Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

New Room

Okay so, her shyness might be rubbing off on me because before I knew it I was subconsciously shy too. I was trying to watch her out of the corner of my eye as I unpacked and decorated my room, as I was afraid to do anything that might insult or disgust her. I worried about what she thought of me and my things. Was there too much red? Was the Christmas lights too much? I would occasionally glance at her side of the room too, and while they were very different (her side being more organized and simple) they didn't clash which was cool. Once I finished I took a seat on my bed and smiled at my side of the room. It's not quite as heavily decorated as my old room in The North, nor is it as decorated as my new house (thanks mom) but it suited me nicely and the overall simplicity gave it a more professional feel.

Hannah finished about the same time I did and she sat on her bed too.

"It looks good," she said, her voice sounding like beautiful bells. I felt myself blush

"T-thank you, your side does too." I replied. And it really did, her use of decorative candles as a centerpiece for the headboard made her side of the room feel expensive and luxurious.

She smiled and got up and walked downstairs. I tried to tidy up my side more and then followed her down. At the bottom of the stairs stood a male teacher named Seoul who directed us all to the cafeteria to eat.

I walked through the hallways and was surprised by just how many people went to this school. Once I made it to the cafeteria I got in line with everyone else.

I was daydreaming when I felt something shove into me.

"Hello? You're in my spot" I turned to see a tall, pale girl in a blue leather jacket smirk at me, hand on hip.

"What do you mean? I've been here? I didn't jump spots." I was confused, I've been standing here for a while, and I know for sure that I haven't passed anyone.

"What do you mean you didn't jump spots I was right there in front of you, and you passed me!" Her smirk turned into a sneer. I went to turn back around and noticed that someone had slid into place in front of me. She was tan with fiery red hair, and when I say fire I mean her hair was literally made of fire. She waved at the girl behind me who slid up to be next to her.

"Thanks for giving me my spot back dear." She cackled as they high-fived. I felt my face go red with shame.

"Oh, and my name's Jaquelyn in case you're wondering, and this is Blaze, and you must be gullible. Nice to meet you." She turned back to her friend as they both laughed.

I spent the rest of the breakfast line staring at my feet in embarrassment.

Once I got my food I found an empty table and Evalin quickly joined me.

"So, how's your day going so far?" She asked as she spooned her mouth full of cereal.

"Other than getting picked on over something I didn't do, fine I guess." I bit down on a boiled egg.

"I saw that, I wanted to help but I was too far on the other side of the room and couldn't make it to you fast enough. I'm sorry" she said before giving me a quick hug and then continuing with her cereal. We spent the rest of breakfast in silence, thinking to ourselves.
