Chapter 7 - Chapter 6

"Eavening students. I'm Valentine but you may call me Val. I'm your home economics teacher. I hope we become good friends!"

Her smile had a warmth to it that I rarely see on anyone other then my parents.

The cheerfulness and sweetness made my heart flutter.

I bet every guy in the school would gush over her. And every girl would want to be her.

"Since today is our first day we will watch a few cooking tutorials to prep for the quiz coming this Friday!" She walked over to the corner of the room where a computer sat on a trolly and projected a couple YouHub videos onto the white wall. We sat the rest of the class like this, but we all know that the majority of the eyes in the room were not focused on what was being played.

Soon class came to a close. We all finished our last class of the day and went to our dorms afterwards for break before supper. I flopped lightly onto my bed. today had been so chaotic that I had used all of the energy caused by the nerves of it being the first day. I had come to a crash and really just wanted to take a nap.

I had started to drift off when Hannah nocked on the door and entered the room, Evalin trailing behind her.

"Supper will be done soon, would you like to sit with us?" her soft voice called to my like whispers from the wind itself.

"I'd be honored. Will it just be us?" the girls chuckled to themselves, making it easy to guess the answer.

After a brief chat and a long walk downstairs we soon made it to the cafeteria where for supper they had a small feast.

My father sat at a long table that was separate from the rest of the room. the table adorned only staff members. the chatter from all of the students was loud and occasionally you could hear the scraping of fork on porcelain plate and the clink of glasses being sat on the dark wood tables.

Suddenly my father stood and with nothing but a small cough the room came to a quiet.

"Dear Students, I would like to thank all of you for making today go so smoothly. I'm sure the staff and I can agree that today as been on our minds for a while and that it has caused no small amount of stress," the table chuckled softly "With little to no effort fr us today has gone off without a hitch and I hope every day goes as smoothly as today." he raised his glass and the room took a small toast before drinking. The room once again filled with the chatter of students and before long we where ushered back to our rooms to rest with the promise of a busy day ahead.
