Chapter 58 - Guilt

Zaiden squeezed Ellen' hands with immense anger rising within him. Hestia, his mother took part in the war fought between all the classes to achieve one supreme leading sect. However the image didn't clearly show that whether she died or was kept as a prisoner. But one was certain, Hestia had already birthed Zaiden by then and returned to the vampire realm. The question was, why would she come back and for what? Or perhaps for whom?

Ellen opened her eyes and gently tried to pull back her hands in confusion. While Zaiden clenched her tightly, the link was still established due to the skin contact. But that was also the cause she attempted to free her hands. In the state of impulsively driven by the rage Zaiden' hands began to release the very same black smoke.

Within his subconscious brain he saw a man within his demonic form, his face had bare veins and burnt marks.....flying in the sky and pricking one of his feather. He chanted something and the feather turns blaze, the man threw it aiming at Hestia. The burning feather turns into a metallic one and pierces her through heart.

"NO! STOP!"

Zaiden shouted in anger and opened his eyes, whereas Ellen tried to console him. She reached for his shoulder with a genuinely concerned expression, but Zaiden pushed her back with all his might. His eyes turned crimson and black blood began to pop out of his sockets.

"Owh! What the heck-"

Ellen stood up from the floor while rubbing the back of her head. Zaiden threw her off the mattress out of nowhere which caught her off the guard. She witnessed the bloodlust in his eyes and hopped back in fright.

"Zaiden, what are you doing? Come back to senses!"

She tried to calm him but the boy was overwhelmed and under the influence of blind rage. Zaiden was told that his mother disappeared but he just came to know that she died. How ironic, she lost her life for those cowards who erased her existence from their so-called resplendent history.

Zaiden' brain was clouded with just one thought, his mother sacrificed her life for wrong people. She died while protecting her kind, the same race which tried to kill him, manipulate and extract every ounce of blood from his veins! He leaped towards Ellen using his super speed within the room big enough to hold two people easily.

Elle reflexively dodged him since she was full blooded vampire and self trained. Hence her abilities differed from those who relied on the feeding of the academy. He averted his head at Ellen who appeared on his right, Zaiden snarled at her with resentment.

"You! You are the ones responsible for my mother's death!"

His voice got deeper and the black blood which shot from his eyes had dried up. It gave Zaiden an imposingly dangerous appearance, Ellen tried to reason out with him. She had no clue what he was talking, since after the war every single page containing any information about the noble bloods was ripped off!

"Look, Zaiden...why are you behaving like this? We can talk about it, right?"

Ellen didn't move from her spot instead she tried to summon her element. But somehow due to his demonic restraints she was unable to focus. The back aura coiled around Zaiden's body as he stepped with a cold stare towards Ellen. The girl was left with only one option, she needed to rely on her physical training now.

Zaiden stood in the way of the door which made her curse under breath. Ellen decided to enrage him so he would summon his element, and due to the elemental detectors present in every room she would be saved. But Ellen had no clue what kind of spell or energy he was using in that moment.

Before he could do something Ellen promptly dashed towards him, she pushed her body upwards and by kicking the bed she aided her act. Ellen went airborne and aimed to punch in the face while mustering the pressure. However Zaiden didn't move any inch from his place rather the smoke accumulated in between him and Ellen.

"Do you dare negotiate me, huh? You cannot undo the cruelty done by your kind to your own people. You all will pay for it! I will avenge my mother!"

Zaiden gritted with his crimson orbs staring nonchalantly at her, he didn't have any trace of mercy within his eyes. The smoke coiled around her neck and tightened, Ellen was practically being choked by him.

"Zai...Zaiden, why are you doing....all this?"

Ellen could barely manage to speak, the demonic smoke began to burn her skin. Zaiden was noble blood and since Ellen was pure blood, hence she was vulnerable to his half human-vampire powers. Tears flowed down her cheeks but it didn't affect him at all. Zaiden lifted his right hand and the next sound heard in the room was of bones cracking.

His merciless gaze blankly stared at Ellen' dead body while the smoke engulfed it leaving no remnants behind. Zaiden' eyes returned to normal as he slumped and knelt on his knees.

"What...what have I done?"

His mind was clouded with anger earlier which cooled down, but the very next moment Zaiden felt guilty about killing an innocent vampire.
