Suddenly, the conversation between the two was interrupted by a shrill voice that pained the ear. Dan knew exactly who this was, but Axel took a longer time, only recognizing the person after turning around and seeing the face of the one person in high-school, whose face annoyed Axel.
It was Vex, who bullied both Axel and Dan in high-school for no reason, and by the end, he had escalated to physical abuse, at which point Dan called in his father who had a very 'passionate' meeting with the school principal and staff, after which Vex become as silent as a mute for the rest of high-school.
Vex was apparently absent yesterday since he was bunking school with some outside school friends. However, today, these friends were busy, and so Vex had nothing else to do but to come to school, if not for anything other than his minimum attendance.
Axel's interest immediately dropped to zero in this sort of clown, who stuffed his nose into other peoples' lives, and stirred up trouble everywhere, without having any sort of backing to support him.
He simply ignored the dude, and dragged Dan into the school building.
Seeing that he had been completely ignored in front of many people at school, Vex immediately got enraged. He took a few steps ahead and reached out to grab the shoulder of Axel, who was the weaker of the two, and stop him.
However, just as he was going to reach, almost like he had eyes on the back of his head, Axel skilfully stepped to the side, avoiding Vex, and continued walked with Dan. Naturally, he also sneakily placed his foot in the middle, tripping Vex in a way that no one around them could see.
Although his body was incredibly weak, he still had the KI level of a Rank 1 Trainee. This greatly increased his abilities. At the very least, it was enough to beat-up an idiot like Vex. However, why would he want to showcase to everyone how strong he was. Just like how, in the game, being on the leaderboard had too many downsides, showcasing your strength, while still being a trainee was nothing but asking for trouble.
Therefore, Axel did not use any KI, since this would be noticed by not just the countless sensors in the school to prevent those with KI from bullying those without, but would also be noticed by the teachers and possibly even reported to the federation. Although he would not face any issues for using KI, the federation would ask him countless questions and quite a few experiments if they figured out he suddenly became a KI user.
Instead of continuing to fight, Axel simply grabbed Dan, and began running away from, Vex, yelling as loudly as he could;
"HELP! HELP! He is trying to kill me! Murder! Murder!"
At this very moment, Vex, who clearly felt that he had been tripped by Axel, got up from the ground and began chasing Axel and Dan like an angry bull, completely ignoring what Axel was screaming.
To anyone seeing this comical scene, where Vex was chasing a fatty and a stick-figure, they might actually believe what Axel was screaming.
Soon enough, Members from the disciplinary committee appeared. Normally, bullying between non-KI users was not handled by them. However, since the situation had escalated to the extent that any more would ruin the name of the school and the committee, the students from the committee decided to take action.
Within moment, the crowd was dispersed, and Dan, Axel, and Vex was taken to the principal's office.
The members within the disciplinary committee were naturally KI users, and handling such a situation was a piece of cake for them.
"So, what do you have to say for yourself."
Axel looked at the principle, who he had rarely seen through his years in school, but did not feel the slightest bit of shame or remorse. He simply shrugged and said nothing. Dan, on the other hand was feeling like burying himself in a hole, and so did not speak.
"This is all his fault, principal! He tripped me, and then…" Vex began to protect himself, but he realised that no one saw he had been tripped, and the fact was that he had attacked first. Furthermore, neither Axel nor Dan fought back, just running away from him the entire time, dodging whenever he got closer.
In fact, he only now realised that the entire event, in the principal's eyes, was entirely his fault.
Looking up, Vex noticed that the principal was staring at him with squinted eyes, clearly, the principal thought everything was his fault.
"I-" before Vex could say anything more, he was cut off by the scruff voice of the moustached principal.
"No. This sort of behaviour cannot be accepted in this school. The disciplinary committee members already informed me about what exactly happened. You started it all, Vesicon Xerces, this is the second and last time such an incident will be coming from you, or else I will be forced to inform your parents about it. And you, Axel Berg, and Dan Kodak, I did not expect such behaviour from you. Screaming such uncultured rubbish at the gates of our school? You two have incredible academic results, why not focus on that instead of trying to ruin the name of our school."
After this long monologue, where none of the three students present interrupted, the principal took in a deep breath and sighed, before waving his hand; signalling the students to leave.
None of the three spoke, however, as soon as they left the room, Vex turned around and glared daggers at Axel and Dan. However, Axel did not care about that, instead, he turned to look at Vex, and with an amused smile on his face, he whispered,
"Vesicon? Ah, a fitting name"
Before bursting into silent laughter and walking away. This was the first time he had learned of Vex's full name, or at least, remembered hearing it, and it was a truly hilarious turn of events. Although he did not know what the name meant, since Vex went through the effort of making others change it, he was sure it was something stupid or embarrassing
