Rhys
Originally his purpose for climbing to the highest point of Redloslds with his buddies was to get his mind climb before the Ritual. However as he saw the fiery redhead walking down his path line and bumped into just saying a meekly sorry he just had to speak with her. After another one of their dog and cat conversation, she turned and left without his permission like always.
Nevertheless staring at her perky plump nice backside as she walked away. He tilted his head. Why did she have to be so fucking gorgeous? Everything about her was enchanting. Why in the world out of all people did she have to be his rival? But he could have sworn by the supreme being for a split second he saw, no he sensed desire. Like she wanted him, wanted to kiss him as badly as he wanted her.
" But do you really believe she has the power to become the Queen?" Eren his blond right hand man broke his thoughts.
He stood in silence. His mind remembering things of long past. Her training. Her force. Her speed. Her tenacity. All resilient. Years of devotion made her well known through Redloslds as a capable fighter. " I believe we shouldn't underestimate her." He spoke with regal sincerity as in the depths of his heart he prayed she would win. " Let's go back now."
" Rhys we just got here." Leo his younger brother pointed out. Indeed they had, but he need to get back to see the results.
Eren threw his arm over Leo shoulder, " Well, you know Leo his majesty has something important to attend to. He doesn't want to be late." Eren informed sassily as Rhys smiled, his best friend always just seemed to know him. " Aren't I right your majesty?"
Rhys rolled his eyes at the starky attiude knowing it was all fun and gaming, " I could excute you, you know that right?" He retorted as Leo scratched the back of his head.
" I know, but you won't." He said confidently as he continued, " Who else will be your advisor?Unless you want some mating time with the lionesses." He wiggled his eye brows, as Rhys nudged him in the chest, swiftly rubbing it afterwards.
Mating? No, No he wouldn't call it that. A spring of the moment, a fling, an entertaining time but mating was so much different. That is what he had heard. You can just mate with anyone but with the one you're meant to be with. The intertwined of body, soul, and mind. A moment beyond pleasure but absolute satisfaction and being one with that person, and forever bonded. That he had yet to experience. But soon he would have to find a queen.
A queen. But not just any queen, a queen who was his mate, his lover, his partner, his wife, and the mother of his children. Someone his people could love and accept as well. Which lioness would be perfect enough? Though all his mind could linger to was the hypnotic redhead. How good she would feel in his arms? Her soft skin against his. How would she call out his name. Damn, now he just wanted to heard his name escape her lips. Something he hadn't heard in a while, before she would address him by his name, but now he was King, she couldn't just call him as she pleased though he would allow it.
" Fuck." He growled internally, why the hell would he want something next to impossible? He could have any female he wanted. Any and all. Yet he called for her. Why her? What was it about her? Was it the fact she was indifferent to him? Or because they were rivals that fact it was forbidden, itching enough? All the questions, he had no answer too. That just made her peek his interest more.
Then he felt a hand on his shoulder looking at Eren would furrowed his brow, " Are you alright, Rhys? You look like you're about to burst." Eren made known that he was slipping up, and all for a wolf. He had to compose himself.
" Yes, I'm alright." He responded.
" Are you sure bro? Is it because of that she-wolf I'll just have to teach her a lesson." Leo bragged cracking his knuckles as he readied himself to run but was stop by Rhys hand on his chest.
He could not have that happen. Their families already were infamous for their feuding, he did not want to add anymore to it. In fact he wanted to end it if he could help it. " Don't Leo. Don't start trouble." He turned him down.
Leo eyes widened, " But why not? She offended you first, and you're clearly upset by it." He attempted to make his point.
Rhys shook his head, had this what it come down to? Just with one words, and they were all in the brink of war. " First, I'm not upset. Second, she has always been like that towards me and vice versa. And third, she has six brothers and her father is the Alpha King. We would be starting something I would not like to lose to, but rather not start it." He explained inspecting his brother as the flame of hunting disappeared as he crossed his arms. " Good, now let's go. "
They walked back to the ample city which was filled with noise as the citizens expected the fight for the throne. Entering into the marble stone amphitheater the crowd roared by his presence. Many people greeted and brow to him as he gave them a gentle smile or rose his hand to acknowledge them. Making his way to the front row where his seat stood next to an open seat meant for his mate but replaced by his mother, his father, and his brother on his right. Opposite to the seat of the Alpha King across the theater as he gazed up meeting the same silver eyes he had always seen but a bit tired and with slight crows feet appearing around the edges. King Lucien slightly bowed his head as he followed, a mutual sign of respect he never wanted to forget. Soon breaking the connection as his gaze landed somewhere else.
To the middle of the field, which was surprisingly almost filled.
All of the Alpha King's son had stood in there place. All six of them with their protruding chest and defiant gaze. Each with their own anticipation for taking the throne. Yet thinking a way of how to defeat one another before their father. " Must be tough." Rhys thought, when he had fought for the throne it was just him. His brother was too young, and he wanted to prove himself worthy. But now the stakes were higher, being six men verses a wild girl was going to be interesting.
Suddenly King Lucien stood up as the crowd simmered down putting his hand up," Thank you all for coming.Today we will see if there is someone worthy to be your king. Now is there anyone else who is willing to compete for my throne?" King Lucien questioned his eyes looking for something, for someone.
Rhys eyes gazed all over to catch a glimpse of the red one. His stomach turned waiting for her to commit to her word.
The crowd looked at one another uncertain if they was suppose to be anyone else, and King Lucien with hope in his eyes that someone would appear.
" Me!" A strong familiar feminine voice announced as all eyes focused on the entrance, Rhys eyes gleamed at Bree. And their she was proudly proclaiming her essence. Her right. Taking her time walking to the center red hair flowing in the wind identifying the only possibility of being her. Her brothers and the crowd stood with their mouths wide open. Unable to comprehend if it were possible. Her brother with creased foreheads as if she was insane.
A smile crept ed upon the older wolf face like he had anticipated it, " Very good my daughter. So be it. Let it begin!" He announced seating back down awaiting for it to begin.
Focusing his attention on her. Her stance was of a proud wolf. Showing Redloslds she would a true warrior." Good luck, my little wolf." Rhys wished as his eyes stayed on her.
Let's go! Who will win the fight! And Rhys definitely has a crush on Bree!
