Chapter 9 - Pain

The shot bounced off it's black shell. Zilla swung with an uppercut. Hitting its disk shaped head. It titled and was disoriented for a second. Then it's scythe hand swung. She blocked it with her armor. Sparks began to flash as the blade moved up, then down her armor. Dale aimed at the monsters scythe and fired again. The projectile managed to hit, forcing it's blade to turn. Then Zilla raised her hand, forcing it's scythe to move upwards to the sky. She grabbed its disk like head and smashed it into the building on the right. Then she stomped on its leg. A loud crack echoed. She stomped again, and another crackling sound. The sound hurt his ears, but he kept his cannon ready. He couldn't get a clear shot at his wierd angle. Especially at how she kept moving left and right so quickly.

Zilla then swung her fist. One punch after another. Dale felt the force of each punch, but he couldn't see well. Was it working?

"Whats happening?" Dale asked.

"Done. It wont be moving in that state..I broke its arms and legs, but it's body is too tough." She said.

"Are you tired?" Dale asked.

"Heck yeah I'm tired!" She replied.

"Alright, alright…you're doing great. We'll take a break." Dale said.

The second kaiju landed in the sea. Causing a large wave of water to pour into the streets. It looked like a tsunami just hit, or some kind of flood. Dale looked up at the sunset. The sun was orange, taining the blue sky with a purple hue. If he just focused on that sunset. He wouldn't even know that a tragedy was happening.

"I think I'm good. I can smell the kaiju." Zilla said.

"R-really? What do they smell like?" Dale asked. He took a snif of the cool air, but he could only smell a sulphery smell.

"It smells burnt..or maybe toasted..like crispy modef bark." Zilla said as she began to take steps towards the ocean. Dale tried to ignore the crunching sounds she made at each step. If he didn't, he'd get an ulcer just imagining the damage she caused.

"Right…thats kinda obvious." Dale said.

They had a clear view to the ocean. From that angle, Dale could see the orange glittering ocean. Then a massive mound. A large black shiny head burst out of the water. In a way it looked like a snakes head, but it had legs.

"Are you good with water fights?" Dale asked.

"Ugh, you know I'm not…I'm a ground trooper. Are you feeling alright? I noticed you aren't acting like usuall." Zilla asked.

"I'm fine, let's focus on this bastard and we can chat later." Dale said. Beads of sweat began to run down his forehead. He knew she was now suspicious. Im a way, he felt like an ass for basically lying to her.

Zilla swung the first punch and the monster dodged it. The fact she missed took her by susprise too and she was falling forward. The monster turned and swung its tail. Destroying crane equiptment and a whole ship before hitting Zilla. Dale felt that one as his body hit the platform wall again. This time he felt pain in his upper back. The pain wasn't going away. Neither getting weeker or stronger and that terrified him. He began to drool as he layed on the floor. Staring up at the dark blue sky. He focused on the stars as the pain ached. Hoping he could focus the pain away with some kind of meditation. It wasn't stopping though. He found himself taking small fast breaths in the agony of it. For the first time, Dale wished his mother was there. His father, somebody to comfort him and get him to the hospital. Any kind if help.

"Are you alright Master Kilo?" Zilla asked.

She took another swing and it hit the tar colored creature. Dale found he could manage that level of commotion, but if Zilla was hit by the enemy. He might be killed.

"I…..can't….move." Dale managed to say.

"I'm withdrawing! I cannot fight if you're injured. I'm sorry I let you down, Master." Zilla said.

Dale felt tears streaming down his eyes. It wasn't the pain that cuased him to cry. It was the image of his parents dying. He had been on bad terms with them, but he still loved them.

Two winged creatures landed on the platform. One was silver and the other blue. Dale thought they maybe tiny kaiju's, but he noticed Senko mounted on the black one. He dropped his gaurd at the signt of her.

"Are you alright?" Senko asked.

"Let's get you out of here, or else Zilla won't be able to fight. Bobo and Senko, you cover Zilla for now." The blue dragon ordered.

"Stella?" Dale said.

"Yeah, it's me Stella." She said.

Dale managed to hop on her back. It wasn't very rider freindly, but he managed to stay on. Once they reached a safe spot, she transformed back into her human form.

"We have to hurry so we can help Zilla." She said as she held her hand near his shoulder. A green pentigram began to glow. Then, the aching pain seemed to melt away. It felt warm too.

"Its gone." Dale said in surprise.

"Thank God. I didn't know if my spell would work." Stella said in releif.

A loud screech peirced the air. Stella turned back to see the fight.

"Alright..the plan is simple. You and Bobo will blind it by hitting its eyes. Me and Zilla will focus on raw attacks." Dale said.

"You don't get it…you slow Zilla down. So I suggest you and I, Bobo and Senko, shoot its eyes." Stella said.

"Are you implying…"

"Yes..you can ride me, but no homo. I was a man in my past life. I still consider myself a dude." She said with an agitated expression.

"And you can fill me on on your story after this, right?" Dale said.

"Right." She said.

"Alright, since I don't have a gun. I'll be your second set of eyes, then." Dale said.

"That works." Stella said.

Stella shifted back into the blue dragon. Her body was seemingly matalic. In a way she reminded him of the blue eyes white dragon in how intimidating she looked.

The flew over quickly and Dale saw Zilla being tackled through two buildings.

"We better hurry, she's getting beat." Dale said.

Senko fired her sling shots at it's eye. It blocked it by rasing its skinny hands. Stella opened her mouth and shot a ball of fire. The shot hit the monster's hand and it exploded on impact. Like some kind of explosive round.

Zilla threw a punch at the monster and it fell back.

The spikes on Zilla's back began to glow. At his prespective, he noticed Zilla's bloody nose. Her cut lip, and her partially burnt bang. She had a determined look on her face, like she was prepared to die for a cause. But why was she fighting? Dale wondered. This had been Dales home, but why was she fighting? Then he remembered Kilo. Whoever Kilo was must be some hell of a guy. Maybe even someone she loved. And he had grabbed that fact and used it like a tool. He knew white lies were bad, even if they just happened conveniently. It was always best to have great clear communication with people. It just worked best that way. Dale shamefully covered his face and broke into tears.

Zilla raised her arm and part of her armor detached from her side. Revealing a large chain saw like weapon. It had green glowing teeth and it began to spin into a green disk. She grabbed the salamander by the skinny arms. The monster gave a screech, as if it knew what was coming next. Then she brutally stabbed it's chest with the saw. Black liquid began to pour into the streets like a flood of oil. A few minutes later of her cutting it up, the skeltion was exposed. Even then she cut the ribs and bones up. It looked like a butchered animal after the hunt.

"Thats enough Zilla." Dale finally said at the sight of the gory mess.

Stella and Dale landed by her on a rooftop. Zilla looked at them now.

"I was worried about you, Kilo.." She was tearing up too. If she was normal sized, she'd probibly make a good wife, Dale thought.

"I..have something I need to tell you…" Dale felt his chest tighten. He felt like he was about to break up with somebody forever. It was an ugly feeling where you knew you were in the wrong.

"What is it?" Zilla wiped her tears away.

"Just know I do see you as a freind, but…but..I'm not Kilo..my name is Dale Oliver." He said.

"I'm sorry and I can explain…" Dale said.

Zilla's eyes widened, then her shocked expression shifted into a cold scowl.
