Tyrone made his way with the other dragons towards the garden, where he'd find his destined mate. This would be his third time in a row to attend the ball, but his mate hadn't come for the past years. He needed someone now more than ever since he was now all alone. If only he would have reached his mother's house faster, she'd probably be here with him now.
The music at the dance was annoyingly loud, and within five minutes, he was getting restless; was she even here? Just as he was about to leave, his dragon caught her scent, and he made his way towards her, following the scent that her body was giving off. 'She's in pain,' His dragon said to him as the scent got stronger.
"Stacey, I wanted to know how I will recognize my mate." she was asking
"Simple, it's the first dragon you mindlink with."
"WHAT!!!" His voice was louder than the music, and almost all heads turned toward him. He immediately regretted saying this, as he noticed Trinity was just as surprised as he was since they were just staring at each other, no words, no gestures, just plain staring. Stacey must have understood because she was now moving further into the crowd, giving them the space they desperately needed.
Time froze for them, as they didn't know what to say. 'Speak to her,' Tyrone heard Drake's voice, but before he could make a move, Trinity broke the silence between them, "Well... This is a surprise."
He chuckled nervously as he was out of words. "Hi, nice meeting you, again," He said in a low voice. ''How are you feeling?" he added, remembering how his dragon had sensed her pain.
"My chest and head still in pains, but I'm feeling OK," Trinity replied.
"Oh... And I must add, you look beautiful." Tyrone looked at her from top to bottom.
Trinity blushed as she said, "You look amazing too." She stared at his black tuxedo, and his ash blonde hair combed upwards, which made him look better than the first time they met.
"Shall we dance?" Tyrone held out his hand.
Trinity took his hand, and they both started to waltz, Tyrone making sure not to go too fast.
"Can I ask you something?" Trinity asked, after a few moments.
"Anything," Tyrone replied, thinking it would be something like favorite color or food or whatever girls ask on their first date.
"What happened to my father?"
Tyrone stopped dancing as his face turned white. He had known this day would come, but he never expected that day to be now. "Why don't we talk about that some other time?". "No. I need to know now." Her deep brown eyes were staring at his amber-colored ones, pleading silently.
He turned and walked towards the edge of the garden as she followed quietly behind him. The sound of the music softened as she reached the edge of a cliff, with benches and a nice balustrade forming a border.
Tyrone leaned on a post and looked out to the glimmering ocean and the light of the silver moon reflecting on the water, with waves breaking it into billions of pieces, making it look like a blanket of little sparkly diamonds. Trinity was mesmerized by all this; at the smell of the sea, the waves crashing into the rocks below.... It was amazing to see how the waves never gave up; even when they broke, they still hit the edge of the cliff.
There was silence, as Tyrone thought of where to start. Memories of that night flooded his mind the night he met this girl for the first time, the night he gained something, only to lose everything else.
"I was on my way to my mom's when the tyre of the van went flat, so l had to pull over at this gas station to get it fixed and since I was hungry, I decided to grab a quick snack," Tyrone began, still looking out to the sea. "I heard its roar, and I knew it was headed towards my mom's house since she had called earlier to tell me of the attack that happened earlier that day..."
Tyrone rushed out of the small shop with his cheese sandwich to check if his tyre was changed by the mechanic and happily paid him as he drove out of there as fast as he legally could.
He knew it had to be the knights' dragon, and he had to get there and warn them before this monster.
He tried calling his mother and Triyast, but to no luck. He was now driving as fast as he could, as there were no cameras on the road. The roaring and screeching of the beast were gone, so Tyrone knew he was far off.
Parking behind the SUV Crossover, he jumped out of his van and ran to the front door. "MOM! MOM, OPEN UP," He yelled as he banged on the door.
"Ty? What's wrong?" Sabrina opened the door, looking scared.
"We have to get outta here." Tyrone rushed in almost knocking over Triyast, who had also come out to see what all the commotion was about.
"What's going on?" The older man caught Tyrone as he steadied himself.
"They're headed this way."
There was silence for a second before Triyast ran to Trinity's room to wake her up while Sabrina gave her son a brief hug. "Go check on them," she ordered her son and, as he disappeared, gave out a small cry as she had seen what was to befall them.
"We don't have time! Triyast?" He called out."Hurry up, we've to go, now." His amber-colored eyes were met by dark brown ones, but as much as he wanted to introduce himself, he couldn't because of the shortness of time. Instead, he turned and headed back to his mom.
By now, the screeching of the enemy could be heard, and everyone knew it was here.
"LET'S GO!" Triyast said, almost pulling at Trinity.
"Dad, what's going on? Trinity asked in a horrified voice.
"Honey, I wish I had time to explain." He took Trinity to the living room.
There was a mixture of fear and confusion in the air. Something was happening, and Tyrone knew Trinity didn't know what he thought she knew by now about her kind, but she seemed clueless. The roars got nearer and nearer, Tyrone and Trinity ran outside, towards the van that was parked behind Triyasts car, and just instinctively, she looked up, only to see a massive dragon flying toward the house, its wings flapping with so much force, it could blow away a building.
"Wait, what about my dad and your mom?" Trinity asked, realizing that they were still inside.
"They can take care of themselves," was all Tyrone could say before they were almost engulfed in flames. He, by reflex, let Drake take over, and before Trinity knew it, there was a huge spray of water that was now fighting with the flame, which also drenched her. Trinity could just barely make out a brown dragon above her when suddenly a grey dragon flew out of the house with a white one following close behind.
The grey dragon fought with the intruder, spraying it with fire, while the white one just flew for dear life. Tyrone, seeing his mother, immediately rushed towards her, protecting her with intensity. The white dragon pushed at the brown one, probably to tell it to take her away.
The brown dragon came down, turning into Tyrone, and pulled Trinitys arm, "we've got to go now," he said, pulling her towards the van.
"But... dad...". "NOW."
Trinity was asking Tyrone too many questions at once, so he decided to get out there and help his mom and Triyast instead. After Trinity took over the wheel, he slipped outside to join the action.
Triyast was protecting Sabrina, the last of her kind with everything he had, but the intruder seemed to have done his homework before he came since he was beating the older grey dragon.
A burst of water surely caught the black dragon by surprise as he stumbled in the air, giving the duo the opportunity they needed, as they headed straight for the wing, but the enemy saw what was happening and managed to hurt Triyast by grabbing him by his neck. The spray of water made it release him, but the bite was enough to badly injure the grey dragon.
Triyast fell as he turned back into a human towards the ground. Drake quickly caught him in midair as he flew and landed gently on the ground, putting him on some battered wood. The knights' dragon was now flying away, as his job was done. He had not only come to kill his mother but also Triyast.
"Tyrone, promise me you'll get Trinity safely to the meeting," a father pleaded.
"I promise."
At that, the great warrior closed his eyes forever.
Tyrone realized his mother was nowhere to be seen, only to discover her lifeless body, a few feet away. "MOM? mom?" He cried out, tears streaming down his eyes as he remembered the girl driving the van.
He flew over to catch up, only to see that she was driving towards a dead end. 'Turn left,' he said through mind link, hoping it would work, not that it had before, as he tried numerous times to contact his mom, only to fail miserably. To his surprise, the van turned left, but how?

Trinity clutched her chest as the pain now became unbearable, as she realized the reason her father never called or texted Martha. She just couldn't breathe, as she felt darkness engulf her. The last thing she remembered was a strong arm around her as a phone began to dial.
