Chereads / The Mortal God / Chapter 5 - Nygare'Sordom

Chapter 5 - Nygare'Sordom

Everyone stopped dead in their tracks. Their mouths dangling open as shock and fear clouded the atmosphere.

Ebijac looked up to see what he had run into. Even he felt guilty afterwards. For what he ran in to is actually a who. And the who is Nyagre'Sordom, the Emperor and most powerful man to ever live. Despite is young age.

As all rulers do, he is sponsored by Qining, a God who awards nobility and fairness. Something that Nyagre'Sordom is not lacking.

He looked down at Ebijac with pondering eyes. His expression seldomly changed, always leaving an air of mystery around his emotions. But the eyes, they are always focused.

"Stand."

There came a wave of relief as the emperor made the first move.

Ebijac scrambled to his feet. Even some celestial feared Nyagre'Sordom. His power surely did match that of the celestial. Something that no man should or had achieved.

One of the emperor's ambassadors slapped Ebijac behind the ear.

"Have you no respect for the emperor?"

Ebijac rubbed where he had been slapped. He remembered the human formality.

Ebijac bowed, suppressing a grumble.

"What is your name, boy?"

Ebijac gave a distasteful look to the ambassador.

"I am Ebijac, the forsaken god."

The crowd burst out in laughter. The boy, a god? But the emperor showed no sign of emotion. Not even his lips twitched to suppress a smile.

"I have not heard of 'Ebijac' before." The emperor said.

Ebijac sighed.

"My siblings do not wish it. Hence why I am the 'forsaken' god."

"Why are you here?"

"My siblings banished me to mortality. At which point some knights found me and forced me here."

"Why would the gods make another god mortal?"

"I oppose the Celesrial Point System."

Gasp. People looked at the boy in bewilderment. Oppose the CPS? It is unheard of in the great nation. Only the savage tribes of the western mountains oppose the CPS.

"Why would you oppose the CPS? It is evolving humanity to a greater state. Do the celestial not wish best for their greatest creation?"

Ebijac stared the emperor in the eyes. A rude jester to one of such high status.

"The CPS is a game played by my siblings. Humans are but pawns to them. Something they can dictate, which is the opposite of why humanity was created."

"Why was humanity created?"

Ebijac laughed absurdly.

"To be the image of the Titans free of boundries set to them by the Void."

The emperor turned to the crowd taking in their nervous expressions. He then looked at Ebijac. He bent down and whispered into Ebijac's ear.

"Ty'Maign. Is this not the name given to you for your punishment? Do not forget your place."

The emperor straightened and acknowledged the crowd. A chill ran through Ebijac's spin. How many forms of fear do humans experience? This one left him frozen and unable to move.

"This child is Ty'Maign. He shall be adopted by the palace in the house of orphans until adulthood at age sixteen when he shall be free. He shall not face trial."

"If the emperor pleases it, it shall be so." added the ambassador.

Everyone in the courtyard bowed before returning to their duties.

"Come Ty'Maign, I shall personally escort you to the orphan house." the emperor said.

Ebijac had no choice but to obey.
