Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Forest Fire

"So, ahhuh, so hot." He exclaimed in a sluggish voice, barely being able to open his eyes. He waits for a moment to wake up, but this sudden burst of intense heat disturbs him in doing so.

The sound of fire crackling and popping from the burning wood instantly alerts Sirus's awareness.

"Wha-what the hell happened!" He opened his eyes in awe, every direction he looked were blazing to be seen. He supports himself by lifting his body by his arms but finds his body awfully much powerless to even lift himself up from the floor. His body left feeling powerless and much so paralyzed, his heart rates skyrockets to the roof as the blazing fires slowly start to dawn upon him.

He closes his eyes and relaxes his mind, going into a state of nothingness he begins to imagine moving his body.

....

"Now move!" The sudden bursts of adrenaline shocks his body making his blood cells flow faster for a moment as if his body resets. He tenses his hands and spreads them out and pierced the earth and grabs onto the soil as he clenches his hands. He slams his forehead onto the ground and lifts his legs to touch his knee on the floor and at that moment he jumps up.

"Argh!"

His body still feeling a tingling sensation, he ignores this feeling and starts to scan his surroundings, noticing 4 large trees surrounding him from every corner and their branches coving the exit like sturdy walls, preventing from anything leaving or entering.

"What the hell? Where did I end up? And what's with these trees? Whatever I need to get out of here, shit!"

Sirus suddenly realised his dagger wasn't on him and… Neither was his b-brush!.

He furiously looked around the cramped space and a shiny glimpse caught his eye, he sighed in relief as he found his dagger embedded in one of the 4 trees. He tried to reach his hand between the wall of branches but his dagger was too far away to reach.

"Right, I remember putting my brush in this pocket." He stopped to check his trench coat pockets and luckily the brush was still where he left it. Now all was left was to quickly get his dagger back and escape this forest fire. He stared down at his claws and had a face of an irritated face.

"I can't just keep on using these claws for everything, I'll just snap or try kicking the braches instead."

So he decided to snap the branches with relative ease, one after another he finally managed to grab his dagger and immediately started cutting away the rest of the branches. Taking no more than roughly 2 minutes he finally cut the last branch, what awaited on the other side were pure hell, fires reaching as high as a 3 story building and countless creatures and monsters that Sirus had never even seen being burnt alive as they run for their lives.

"How else could this happen then the idiocy of the human race, always solving their problems with violence." Sirus shook his head and began looking for a way to escape this blaze.

'It won't matter which way I go right? I would be too fast for the fires to get on me, no I can't just go in whatever direction, right I was trying to go the opposite side of the river.'

"River? That's it!"

Sirus tried looking for the river but with the intense heat rasing to dangerous temperatures. It was near to impossible to look anywhere without getting burnt to a crisp by the heat itself.

He looked behind him and noticed the whole area was on fire but not the trees that temporarily entrapped him.

So he quickly began climbing the tree in hopes to see the river from above the blaze or at least somewhere safe to escape to.

A few minutes after climbing the tree, he looked below and where he once stood was nothing but a blazing pit of hell, He sighed in relief as he almost reached the peak. He sat down on a branch as he looked around his surroundings and sure enough the whole entire forest was on fire, but luckily for him, he didn't see the river from up there but he did see the house which he stayed at and that all he needed to indicate that is where the river is.

He also noticed a row of the Mages with their hands up in the air. "So it was them, they did all of this just for a single Demon? What is so important with me, that they need to kill me that they needed to go this far. He shook his head and began climbing down and jumping from tree to tree that was safe enough to jump across.

"Have you confirmed that the Demon is eliminated? I need to know!" He shouted in anger as he was running out of patience.

The Mages all looked at each other with a worried look.

A Mage approached and hesitated to speak. "With all due respect sir, with how the fires escalated, it's interfering with our ability."

"Meaning?!"

"We can't locate the Demon's Mana signature as the fires are interfering." He looked down and braced himself to get hit or even killed.

The Officer raised a fist but didn't bother hitting the Mage.

"I lost my temper and look where we are now, I failed you, Philip."

He looked behind him and noticed a massive crowd from the villages as they stood far away from them and were scared and frightened and wondering why they were a forest fire.

The chatter started getting louder and louder by the minute, cries and weeps came from the children and elderly.

A group of men approach from within the crowd and started to question the Knights.

"Why did you set the forest on fire?!"

"Leave right this instance or else it's gonna get ugly!"

The group of men started to get even more agitated and slowly started to approach the Officer and the Mages whilst cracking their knuckles.

"Halt! This is official business!" He tried to stop them but they wouldn't listen. He sighed and looked towards the Mages. "Form a temporary [Barrier] until we have completed our duty."

"Sir! We don't have enough Mana left to cast a [Barrier]!"

"Fuck!" He was running out of options, He could attempt to threaten them but that wasn't his style. He desperately looked through his options and he had an idea.

"Mages!" He shouted as he looked behind and saw a dark figured approach right in front of his eyes. He spat out a mouthful of blood and looked down and saw a knife implanted into his chest and struck through his heart.

His eyes became hazy and lifeless, he became seeing his wife and his unborn child flashing before his very eyes, his body dropped to the floor with a loud thud.

"Wow, that was easier than I thought, hahaha." Everything happened so incredibly fast that not even the Mages could react and detect his Mana Signature.

"Now… Whos next?" He gave an evil smirk and licked his lips, he grabbed the dagger out of the human's chest and licked the blood off to scare and freak out the Mages.

The Mages were still trying to figure out what happened, they were in a state of shock so it was natural for them to take a moment to render what just happen and snapback from reality.

But that very couple of moments ended their very lives. Sirus's threw the dagger and managed to hit one of the Mages. He took the stance that a professional athlete would take before running. The sudden burst of speed and the force in his foot flung dirt and debris into the air. He instantly disappeared from his position, he reappeared in front of a mage.

The mage tried to run and scream for his life but Sirus kicked his side stomach by using his strong hind leg, causing several bones to break instantly, fragments of bone pierced his body and got embedded in the other nearby mages. He went on killing the mages effortlessly, one after another. The mages snapped and tried to cast offensive magic, but they have run completely out of their mana and were doomed to their deaths. They could do nothing but attempt to run away.

Their desperate attempt to escape failed miserably as the unknown opponent crushed their organs and bones with every fist and kick he landed.

Not even a mere minute passed by before Sirus killed all of the mages.

He stood still as he leaned his head back and shortly after rained poured in the surrounding areas, his hands coved and dripping from blood. The villages didn't utter a word and for the children, their parents and guardians coved their mouths.

He started laughing wildly as he stared into the sky.
