Chapter 30 - Glance of his (30)

Ayesha Point of View

Everything becomes unexpected. The treatment I received was the way I didn't know if I deserved it. All I thought, after rejecting him, everything will be changed. All I thought, it was a good decision I could ever do. But it turns out to be the other way around.

Vener was not like the other guy who pursued me or confessed to me that after rejecting them, the treatment had changed and can't accept rejection. Vener was an example of a man who received rejection and doesn't deserve rejection but he didn't take it into the heart and it must be his reason to distance himself from me. Vener was a man who I appreciate the most.

Given the fact that I've been in a relationship before and the time came that I needed to decide whether to continue or not. That decision was to end everything and it doesn't turn out the way I expected it to be because everything has changed. I was hurt and the companionship disappear like a bubble.

For the past few days, Vener treated me like usual. I guess I'm the only one who feels awkward because I know in myself that I shouldn't have done it in the first place. But, I guess it's a good thing.

Well, it was.

But do I need to console myself that what I feel was normal? Or is it because of my guilt?

Maybe, time will tell everything. His treatment to me was my assurance that it is not my fault for rejecting him and made my uneasiness melt.

"Miss Sandoval," Vener called my attention and I lifted my chin to see him. He was standing in front of my desk smiling. "Mr del Gado was asking the report about the Foundation Day and another copy of the proposal of the students that you approved."

I nodded and search for the soft copy stored on my laptop since I have with me the final draft of the report.

"It should be a printed copy," he added.

"Wait. I'll just print it and give it to you afterwards," I said and get an A4 bond paper on my shelves. I was about to stand up to go to the printing section when Vener halted me from doing so. I frowned at his sudden action.

"I can do it. I'm done with my other reports and I guess you're still doing it. I'll do it," he presented and went back to his desk to get his laptop.

He transferred the files from my laptop to his flash drive and inserted his flash drive and get a copy of it to his laptop. I was shocked and yet, I smiled inside. If I didn't know his feelings for me, maybe, I'm still clouded with my thoughts contemplating if I were to assume or not. After that, Vener leaves my desk and proceed to the printing section.

"You know, I have this instinct that Mr Costello have feelings for you," Marga abruptly whispered, enough for me to hear and she poked the side that made me flinched. Her desk was next to mine, that's why she have enough access to tease me. "I can feel it."

I glared at her but her expression doesn't change. I sighed and went back to what I was doing but she immediately stopped me. "Come on, can't you feel any hint of sweetness from him? We can sense it."

I would like to say yes that I am aware of his feelings not because he confessed but I also feel even if others say that I can be a queen of the group of assuming people.

"And knowing him, it is a good thing to assume," she added. I gave her a faked smile that made her rolled her eyes. "If you can't hear any word for him, then hear his actions but hey, don't hear beyond what you see, it might mislead you."

If only you knew, his confession turned into rejection. I sighed and continued what I was doing until I heard the sound of the alarm signal that I had class. I immediately fix my desk and get the things that I will be using in my discussion.

Along my way going to the senior high building where I can pass the printing section, I saw Vener was still printing. I didn't know that he will take this long to do it. I checked the time on my wristwatch and about 5 minutes to go before my class.

I have the urge to help him first before attending my class or I will drop by for a moment to instruct them on what they need to. I was turned between the two. A deep sighed escape from me because I know he have a class to attend.

"Good afternoon, ma'am Ayesha," a group of students greeted me. I greeted them back.

"Let me be the one to carry your things," Terry, one of my students in STEM strand section one, volunteered. I'm glad that this kind of norm, still not losing the habit of being courteous was evident in this new generation. I smiled at the thought that I was once like them, not to brag.

To avoid being unpleasant, I gave him my belongings, which he split amongst himself and others. "You may go first and I'll drop by in the printing section," I said and instructed them to do their activity found in the book. I'll just attend the class afterwards.

Right after that, I entered the printing section. I saw Vener waiting for the copy to be printed since it was already set up.

"Mr Costello, how may I help you?" I said as I checked the printed paper done on the table.

"I'm waiting to be printed. It was almost done." Because everything is set up and we will just wait for the machine to release the printed copy of the reports.

I get the white folder in the drawer and compiled the finished copy.

"Because the machine was being fixed earlier when I arrived so it took a while," he explained though I didn't ask anything. "You have class, right? Why didn't you attend?"

"I was bugged with my conscience letting you did this when the truth is we were both assigned to do it," I paused showing a small smile, " But don't worry, I instructed them what to do, how about you?" He went near the machine and get the remaining copies and we sorted them out.

He smiled and nodded.

We proceeded to the principal's office after finishing to submit Mr del Gado's request. It went quickly because there were no questions and he seemed pleased with the report, which made both of us relieved. We then decided to go to our respective class, but we hadn't yet arrived at the senior high building when a familiar voice called Vener's name.

I turned around and I came to see someone who isn't quite expected to show up here at school.

None other than Gia.
