A week later...
"Hey, have you heard?" Faye asked me out of nowhere. We are currently eating ice cream at our favorite snack shop.
I looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "Shoot"
She went near my ears and whispered the gossip. "Tonight, the future alpha will mark his mate"
I froze. My mind went blank for a moment. I couldn't grasp the situation. My friend shaked my shoulders in worry. "Hey, why are you turning pale?"
I looked at her and composed myself. No one should know, I'll be the laughing stock, if ever. " N-Nothing, I just don't feel good."
She rolled her eyes at me and averted her gaze. " I almost thought, you liked the future Alpha." She joked actually hitting a jackpot.
I turned my head and looked at my ice cream. "You silly, I don't think that I would even have the qualification to look at him."
"Hey!" She yelled at me. "Even if he's the Alpha, and we are just pack wolves, it's not right to lower your pride for him." She said getting mad at me.
"Pack wolf or Alpha, you both have equal rights." She corrected me.
I laughed at myself. "Oh, how I wish I think the same as you."
"So...." she looked at me in excitement. "You wanna come with me? We both have to find our mates, right?" she asked.
If only you know that my mate will definitely be there.
Hesitant, I still agreed to come. " it's a must, so I won't have a choice anyway."

That night, I went with my mom inside, while Dad stayed at home. We stood at the middle row to get a better view, but the whole way of thinking to get a better view is not that beneficial to me.
"Ladies and gentlewolves, Welcome to the future Alpha's marking ceremony." Alpha Kin announced at the stage.
On cue, Cristina entered the stage and walked to the center. After her, Kade entered. He positioned himself behind her.
My wolf peeked through my eyes and wagged her tail at the sight of her mate, but I could only pity us.
"Cristina Ferrer, daughter of the Beta, do you take this marking ceremony to your heart?" Alpha Kin asked Cristina.
"Yes, Alpha" she answered with a sweet smile. I could see happiness in both Kade and Cristina's eyes.
"Are you ready to carry the responsibilities of being the Alpha's Luna?"
"Yes, Alpha." she answered again with no hesitation, making the Alpha and the Luna smile at her.
"Then Let the marking begin!"
With that Kade tilted Cristina's head on the right to get a better view of her neck.
Please....
Have second thoughts...
I beg you...
Out of nowhere, my wolf took over and telepathically howled at her mate, but it was too late. Kade bit Cristina's neck while looking at us.
My wolf weakened and just whimpered as she lost all her energy.
...
...
...
"Hey, Honey... Are you alright?" Mom asked worriedly making me snap back to reality. Slowly, claps echoed the whole place.
I ran away without uttering a word. I ran and ran ran and ran... until I reached the top of a hill.
There I cried to my hearts content and transformed into my wolf, Howling cries of losing a mate.
So it was true, morphing from human to wolf and back is easier when your heart is in pain.
Transforming back into a human. I flopped on the grass, I looked at the blurry moon. Words that Faye said echoed in my head.
"Even if he's the Alpha, and we are just pack wolves, it's not right to lower your pride for him."
"Pack wolf or Alpha, you both have equal rights."
"...the right to be loved..."
I mocked myself. " Maybe she's right... and I need to clear my head."
On second thought... I think she is a hundred percent right...
Just hang in there my wolf... I'll find a way for us to stop this excruciating pain.
I'll definitely make him have second thoughts.
