Chereads / What's wrong with me? / Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 19

Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 19

As Tyrone lay in bed, he had an awful feeling. He couldn't really explain it, but he felt like something was wrong, almost like someone close was in trouble... Trinity!

The time she was in hospital, Martha had been so hell bent on separating them... what is she going to do if she came to know that they had marked each other?

***

"Trinity; You don't realize what you've done, do you?" Martha asked. She sounded disappointed. "It's not your fault, I should have taken more care of you."

"What do you mean by 'you don't realize what you've done'?" Trinity felt like she had done nothing wrong; besides, they had met during the night they were supposed to 'find their mates'. She clearly didn't understand what was wrong with her mate being Tyrone.

"Marrying someone who is not of the same group as you doesn't last." Martha came near Trinity and held her hand, continuing as they both sat on the bed, "Look at your parents. After two years of dating and eight years of marriage, they finally broke it off... and look at Tyrones' parents! they broke up after Sabrina got pregnant. I know so many cases like this, two dragons of different powers fall in love, only to break up."

Tears were streaming down the old woman's cheeks, as she got up and walked a few steps away, "Look at me! I fell heads over heels for a fire dragon... married him, gave birth to twins, and divorced him.... and it hurts more than anything in this world."

"You're not a fire dragon?" Trinity asked, abit shocked, as she realized she didn't know what dragon was her nanny and Stacey. She'd never asked them.

"No." Martha turned around, wiping her eyes, as she grew a little rose tree with white roses on her hand. "I'm an earth dragon.

"Wow," Trinity whispered. "What about you?" She turned toward Stacey.

"I'm wind-, or you can say air dragon."

"Please Trinity, please tell me you two didn't mark each other," Martha said, looking towards her. Her eyes widened with horror as a gust of wind blew at her dress, revealing Tyrones mark. Trinity desperately tried to hid it, but in vain.

She shot a sharp eye toward Stacey, who immediately threw her hands in the air and said, "dont look at me, it wasn't me, I can only use my powers in dragon form."

All three of them looked towards the window, which was wide open and though it was dark, they could see the trees swaying in the wind.

"Wait... I thought the window was just a-." "Don't change the subject," Martha spat.

"I don't care what you think I should or shouldn't be doing! You're not my MOM," Trinity screamed as she stormed out of the door, not caring about the shouts behind her.

Just as Tyrone was turning the other side on the bed, not knowing what to do, Trinity mindlinked him, asking him for the direction to his room.

"Are you OK?" Tyrone asked his mate as she sat on his bed, wiping tears from her eyes. He noticed she was still wearing her dress from the dinner, which made it clear that whatever happened was not good. He could feel her pain, and it was bad. Without waiting for an answer, he pull her into a hug, her head to his chest, and immediately she felt better. "Maybe you could go freshen up, and I'll get something for you to wear, if you want to wear anything, that is..." He said the last part in a flirtatious tone.

"You wish..." Trinity scoffed, raising her eyebrows. "Where's your bathroom?"

The hot shower felt so good on her skin, and she saw a seaweed soap, which smelt like the ocean. She did wish she could use lavender, but this would have to work for now.

She came out with a towel wrapped around her, and was shocked to see Stacey waiting for her and no sign of Tyrone. "Stacey?"

"Oh... hey Trinity... I knew you'd be here after you went out, and I was just collecting some of your stuff to bring you when Tyrone mindlinked me to do exactly that," Stacey happily explained herself. "He didn't know if you'd be comfortable changing in front of him or not, so he went out for a walk."

"Ok." Trinity looked at her clothes and selected a shorts and a loose top. After wearing her clothes behind a curtain, she came to seat next to her friend on a chair. She took this opportunity to see the room.

Tyrone basically had everything a person needed in a room. His room was slightly bigger than her own, so he had many things apart from the usual bed and closet and drawers. He had two chairs on which the girls were sitting now, a rocking chair by the window, an old looking armchair, which had peeling off leather, a fridge and on his bedside was a very old looking music box, which was made of metal and was slowly rusting away. She made a mental note to ask him about it when he came back.

"Trinity? Are you listening to me?"

"What?.... Yeah.... I was..." Stacey's sudden question took Trinity out of her mental tour of the room and back to the present.

"Really? OK, what was I saying?" Stacey asked.

"Um.... I...-" "See, I knew you weren't listening."

"Look, I'm sorry; I was just..."

"It's alright. I was just asking if you'd like to return back to your room 'cause Martha has left..." "Left? where'd she go?..." Trinity interrupted Stacey in mid sentence, in shock.

"Left as in left your room and went to hers." There was a sign of relief on Trinitys face as the other girl continued, "after we talked about what happened. I mean, you two met at the mate night and there has to be a good reason for it right."

"But Martha and her husband, and Tyrone's parents must also have met at the mate night, so..." Trinity said thoughtfully, leaving out her parents because she knew there was no way on earth they'd meet on a ball night meant for dragons only.

"No, they actually didn't. I heard that Martha didn't know she was a dragon up until she married her high-school boyfriend, who also turned out to be a dragon who didn't know about himself being one; And same happened to Tyrone's mom, who, though she knew about her dragon blood, fell in love with another dragon, and had gotten pregnant, which was against the law, so he dumped her and ran off..."

"That's a lie!" Both girls looked towards the door to see Tyrone, with a cold face, looking at Stacey, as though he's about to attack her.

"W...w...e...ll..., I....I....I" Stacey stuttered.

"Get. Out."

She didn't have to be told twice as she almost ran out the open door.

Tyrone turned his gaze towards Trinity, questioningly, to which she looked to the floor. Not knowing what to say, he went to the fridge, took out a bottle of water and drank it. He was hurt; Hurt about what the others were thinking of his parents; Hurt that his mate, the only one who should have asked him directly about his parents, had opted to ask someone else; Hurt that no matter what he did for all these dragons, they'd always think of him as an outsider.

"Tyrone?" Trinity could feel his hurt. She felt like an ice had stabbed her heart, probably because Tyrone was a water dragon, so when he was hurt, it made him turn ice cold... as in ice. He looked toward her, without saying anything, waiting for her to continue.

"Martha and I had an argument as she said she didn't want me to be your mate, and when she saw the mark, she lost it. She told me that dragons who mate outside of their own kind never last. As an example, she told me about my parents, herself and.... your parents." She looked at him for any reaction, but he remained still, his eyes watching her, his ears listening to her. "Stacey was just telling me the reason my parents, Martha and husband, and your parents split..."

"So you also think that my dad was a coward who ran off after impregnating my mom?" He asked coldly.

"No. I believe there is three sides to a story, first, what everybody hears and gossips about, second, the truth, and third is what no one ever hears about. So I want to know the truth, but only when you're ready to tell me."

Deep inside, Tyrone was so proud of her answer. He fell in love with her even more.
