Chereads / Living Nightmare / Chapter 11 - Shadow-Mart

Chapter 11 - Shadow-Mart

There was a large black mass that covered the outside of the Wal-Mart. No one knew where the black mass had came from. They knew what it had turned into. There was a theory that this might be all the negative energy in Chicago. Shadow people were known in the paranormal community and they cause sleep paralysis and other nasty shit. None of them had ever attacked someone outside of their home or where the shadow people resided. Maybe these creatures were different, maybe they were an experiment gone wrong. There was one thing that had to be done, they needed to be put down like the rabid dogs they were. The shadow people had been attracted to the Wal-Mart and that is because there were people there and they could sense the energy of the people. They were like vampires and they needed to feed and the only food they could eat was the energy off of living beings. They tried to feed off of the chemical zombies and that didn't work. One of the shadow people had actually vanished when they tried to feed off of one of the chemical zombies. Those things in the sky were an menace to the shadow people as well. They were some sort of protector or just another creature getting ready to pounce on the weaklings of this world. Right now it was like a shoot out in the 'ole west. Except the shadow people had no weapons except their ability to suck out energy.

All you could hear was the sound of gun fire inside of the store and the smell of gun powder. Snort was firing off as many shots as he could. There were shotgun shells at his feet and it seemed like Akito wasnt running out of bullets anytime soon. The only good thing was that they were in an store and there had to be a fully stocked weapons section and that would be good for us. In the sporting section there was always knives, baseball bats, guns and ammunition. That was the only good thing about America being a bunch of rednecks. He didn't know what that damn duck was going to do and Marcus had flew off somewhere to hide. Marcus didn't like confrontation or fighting. He was the only one that was the size of an animal, the rest of them were the size of regular humans. Must of been some sort of mutation or they came from a different world. It didnt matter.

Snort was blasting away. "Will you motherfuckers just fucking die?"

Akito shook his head as he was firing away on the shadow people. "Language. Could be kids in here." He laughed and Snort rolled his eyes at Akito. Snort was amused by the comment. Akito was probably referring to Marcus. The flying squirrel was far from a child, it had child-like-tendancies though. With both of them firing at the shadow people, they had pushed them back towards the entrance of the wal-mart.

Amelia had parked her bike out front of a generic grocery store, she held her crossbow in her right hand and got off of the motorcycle and approached the grocery store. The door was taken off and the windows had been smashed and the store looked dark inside. She has had good luck with stores lately, you know with them having lights and what she needed. She had her bag in her left hand and she was still wearing her quiver. She was going to be ready for everything, she walked into the store and began to look around rather cautiously. She didnt want to get jumped by anything. She walked a few aisles and it looked like it had gotten ransacked by a few people. All the canned food had been taken and the only thing that was really left in the store was cereal and a few cases of bottled water. She couldnt fit any of that stuff into her bag anyways. This was a bust and that made her sad. On the bright side she didnt have to carry anymore shit. Between her, the weight of the food and other things she's grabbed from the other stores. It would probably make the motorcycle go slower and that was one thing she didnt need. She walked to where she had entered the store and stood in the doorway. She could see something moving in the streets.

Amelia blinked and aimed her crossbow at the moving creature. "What the fuck are you?"

She needed away to identify these things. The creature looked at her and snarled. It was black and had red glowing eyes, it looked at her and ran towards her. With the crossbow still aimed at the the hound she pulled the trigger and shot the hound. When the arrow hit the hound it vanished and the arrow hit the ground and Amelia ran and grabbed the arrow and put it back into her quiver. There was no blood or anything on it. She then saw something in the sky. It was a giant black mass. It looked like a giant swarm of black flies. It was odd, she got a strange energy from the black mass and she knew it was not black flies. She didnt think they got black flies in this part of the world anyways, she could be wrong, she hoped she was wrong. Amelia walked back over to her bike and lifted the seat up. There was a nice little secret compartment. She stuffed her bag of food and crossbow into the compartment and then put the seat down and then looked back up at the sky.

Amelia stared at the sky. "I wonder where they are going. I could follow them, couldnt be as bad as these damn zombies running around." With that she got back on her motorcycle, started it up, revved up the engine and drove in the direction of the black mass. She wasn't going to leave well enough alone.
