The young ones danced and sung away to the music that was played on Derek's laptop. The twins also drowned in the excitement, all their worries held far away. Twins were a very rare occurrence in the dragon kingdom, and either one or both were killed at birth, as it was said that they were one dragon, divided into two.
From a very young age, Emeralda and Esmarald were considered a bad omen, and their parents were usually put down in front of other for keeping them both; but what could Marina do? One was a blue eyed, blue haired girl, and the other was a green eyed, blue haired boy and from the moment they held their mothers hand, Marina knew she was going to beat all odds and keep them both, what the others believed can go into the depth of the volcanos, for all she cared.
Fortunately, when she told Seavillton about her decision, he supported her like the best mate he was. He had always wanted two children, a boy and a girl, and the old wise dragon God's had given him his most heartfelt desire, then who was he to throw it away?
Disaster struck one fine morning when they were playing near the lake, and their toy was taken away by another young kid. When they asked for it back, he threw the car into the water, which angered them so much so that they did what no child had ever done before.
As they both jumped into the water, they transformed. Into their dragon. No child had ever turned into their dragon at ten years of age, but here they were; and not only that, they became one large dragon, like two peas in one pod. They had merged, something no dragon, dead or alive had ever done before.
The families who were by the waters edge were horrified at the sight, and even worse, they launched an attack on the kid who angered them. Try as much as the childs parents could, they didn't budge and kept attacking him and his family who were trying to run off with their only child, shielding him from the abomination dragons attack.
It took four elder dragons, one of each element, to trap and hurt them enough for them to tire out and turn back, separating them into two seperate people again.
From that day, Marina and Seavillton had been warned against ever letting them merge together, as they would only get stronger as they age, and would be even harder to pull apart.
From a very young age, they knew that they would never find a mate, as they could only mate with twins who were of different genders, and after that day, even if parents gave birth to twins, the doctor deserved the right to kill them without their parents consent, claiming them to be stillborn.
Humans were so different from their own kind. The people they'd never met before welcomed them into their house with open arms, and treated them no less like Trinity and Derek. Even Derek never showed any resentment or fear towards them, despite them being totally different from the others, who had fair skin and black or blonde hair. Having pale skin was one of many reasons the children either feared them, or simply laughed at them, making them feel more like outcasts in their own world.
Tyrone, who had come to live with them when he was barely one year of age, was their only real friend growing up, who never judged them and treated them as their biological siblings, playing, fighting, sharing secrets.. they were the first to know when he found his mate. Even first to meet her.
Tyrone had always known their parents as his own parents and often questioned why he was so different... the heartbreak he went through was witnessed by them firsthand when he found out that the dragons he knew as his parents were his uncle and aunt; and his own siblings were actually his cousins.. it was devastating. But despite this revelation, they were still as close together as shadows.
Even when his mom died, he hugged Marina and said that his mom was still here, in front of him.
His mate, Trinity had also reached out to Emeralda when Tyrone had 'gone missing ' which made them feel proud that she also acknowledged their position in his life. She was a lovely young lady, and when Tyrone had asked them on their opinion on what they thought of her, they pushed him to mark her, because she had made him more happy in just a few days, then he'd been all his life.
Emeralda had met her at the cafeteria after the training session on the day before she came to meet the entire family, and she couldn't stop talking about her, and teasing Tyrone, making him blush for the first time in his life. Even their parents were so happy and couldn't wait to meet her... if only they had been here...
"Here's more wonton," Tyrone said, waving a hand in front fo their eyes, snapping them back to the present. "Want some?"
"Like hell yeah!" Esmarald replied, with his sister and cousin staring at him. "What?" He asked, looking at them, while placing the plate in front of him.
"Like hell yeah?? Where'd you get that from?" Emeralda asked, surprised.
"I picked up a few things in this human world. It's much more fun here!"
"Try telling that to my mate!" Tyrone said, his gaze shifted to her, still jumping around.
"Speaking of which, have you told her?" his brother asked.
"Told her what?"
"You know what Jack is talking about!"
The silence gave them their answer.
"Why haven't you told her?" They both asked, looking at him.
"If I tell her, she'll want to know what will happen in this battle. I cannot tell her what I've seen, she won't like it!" Tyrone defended himself. According to the dragons, the last oracle had died with his mother, and it should stay that way. If he told Trinity that he has started seeing things that come true, she will believe he's an oracle, and he himself is not sure if he is, or it's just intuition. Yes it is true he had some disturbing visions of the battle, but he doesn't know if it's the future, or if it's just fear that's making him see things with his eyes open.
"You know, you should tell her, she might be able to help you understand yourself better," Emeralda said, adding, "she would be deeply hurt if she ever found out that you knew something about the battle, that she, being a witch could have changed, or used to her advantage and never told her."
"Em is right! Girls can go from lovely little beauties, to scary beasty, in no time, and your mate is not only a big scary fire breather, but also a damn witch." Esmarald earned a cold glare from his sister, and laughed, "Look at her," he said, pointing at Emeralda. "That's what I'm talking about...
Jokes aside, I'm on Em's side on this one! That girl is your mate, she deserves to know." All three of them stared at the dark haired girl, laughing and singing away with her brother and Stacey, oblivious to what is to come...
