Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Laughable Debt

"The town of Kurts? Huh, what kind of idiot came up with that name?" Sirus mumbled as his attention went back to the human, casually camping side of the road.

Sirus takes a deep breath and a minute to plan out how to approach this human, unaware of him that a Demon lurks behind his back.

After a few minutes of pondering, Sirus slowly approached the human as quietly but casually as possible.

Sirus forcefully coughed to gather the human's attention.

The human raised his brow as he went to look behind him, only moving his upper body to look behind.

"Oh hi, can I help you?" the human said but a few moments later he narrowed his eyes.

'That was better than I planned out.' Or so he thought before the human shouted suddenly raising his arms against his face and tripping over as he suddenly tried to stand up.

"M-m-m-monster! G-get away from me, you fiend!" The human strutted, quickly trying to run away for dear life.

'I take back what I said…' Sirus sighed heavily and shook his head before kicking his feet and dashing quickly in front of the human without him even realising.

The human stumbled back and dropped to the ground on his back before widening his eyes in awe and fright. His body trembling at the monster suddenly appearing in front of him, blocking his escape.

"Oi, look human, I just want to ask some questions and you can go back to whatever you do, I won't hurt you unless you make me do." He said as he crossed his arms and looked down upon the shivering human with his glowing red eyes to look even more dominating, hopefully making him talk faster and answer his questions.

However not to his surprise the human merely screamed for dear life as he tried to run back where he ran from.

"G-get away from me! Mother!!!" He said in a desperate voice.

Sirus who just stood there and raised a brow, couldn't believe what he heard. "Did he just shout for his mom? A grown man no less. Hah." He shook his head once more time and kicked his foot again and quickly reappearing in front of the human again but grabbing him by the throat.

"Listen to me!" He roared as he stared at his eyes as if staring at his bare soul. The human quickly stopped struggling a moment later and merely stood there, like a lifeless person who has given up all hope to live any further.

Sirus release him slowly to the ground, after he saw the human no longer trying to run away at his desperate futile attempt.

"Now, will you answer my questions already or would you rather get killed for acting so shamelessly as an adult who screamed for his mommy?" Quickly after the human merely nodded quickly, dropping down on his butt.

"Good, now is there a town around here or better a city?" Even though he saw a welcoming sign, he was unsure whether it was a city a village or a town.

The human tried to speak but could only strutter helplessly as he was too scared for his life.

Seeing this, he allowed him to take a few moments to calm himself as much as possible. The human took a deep breath before talking but without much stuttering. "T-there is a town not far t-that way." He pointed in a certain direction but without moving his eyes away from the monster.

Sirus quickly look in the direction he pointed and indeed it was the same way he was heading. Meaning the town named, Kurts.

"At least it wasn't a village again, anyway, is there like a Guild or like Taven for adventures place to do missions?" 'Since this place has magic in it there is a good chance that this world also as those places written in novels he thought to himself.

The human nodded before answering. "T-there a-are Guilds but this town don't have any, o-only an Adventure's Guild."

"Ahhh? Huh, what's the difference between a Guild and an Adventures Guild? Ah know what never mind I can figure it out." Sirus lifted his head up and stared at the sky for a bit to ponder.

"I-i can I go now?" The human nervously gulped as he waited for the monsters answers to set him free.

"Wait a moment, why are you in a rush? Let me see if I have any other questions before I let you go." Sirus went back to ponder.

The human didn't dare to talk back so he waited as much as he could without trying to offend the monster that could risk his life.

Sirus noticed the book that was on the floor that the human was reading before. "The book, what's the book about?"

The human was surprised to hear that a monster is interested in a book. "The b-book. You can have it but please just let me go."

"Answer the question!" He raised his aura subcouniusly without realising, that slightly exploded making the human piss his pants.

"Please don't hurt me!" He fell back and coved his face. "Whatever, you can go after I have left, just to make sure you don't do anything suspicious, so stay silent and lay there until I'm done. The human didn't answer back and quickly nodded.

Sirus looked at him with disgust and snotted. "Eheh, pathetic of a human." He mumbled before he went to look at the book before looting the camp for anything worthwhile.

'A book about myths and legends to seem and nothing but a few bronze lines.' "A book and a few worthless bronzes? Even an idiot would carry more if they were camping on the side of the road." The next moment that surprised him. The human immediately started to beg and kowtowed. "Please! Take anything but my money! I won't survive even until next week when I haven't even paid my debt! I beg of you!"

'That was unexpected, is this is why he's camping on the side of the road? Did he run away since he couldn't pay his debt?'

"You're in debt and you decided to run away from I presume this Kurt's town is your home and now you're camping on the side of the road because of some debt?" The human was merely shocked as he lifted his head and nodded with his mouth dropped.

"Seems I was dead on." He mumbled and ponded for a bit. "Let me answer two more questions. Are there guards or security alike that prevent being like me in?" The human nodded without saying anything. "Then, if I help you pay your debt and you convince the guards to let me in, its benefits both of us." Sirus narrowed his eyes at the human making him gulp.

"Y-you are willing to pay m-my debt?" He spoke in a surprised voice as if it's almost to good to be true, after all, he spent begging his family and friends and even strangers to help pay his debt. And this monster is willing to help pay his debt?

"Of course after you let me in then it's a deal if not you can forget about getting my help."

"I-i will help, yes I will help!" He signed in relief and kowtowed once more.

"You better not think just because you are talking to the guards and think you are safe with them protecting you, I will skin you alive before setting you alive and feed you to the wolves!"

"I-I won't ever think of betraying you!" He cried out.

"Pack your shit and move, I will tell you on the way of what to do." He went and stood by a tree and watched the human pack whatever he had on him in a haste.

2 minutes passed and the human bowed his head. "I-i am ready."

Sirus didn't say a word and begin walking down the dirt road and the human silently walked behind without uttering a word.

"By the way, how much is your debt?"

"10-10 golds." He muttered, shocking Sirus. "10 gold! How damn pathetic are you to have a debt of 10 gold? A child can get a job and have more than 10 gold by the end of the week, and you're saying you can't even work for a mere 10 gold?"

The human didn't know how to respond back and started to cry about how ashamed and embarrassed he felt for not even paying and having a debt of 10 gold.

"Quit your crying! You're like in your mid-twenties and your crying about such a pathetic thing." 'Here I thought he was in debt of something like above 100 silvers or something but 10 gold is laughable that he has that for a debt that he can't even pay back.'

Sirus looked back and sure him trying to hold back his tears as he stared at the ground.
