Chereads / What's wrong with me? / Chapter 21 - CHAPTER 20

Chapter 21 - CHAPTER 20

Both Tyrone and Trinity were now seated on the chairs. "My mom was the last living female oracle dragon and everyone expected her to marry Sabestian, the only living male oracle, but she fell for a water breather and married him. Every other dragon was disappointed, as it meant that the end of the oracle was near..." "But, I thought male dragons passed on their genes to their kids, so wouldn't Sabestians children be oracles as well?" Trinity asked, confused.

"Yes, but than they wouldn't be as strong as their parents because of their mixed DNA," Tyrone replied, than continued, "and to make matters worst, the knights were hunting them down . You know, there are different types of oracles, my mom could touch a person and know their future, and Sabestian could tell your future just by seeing you or your pic. My parents married in private, with only my uncle and aunt invited from my dads side and your father and mother invited from my mom's side, but your mom couldn't make it, so it was just your dad."

"After a few weeks of their marriage, my dad was called to fight with the others against the knights, and never returned. It was only after he'd left that my mom found out about her pregnancy. She never got to tell my dad about my existence, and he never came back, so everyone accused my father of running away."

Trinity took a deep breath, "I'm sorry."

As Trinity got out of bed, she saw Tyrone all dressed up and looked like he was in a rush. He noticed her sitting and starring at him in confusion and he walked up to her. "I need to go. The Dragon Lord called all the older dragons for a meeting," he said, kissing her on her forehead.

"What should I do?" She asked.

"Go for training, or maybe... well do whatever you want."

As Tyrone left, Trinity freshened up and went towards the training arena. She was thinking of Stacey, when she saw her friend helping a teacher with the young children.

As she walked towards them, she received a mindlink from Marcus, saying, 'Miss Trinity, you're needed here at the meeting. Come at once.'

'Tyrone? where's the meeting held?' she asked her mate.

She than followed his instructions and reached a big room with a huge table in the middle with men and women sitting around it. Unlike normal 'meetings', this was more of a buffet party with all kinds of delicious smelling gourmet meal laid out in front of them.

Trinity stood at the doorway, shocked at this sight. She slowly walked toward them, with all eyes on her. There was a big LCD TV on a wall behind the Dragon Lord, showing the aftermath of a huge fire.

After bowing before everyone, she slowly looked towards Marcus, who was standing beside his master.

"What you see behind me is the destruction caused by the knights dragons. Since the knights are actually human, we need to know how a human thinks and make strategies to attack. That's why you're here. You will help us in making plans to attack the enemies," Marcus got straight to the point. "Oh, and please have a seat. You are, after all, part of the mission now," he added, as Trinity realized she was still standing.

"What do you propose we should do?" an old woman asked her, as she took a seat beside Tyrone. All eyes were on her. This was a moment everyone dreams of, being a hero and leading a group of people into battle. Where everyone looks at you for guidance. Trinity felt proud, but at the same time all this was overwhelming. What was she going to do? One wrong word, and instead of being the hero, she'd become toast.

"Trinity?" Tyrone whispered in her ear, bringing her back to the meeting.

"Um...Yes, I... I... uumm..."

"Stay calm. Don't get too distracted."

She took a deep breath, than continued, "To make a plan, I will first need to know everything. Where that happened?" She pointed at the screen, "When it happened?, and anything else that might be important, like casualties, or if they were after someone... You know, things like that."

Marcus looked at Tyrone and nodded once. Understanding that gesture, he began explaining the situation, "This was about 1000km West from here; and it happened last night. We still don't know much about the situation, but we've heard from our sources that they're coming for all of us."

"We don't know of any casualties yet, but this is the first time they've reached this close," said another man sitting opposite her.

"What was there?... Like any buildings, or forest?"

"There was an old mine that wasn't operational," Marcus replied.

"Mine?"

"Yes, an old Dimond mine," replied Tyrone.

"Hhhmmmm; Dimond mine.... maybe they are creating a weapon to kill dragons that's made of diamonds... I mean diamonds are the strongest substance in the world," Trinity said.

"That mine hasn't been mined for the past five years; I'm sure there were no diamonds in there," came an ironic suggestion from a middle aged man who had a beard and looked more like the leader of a bikers gang than a dragon.

"It's just a theory," Trinity snapped back.

"But how do we know for certain what's happening there?" Someone asked, her voice laced with concern.

"We could send a spy, who'd give all their information to us... but that's risky," Trinity replied, remembering all those spy movies she watched with her brother. She began to wonder if he missed her. She didn't even get to say a proper goodbye. And her mom, and Patrick... she wondered if they were able to get the insurance money to build a new house... oh there was so much she wanted to talk about with them... and tell them.

"Trinity?" came a harsh whisper.

"Hhh..., what?"

"It appears you're lost in your own world... at most times, that is," came a very familiar loud voice.

She tried to swallow a lump that got in her throat. Oh why was it that whenever the dragon lord spoke that she doesn't hear him and got lost in her own world? "F... f... forgive me Dragon Lord," Trinity managed to croak the words out.

"As I said, why would the knights except an outsider and welcome him into their group?" The Dragon Lord asked, as all eyes turned toward Trinity.

"I... I.... If... I... If..." She went over the sentence in her head, but her tongue wouldn't say it. "It's simple... if... if... "

"Will you just spit it out; you're wasting our time," Marcus said annoyingly.

Trinity looked towards the door, measuring the distance in her head. "I just wanted to say... humans have a saying 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' so if the knights hear about another dragon who tried to... you know... maybe kill a dragon who is the highest ranked member...."

There were gasps from the crowd sitting there as everybody started speaking at once, "What do you mean?...". "Are you serious?". "How dare you even think that?". "There's no way anyone...."

"SILENCE!!!" boomed the dragon lord.

Trinity shook so hard she felt like an earthquake had hit her. 'I'm going to become toast' she thought to herself as she gulped down a glass of water.

"I like this idea." Everyone's eyes shot towards the dragon lord in shock, including Trinity's. She had though that her end was here. "I'll leave it up to you and your mate Tyrone to figure out how to execute your plan. The food has got cold. Would you all heat it up."

"What on earth were you thinking? Do you know you could have been killed? Are you trying to get yourself killed?..." Tyrone was walking back and forth in his room while Trinity sat quietly on his bed. "... I can't afford to lose you Tri-" "What happened?" Both of them looked towards the door to see Martha standing there, looking concerned. "What's going on?"

"What're you doing here?" Tyrone asked angrily. Trinity was shocked by his tone, but said nothing.

"I heard you from the garden and just came to see what was wrong," the older lady replied.

"It's nothing," Trinity said, before Tyrone could say anything he didn't want to.

"Are you OK Trin?"

"I'm fine Martha. Don't worry," the young girl replied, hoping the older lady would leave.

"Ok, if you say so. If you need me...." "She doesn't need you; she needs a damn psychiatrist," Tyrone cut into Martha's sentence, as he made his way towards the bathroom, adding, "and fast." as he slammed the door shut.

"Not another word," Trinity said, looking at Martha. Now she was afraid that she might say something that might hurt Martha. The still confused older lady took the hint and left.

Tears streamed down Trinity's cheeks, as she thought about what she was going to do. She knew she couldn't do this without Tyrone. She also knew that she was going to die, either by the claws of the dragon lord, (if the plan didn't work) or by the knights, if she gets caught.

Tyrone felt very uneasy. As he took a shower, he felt like he was in a very dark place. He tried talking to Drake, but got no response. He knew he was falling in love with her, and he was going to tell her, but couldn't, thanks the Martha.

As he got out of the shower, there was a knock on the door. With the towel still wrapped around his waist, he went to open it, and to his surprise, it was Stacey. They both stared at each other. He knew Martha had sent her here, and he still remembered how she had insulted his parents the last time she was here. Deep down, he wanted to slam the door at her face, but than again, maybe she could talk some sense into his mates head.

"Stacey? What are you doing here?" Trinity broke the uncomfortable silence between the two.

"I just came to check on you..." The other girl replied, looking from Trinity to Tyrone, who was still standing on the doorway, blocking her. "Tyrone, I'm sorry about yesterday. I didn't mean to be rude or criticize your parents; I just..."

"Don't make me regret inviting you in," Tyrone said as he turned and walked back in, going toward the closet. He took out some clothes and went back into the bathroom.

"Is everything alright? Martha said she heard Tyrone shouting," Stacey asked, as soon as Tyrone was out of sight.

"Don't tell me she's concerned; you and I both know she doesn't want me and Ty together," Trinity replied, as both girls took a seat by the window. It was nearly midday, and the sun shone brightly in the sky, the birds chirping in the trees outside and far away the mountains looked so small. They could smell the sea and though she couldn't see the water, it had a very calming effect on Trinity.

"It's not like that, she's genuinely concerned.... you know you can talk to me if you want to."

"I made a suggestion that Tyrone doesn't appreciate..." "Appreciate? Appreciate? You want me to 'Appreciate' your suggestion?..."

"So what was I supposed to do, sit there like an idiot, or maybe I should have just sat there like a mute?" Trinity snapped back. She had had enough of this blame game.

"Couldn't you have said something else?"

"Like what?"

"I don't no, anything that... that might not get you killed!"

"How was I supposed to know he'd love my stupid idea?" Trinity screamed, as the temperature in the room started to rise. "And don't forget who calmed me down.. 'stay calm, don't get too distracted'," Trinity mimicked Tyrone.

"Oh, so now it's my fault?"

"GUYS, JUST CALM DOWN!!!" Stacey screamed. "What are you doing?"

"Well, firstly, who do you think you are to say anything between us? and secondly, don't forget your own status in the dragon world," Tyrone shot back, making Stacey flinch. He than turned toward Trinity and said, "This conversation isn't over." and went out the door.

"Sta-" "I've to go," saying that, Stacey turned around and left.
