Chapter 22 - 22. 'Your emotions f*cked you over’

Seeing how agitated Arlo had gotten in the shortest time, Sophia was pleased. No matter how strong a person was, as long as they were driven by emotions, they will fail.

Why?

Because when you control your thoughts and emotions you win everything.

They say that love is blind. Well, in many cases, it is true.

When you love someone you are "blind" to their flaws and to all their imperfections. Loving someone is being blind to all the wrongs they may do no matter the consequences.

Sophia's life was proof of this. She had loved her family, her sister and she was indeed blind. If life was a game, Sophia has by chance re-entered the game with a different character after losing.

It was a second chance for her but for many, they only get one chance to live. That's why to win, you have to control your emotions.

It's okay to feel them and have them but once those emotions start controlling you...

You've lost the game.

There is no more chance.

The bodyguards and mercenaries surrounding her were professionals. They have been at this game for years, but Arlo has started to lose the game. He had started to letting his rage to take over, to let Sophia get to him and control him.

As the only leader available after Leo got knocked out, he would take control of how the other men act. If he starts being irrational, Sophia's chances of winning become significantly higher despite being weak.

Seeing how nonchalant Sophia was acting and the tiny hint of mockery in her eyes, Arlo couldn't hold it in any longer "Get her!"

With his orders, two bodyguards and two mercenaries rushed up towards Sophia. With no time to assess anything, Sophia was caught up in a jumble. Some were aiming punches at her while the others focused on getting her off balance.

No matter which way she tries to avoid it she would end up getting hit by another! As she moved left and right, she still managed to land in a few punches aiming directly at the vital spots of the several men rendering them immobile for a few seconds.

Taking advantage of it, she had managed to beat up the others a bit before the others gained control of their body. However, no matter how fast she landed her hits, there were just too many people!

The first batch of four was beaten up and another four came up to her but each time, she would become weaker than before. She had used up quite a bit of energy fighting and keeping busy the entire day! Besides the lunch she had at noon before leaving, Sophia had only some water.

It was almost two in the morning and she still hadn't eaten any food. She barely had any energy after getting beaten up and carrying those girls into the vans, but now she was being ganged up on by twelve men, not counting the four waiting for her after this batch.

Moving her head back a little bit, she was greeted with the sight of hand-flying right in front of her eyes! A leg was coming towards her waist so she turned to the side. Before she could stabilize her footing, a pair of hands grabbed her shoulders and pulled her to the side.

She let out a cold hiss when her back bumped right onto the sharp edge of a wooden plank. The edge was rather sharp and thin. Sophia felt a numbing pain in her back and was sure that she either had broken a bone or cut deep in her skin. The latter would be the best option considering that a broken bone was never a good thing.

The people watched as she limped on the ground hissing in pain. No matter how badly they wanted to beat her up, they wanted to take their time hence they didn't rush up to her. They wanted to enjoy watching her be in pain.

Thanks to their rather normal and ethical tastes, Sophia was finally able to get a breather! Despite the pain in her body, she felt her head clearing up.

It was at this moment she heard the frantic voice of Sachi who was watching the fight at the side. He was even yelling and trying to get Sophia's attention but alas she was too caught up in the situation that she subconsciously blocked out his voice.

"Master! Just use points to increase your strength, alright?"

Sophia widened her eyes staring at him. 'Why the f*ck are you telling me this now?!'

"You blocked me! I was yelling for the past twenty minutes but you didn't hear me! What was I supposed to do?" Sachi was rather pissed at Sophia. She sure had plenty of ways to make him stressed! "Anyway, just use 10 points to increase your strength and physical capability for the next hour."

A system panel showed up. It showed the power-up option and it required 10 points to get. The power-up would last only for an hour since it was a low-level one. Sophia looked down and saw that she currently had 2,010 points. Surely losing another 10 points to beat these men up was not a problem. In fact, it was the best solution!

Sophia raised her eyes and gave Sachi a resentful glare. Why the f*ck was she beaten up when she could've done them right from the beginning?!

Nonetheless, Sophia accepted and a second later, a sky-blue light resonating from under her collarbone covered her in light. The light had a cooling effect on her body and Sophia felt refreshed. Despite not having moved a muscle, Sophia could tell that her body was stronger than before. The feeling wasn't like when she was Sophia, she could tell that Luna's body was stronger than before. If she wasn't wrong, she was stronger than all those twelve men combined!

Letting out a hidden sneer, Sophia pulled her way up. "We should finish this the right way boys~"

The men were all shocked for a second that she was still able to get up after and talk like this despite having hurt her back just a minute ago! Wasn't she just hissing and curling up in pain just a second ago?! What happened now?!

They obviously didn't expect this but within a moment, their shock was later overtaken by rage. How dare she talk to them like that?!

"B*tch! Looks like you haven't gotten enough beating!"

This time Arlo didn't need to order them at all. They rushed up themselves towards Sophia because of their own rage! However, the outcome wasn't at all what anyone was expecting.

Instead of getting hit a few times like before, Sophia was able to evade their attacks perfectly all the while landing several critical attacks on his men! Arlo couldn't bear to see his men getting beaten up by a little girl but more than that he was even more angry thinking, that his men were going easy on her! How else was the young girl able to beat up his men so effortlessly?

She was legit throwing them left and right! Some of them had even broken their bones while the others couldn't bear to get up from the ground!

Besides Arlo, the four men who were guarding the exits had also come up. They all went up to Sophia with rage fueling them.

Not long after, the four bodyguards were thrown to the side! Each one landed on the sharp edge of the wooden planks lining the entire barn. When they made contact, loud smacks and cracking noises resonated inside the barn followed by the hysterical screaming from all of them.

Sophia didn't give a sh*t about where they landed because no matter what, they wouldn't die and that was all that mattered to her. Even if they break their bones and land in the hospital for years she doesn't give f*ck about it as long they don't die.

It wasn't that Sophia hadn't killed before or was afraid of killing but rather the fact that trouble would find its way to her if any one of them died. Despite their backgrounds in the illegal business, their death would mean loads of trouble for her. She didn't want trouble tailing her.

Thinking of the trouble that would follow if any one of them died, Sophia's eyes turned dark. Arlo just happened to be within her reach hence she made him her punching bag and starting hitting him left and right!

Arlo: "..." [Why do I feel like she is venting some anger on me...? What did I do?!]

Sachi: "..." [Master, you are truly evil. Why are you beating up the man? The others might not die but he definitely will if you keep this up!]
