Chapter 57 - 57. Azu

That day, Ivy and Lyle played with the kids the whole time until Mrs Wilson called them back for an early dinner after which they had to go back.

''I called a cab and it should be reaching here anytime now. Let's go.'' Lyle said as he helped Ivy puck up the jacket she had taken off while playing.

''Are you leaving already? Stay a while more.''

Seeing the kids whine, Ivy squated down to their level and said, ''We have to go to school tomorrow so we have to leave. I'll come next time alright?''

''Come back soon.'' The kids chorused as they enveloped her in a group hug.

''And you too.'' The kids pulled Lyle as well.

''Aww... We will.''

...

''You seem to be a little more attached with Azu.''

Lyle and Ivy were in the cab on their way towards the restaurant their families were at.

''That's a modest way to put it.'' Ivy smiled when she heard how Lyle put his words afterall, no matter what they were doing, she had Azu in her arms or sight all the time. ''Well, that's because when I first met her, she was just a little over six months. Infact, the director had found her outside that very day and everyone was having a tough time calming her down. They were short on hands and so I was the timely savior. That's why I took care of Azu and it was also me who named her. So we started to get attached with eachother.''

''Oh... So that's how.'' Lyle showed a look of understanding but what Ivy had said was just a tip of the iceberg.

For Azu, she had to stay at the orphanage for a couple of weeks as well because Azu didn't let anyone close to her other than Ivy. It seemed as if the child was scared of strangers. As soon as someone tried to touch her, she would burst out crying.

On the first day, Ivy had left the orphanage after she had made sure that Azu was sleeping. Who knew she got a call in to middle of the night from the Director asking her to come to the orphanage as soon as she can because Azu had woken up at night crying. But that wasn't all because when one of the workers tried to calm her down, the situation turned for worst as Azu cried even harder to the point of working up a fever.

That night Ivy had woken her dad to get him to drop her off at the orphanage. Ofcourse after hearing her reason, Mr and Mrs Gracia both went along because Mrs Gracia was also equally worried about the child and wanted to help.

When they finally reached the orphanage, they found that Azu was shifted to the director's office because they didn't want her to disturb the other children.

After taking care of her for the whole night, Azu's fever finally stopped at dawn. But after that day, she settled in the orphanage to take care of Azu until she could let others touch her and take care of her.
