Why was this idiot suddenly obsessed with going as soon as Kyle forbid it? Was he somehow missing the whole you die as a null user if you get to close? Honestly, was he trying to participate in natural selection?
For some reason James had brought up how he'd be fine if he stayed over 200 meters away from it. Why wasn't he just shooing him away? He wasn't even part of his guild anymore. How had the conversation even gotten to this point! Ugh why was it even bothering him? Just let the idiot die then.
He finally turned away with a snort and stated some hurtful things, his last line stuck with him, "I'm not wasting any healing power on an idiot so get yourself killed if you must but don't involve others." Darn it he hadn't meant it to sound that mean.
The rest of the conversation was awkward at best. Finally they dispersed Kip went off somewhere and James was organizing the rest of the upper ranked guild members. Could Kip just not show up and miss the party leaving or something? Darn if they weren't leaving this afternoon he could of spiked his drink with a sleeping drug, wait maybe he still could?
Oh goodness what was he even thinking? Again he mentally slapped himself, let the idiot die it wasn't his problem. Darn now he would just be in a bad mood the rest of the trip.
A few hours later he was glaring daggers at a box of supplies and he helped load one of the vans.
"Are you okay?"
Kyle looked up to see his brother Connor studying him.
"Yeah" he replied curly.
"You don't look it."
"Shut up." He replied and turned away.
Behind him he heard Connor muttering to Cody and he could feel them both watching his back.
"Okay that's everything!" Called out Jay as he leapt down from the back of a truck they were also taking. "Road trip." Jay said cheerful as ever.
Kyle felt like shoving him. He really was way too happy all the time. With all this fire power the yak shouldn't be a problem, but then why did he keep getting this sense of danger?
He was being ridiculous, even as an unranked beast, they had several unrankable warriors themselves. Not to mention if they really needed it he could always contact the other CIA Majikku branch agents like LavaLilly and BlazeStar. Not that he would, those two were a pain, not unless someone was near dying.
Stupid yep that's what he was being. Half their team could take out this beast without breaking a sweat. It's not like it'd be actually impossible to beat but then the scout party must have just been careless or something.
He watched Kip move a small bag into a van along with his swords. Nope only one in danger of dying would be him. He had asked James about it earlier and it seemed the beast could after enough time make a brain explode if a person had no element.
Maybe he should accidentally drop a crate on his hand, break his wrist, then not heal it and tell him to stay here? He turned away quickly when Kip's eyes met his but not before he saw a slightly hurt look on his face. Well Kyle had sort of been scowling at him.
Darn it now he felt obligated to actually keep an eye on the idiot. Could he even heal an exploded brain? Brains were notorious for being extremely difficult to fix and that was even with minor things like a brain tumor, a true exploded brain would be game over.
Weird now his mind was on all those zombie movies that had been popular before the Tempest. Maybe this monster was part zombie or something.
...….
The line of vehicles had been driving for quite awhile now. They still had another hour before they came to the area where they would set up their offense. Of all the luck though, Kyle glanced slightly to his side. He had somehow ended up in the same vehicle as Kip. Not only that they were across from each other. Fate is cruel.
He had already tried to think of a million different ways to pick up a conversation most of them starting with something similar to 'I'm sorry about being a slight jerk earlier.' it wasn't like he needed to or anything, curses to his mental good boy act. He could act as stoic as he wanted but when it came down to it he hated seeing others in pain or dying.
Right now though was even worse, something kept telling him Kip was going to die and there was nothing he could do about it. He clenched and unclenched his fists. Kip had agreed to stay back and only help with supplies that was the original agreement.
Easy all Kyle had to do was help the other sky users freeze the beast till the others killed it, then he could heal anyone needed it. Kip didn't have to be anywhere near it.
He glanced toward Kip again and felt his throat dry out. He didn't have future sight or anything like that but this... he had gotten these feeling before and they were usually right.
Right now everything was screaming to keep Kip far away from that beast.
The van pulled to a stop and the guild members began filing out. Kip fell in line with them easily. Kyle wanted to hiss, he should have kept Kip far away from the guild life. He should of just wrapped him in bubble wrap and pillows then locked him in a padded cell or something.
Kyle watched as people began setting up and his brain immediately took another detour to worst case scenario land.
"Hey...HEY...… KYLE!"
Kyle glanced sideways to see Cody looking at him.
"Are you okay?" Cody asked.
"Yeah."
"Really because you don't look it. Maybe you should sit this one out." Cody's face was etched in worry.
"I'm fine, sorry was just….. just had my mind on something." Kyle move his facial expressions back to his normal.
Cody glanced at him again then walked off but called over his shoulder "If you get side tracked again I'm sidelining you!"
Kyle took a deep breath, this was a very illogical pattern of action. He was always rational. Everything would go like normal, and even if Kip died it wasn't like it was his problem.
