Chapter 3 - Oath of Death pt. 2

There were seven statues different from the others who held one particular musical instrument. It was a trumpet. It reminds me of the seven trumpets of the apocalypse that were often described in the bible. Those seven statues were a bit bigger than the other ones and they stood behind the much bigger statues of the three faceless gods, their appearance was a bit similar to the gods with the only difference that they had wings and they were a bit smaller…

Bowls of radiant water suddenly started to appear one by one in front of everyone. Each one present wore a dark robe, and they pulled their cape on covering their faces. The sound of prayers and mumblings filled the space and a soft wind came through. The flame of the torches was now pitch black and surprisingly enough they still gave some light.

I couldn't deny that I was a bit scared of the whole deal. There were no memories of Adela ever coming here, or maybe she never had the chance to make some.

The sculpture of the gods began to stand up one by one as if they were being called, their faceless faces could be seen through the robes they wore. The robes started to move with the wind as if they were actual clothes not made of stone. The deafening sound they made for begin immobile for so long resonated inside the temple.

Magic formations started to appear on thin air in front of the god's faceless faces.

A blue screen appeared in front of me, and just like it appeared it disappeared rapidly. All I could understand and read was 'beginning transmission' and 'connecting the gods'. In the end, a message popped up.

[Not enough mana to continue the explanation. Please work harder.]

Excuse me? The gods told me I will have a lot of mana in this world, I guess not everything will come easily. Selfish pricks.

[You will get everything you asked for when you reach the third circle of mana inside of you.]

AH?! THIS SELFISH PRICK. GIVE IT BACK, MY SOUL. GIVE IT BACK!

[Your body will explode if you are given the gifts at such an early stage. Please understand.]

Ah. I guess, that makes a bit of sense… I mean. They are god's blessings right. Powerful… yeah… kind of a bummer though.

I mean, who wants to explode? Not me, pfft. Selfish pricks…

A shrieking sound resonated through the temple, not even with putting my hands on my ears did the sound lessened. The servants and my grandfather looked fine, the only explanation that came to me is that they were withstanding such a horrid sound with their magic.

I would also withstand it but just a few days I go I destroyed my magic circle for trying to scan the whole area.

Stupid magic flunk.

They remained immobile from their spots, all the servants were immersed into looking at the bowl in front of them, my grandfather was too busy mumbling prayers to help me withstand such a sound.

Slowly I looked in the direction of the gods.

The sculptures began to manifest all the same face. A creepy one if I may add, the gods smiled and began to cry tears of blood. Each god took out a stone plate and began to write with their fingers. Blood came out of the names they began to write and everyone present started to cry tears of blood just like them.

Their eyes started to look in all directions as they began writing, the mumblings of the servants began to quicken in pace and get a bit louder but not loud enough for me to understand.

I didn't even notice my nose was bleeding until I felt the liquid running down my chin.

"As such, we make a death oat to the gods. To protect Adela Valentia De Titania Oberon and to not divulge the news of her recovery to the nobles and the royals. The Titania Oberon family will continue to live through with the blessing in curse clothing of only being able to reproduce with our only true love. No love potion nor magic of any kind will be able to break our blessing. Adela will choose who to marry without the noble's intervention."

"WE HEARD YOUR PRAYER."

"BREAK IT AND YOUR SOUL SHALL BE RAVISHED."

"THE DEATH OATH HAS BEEN WRITTEN."

The sudden voices of those faceless gods made a horrible shiver pass through my body, their threats felt real, no, they were real. The clear waters that were once on the bowls became bloody, a magic formation appeared on it and each of the servants' names was engraved in the bowl. The bowls then proceed to turn into dust and a silent wind sweep it away towards the gods' feet.

"MAY ADELA TITANIA OBERON LIVE HER LIFE TO THE FULLEST."

"WE SHALL GIVE HER MORE BLESSINGS."

As if a death sentence was just proclaimed, my grandfather moved from his spot and groveled in front of the gods. He had lowered his head so fast and hard that blood was coming out of his forehead.

"Gods! Please she is still a child! Her body won't withstand your divine blessings!"

"Please reconsider!"

"Please gods!"

Everyone in the room mimicked my grandfather's action. The creepy faces of the gods became creepier as their smiles became wider with each plea.

You would have thought that a god would look 'angelic', I did too, but man was I wrong. I am pretty sure I almost soiled my pants.

The first time I met them they had a 'human figure' but I could not see anything else other than light coming from them, even after they stole my soul. Their sudden appearance in this world will always have me traumatized.

"THIS CHILD IS NOT JUST LOVED BY US YOUR GODS."

"BUT ALSO, BY EVERY LIVING THING WE HAD MADE."

"THE FAE AND THE SPIRITS WILL SOON VISIT HER TO MAKE HER BODY STURDIER AND GIVE THEIR SUPPORT."

"AND WE WILL APPEAR ONCE AGAIN IN FRONT OF HER"

"TO BLESS HER."

"WE HEARD YOUR PRAYERS, TAKE CARE OF YOUR SOULS."

Just like that, my second encounter with those selfish pricks was made.
