Chapter 2 - The 18th

"Happy Birthday, Honey!" My mom greeted me as I descended from the stairs. My eyes lit up when I saw her holding a cake with a lit up candle on it.

I walk-run down the stairs and ran to her. "Wow, Caramel! Thanks, Mom!" I couldn't hide my greatfulness in her little surprise.

"Umuahhh! Anything for my Baby" She said as she kissed my cheek. "Blow out the candles, Honey" I giggled at her.

"Wohhhhh..." She clapped her hands like a child. This is just my mom a childish happy adult. Just how I like it.

She lowered the cake on our table and grabbed both my shoulders. "So... When are your friends coming?" she asked me with an excited face.

My heart cracked for me and my mom. "Mom... I only have one, so it's just friend, not 'friends'" I tried joking.

Her face became sad, but turned into a serious face in a blink. "Anyway, you're 18 now. Once you found your mate, you'll know everyone around him too. And you'll be happier than before" She was encouraging me.

Mate…

"You really think so, Mom?" I worriedly asked her. "Just like how Dad and You met?" I could feel fear all over my body.

Her eyes lit up at the mention of my Dad. "Of course!" she answered with no hesitation. "You will find your mate, He will love you for who you are. So don't worry" she said reassuring me.

His every word hit me like a grenade.

"enough.... please...." I begged him. " Y-you don't have to continue... I-I get it now." I whimpered along with my wolf. "

...

"Then... Let me end it for you..." He suddenly offered, making me look at him in confusion. " I...."

Oh no....

"Kade Yarbury...."

N-No!! Not Like this!

"...rejec---"

"--STOP!" I finally shouted to stop him. He looked at me with a sharp gaze. "... not like this... G-give me time... please" I pleaded with him. "It's my birthday..."

"..." he raised his eyebrow at me. I looked at him with begging eyes. " Three months." he said in finale before bumping his shoulders at me before walking away.

I leaned my head on the wall, and let the tears fall down my cheeks.

You said that when I found my mate... He'd accept me... But why is he the worst of them all...

I thought to myself feeling hopeless.

It took all my energy to walk home that night. I turned the knob and went in.

"Honey!" I flinched. Lifting my face up with a hurt look. "So, did you find your mate?" she asked excitedly.

It was like a thousand ants were gnawing my heart. To hide my face I just hugged her. Holding my tears back I managed to fake a smile. "I couldn't find him, Mom." I lied.

She was gonna remove my grip but I just hugged her more tightly. She chuckled at my actions. "Oh, Honey... He just might be at another pack, that's why..." My mom reasoned out.

I nodded like I believed her words. "Yeah..." I answered as i but my lips harder.

"Aren't you happy? if your mate is at another pack, then you'll definitely have a love story like your dad and I." she excitedly explained making my chest feel more pain.

"Zara, Why are you crying?" I heard a male voice called me.

My eyes widened in surprise when I recognized his voice. I quickly raised my head to look at the man that had been gone for a year and half.

"D-Dad?!" I exclaimed as I loosened my hug on mom and looked at her in confusion.

She smiled at me and said. "Go..."

Running in excitement. I hugged the man infront of me. "D-Dad!"

I had to jump high because Dad is Tall.

He happily accepted my hug and swung me around. "How's my baby doing?" He asked me loosening his hug.

I looked at him in doubt. "A bit sad, Dad. I couldn't find my mate anywhere." I lied to him. Squinting his eyes he caressed my cheeks.

He chuckled. "My baby want things to get faster, eh?" He teased.

I faked a laugh. "I just want the same things you and mom experienced as a couple, Dad..." I lowered my head to hide the pain. "...but why does it seem so impossible?" I asked out of nowhere.

Dad reached for my chin and raised it, making me look at him. "Come on, now. I'm sure you'll find your mate."

I bit my lips to hold back my tears." Y-yeah, maybe he's just at another pack." I lied to myself as I removed Dad's hand from my chin. "...like what mom said"

Oh, How I wish he really was from another pack....

The two looked at each other before looking back at me. "Come on now... Where's Daddy's little Lycan princess?" My Dad tried to cheer me up but ended up only irritating me.

I looked at him with mad eyes. "Dad, don't say that here. If someone finds out I'm half Lycan, they'll fear me and I won't have any friends anymore."

(Note: Lycans are the purest and strongest kind of wolves. There are only one clan in the whole world where Lycans are found. That's why Lycans are feared, for they are mysterious and merciless. Zara's Dad is one of the most respected Lycan Warriors. But that information is Classified, and so is Zara's bloodline. The probability of having a Lycan mate for another species is only 1 out of 7.1 billion )

My dad covered his mouth with his hand and looked side to side, my mom laughing at his actions. I rolled my eyes at their childishness.

*Ding Dong!

All of our attentions were at the door. "I'll get it." My mom volunteered.

My Dad reached for my hand and pulled me to the Dining room. I was surprised by how many dishes were at the table.

He pulled a chair for me. "You're a lady, now." He smiled at me before motioning me to seat. "My baby is finally a lady now"

I chuckled at my dad's actions before sitting down. "And you're too old for this, Dad." I teased him in which  made him frown.

"Look who's here!" I heard my mom exclaim. I turned my gaze to the Dining hall and saw my best friend with my mom.

I stood up and went to her. "You came." I whispered.

"You left me at school, where'd you go?" She asked in worry. "Did something happen?"

I winked at her and motioned her to shush. She nodded and decided to sit beside me.

The dinner went smooth and for a moment I forgot that painful memory. But when I went to my room and got ready to sleep, I broke down.

My wolf cried with me, until both of us got tired and slept.
