeup skills. Their lovely conversation was interrupted by a knock at the door. It was Susie asking them to come downstairs as the party was about to start. Bella had her wrist gripped by Myra's hand while her other hand clung the gown out of nervousness as it was her first time to step out at such a big occasion decked up from top to bottom. She had shredded her shyness to meet new people, thanks to her part time job that broke the cold ice of interacting with new people. She was confident to meet new business partners, but she contracted because of nervousness within her as she would be the focal point of attention. Everyone's eyes would be on her, as she is decked up pretty well.

On stepping out of their room, the girls spotted the pictures hanging by the walls adorned with beautiful lights. The staircase railing had beautiful lights and periwinkle flowers entwined with each other. They descended downstairs and Bella could feel the soft touch of flowers, that made her easy. As they went downstairs, they could see the entrance hall of the mansion with every corner adorned with beautiful flowers that rendered their sweet fragrance. The adorned entrance hall was waiting for people to arrive. Soft music was playing in the background that managed to calm her down. A few breathing exercises, clubbed with the music and Myra by her side enabled her to regain confidence.

They saw Deta, right near the photo frames making calls to people. She huffed, "This one has to be the last call. The guests will show up at any moment." Her brows relaxed, the wrinkles making their way to her forehead disappeared after the last call. She was all set to welcome the guests. In a few moments guests started arriving, while Myra squeezed Bella's hand out of excitement. She bounced off walls when she saw her best friend at some distance away from the main door. Bella looked at Myra confused, "The cute, sizzling guys haven't arrived yet." Myra didn't hear her Her gape was still at the figure who was walking at some distance away from the entrance. She loosened her grip around Bella's wrist as the girl approached closer. Bella couldn't figure out who the girl was until she entered the entrance hall that left her in dismay, while Myra set her hand free and rushed at the door to greet her best friend Hannah.

Hannah was dressed up in a white off shoulder mesh dress paired with black stilettos. There was no jewelry to block her collarbones. She had a burnt complexion, having several layers of makeup on to look fair. Her golden brown hair tumbled over her shoulders. Hannah was happy to see her friend after such a long time. Hannah's glossy pink lips quivered into a smile as she saw her friend, and tracing her quick footsteps gave a clear indication of how excited she was to meet her. Myra enveloped her into a tight hug, not caring about her makeup. Hannah hugged her back and said, "Your perfume is so refreshing." Myra brushed her friend's hair after the hug as she thanked her. Her friend took her hands as she said teasingly, "Girl, you took a big risk of wearing this perfume…" Myra's smile didn't leave her face as she knew Hannah was playing with her. Hannah continued, "It's gonna attract not only guys, but also girls, muahh…" Both the girls laughed.

The air at the party was filled with cheerfulness, with people spilling gossip, except for the bar parlor. Bella was seated at the extreme corner seat of the bar parlor with a glass of juice in her hand. Her sharp eyes glared at Hannah. Once her eyes were done with scrutinizing Hannah she gaped at both of them with her squinted eyes to find out what they were talking about so cheerfully. However, owing to the distance, she couldn't hear anything, her eyes could see them spilling gossip. She was worn out looking at the two best friends laughing and gliding cheerfully. Her eyes wanted to see something new. She placed the glass of juice at the counter while she began fiddling with her phone. But, her phone stayed with her for a few moments and she was bored again.

Bella glanced at the entire hall, where she could see Mr Jack talking with important clients, while her aunt Deta was busy with her bevy of ladies. Some guests were busy scrolling the messages on phone, while others stood before the achievement cabinet, having a look at various trophies that Thomsons won across national and then global conferences. Everybody was engaged in some way or the other except for Bella. She rose from her seat, caught one end of the gown and was about to walk up the staircase, but her footsteps paused as a hefty hand fell on her shoulder. She could see from the side that it was a muscular arm wrapped in the blazer!

Who was he?

Why did Bella dislike Hannah's presence?
