Ivory's POV
Not wanting to question him further, I went a tad and opened the door to reveal that half of the seats were already full "you must be Ivory?" I heard someone speak from the side of the classroom.
Turning my gaze I was met with a blonde girl who seemed to be in her early 20's "that's me" I responded simply.
"Alright then… It's nice to meet you. My name is Ms. Lucinda and I'll be your teacher. Now go and take a seat"
Instead of speaking, I nodded my head slightly before walking over to an empty seat at the back of the class, where you'd normally find me. I saw Ian giving me a weird look before sitting in a seat in front of me. I went to question why he didn't sit next to me but kept it on for later.
"Alright so le-" Ms. Lucinda started but it was cut short by the door slamming open "Ramon… I told you to stop doing that"
That name had caught my sudden interest, making me look towards the door only to find that it was actually him. My best friend of years was standing right there but the look on his face had told me a different story as he walked over.
"Are you going to move or?..." he trailed off, looking down at me annoyed.
I narrowed my eyes at him for a quick second before speaking "excuse me?"
He just stood there, unfazed "did I stutter?"
"You better have" I uttered, thinking he'd stop it from there but I was caught off guard when he kept at it.
"What gave you the right to talk to me like that?" He said, raising his voice.
"I should be asking you the same" I mimicked his tone, knowing for a fact that he wasn't supposed to talk to me like that either.
He gave me a look as if I weren't supposed to say that "I'm guessing you're new here?"
"I don't know, am I Ray?" He waited for a while, taking in the probably familiar sounding name.
"Ivy?" He seemed slightly unsure
"Who else?" I asked, noticing how he started to be more apprehensive "why did you stop? Go on continue"
He didn't instead, he just froze up "I thought you moved away"
He spoke more to himself than me but I responded anyway "yeah well my family was here and so was my best friend… Speaking of which, do you know him? His name is Ramon Garcia"
"Ivy just s-"
"Sit down" I pointed at the chair, finally noticing how all of the attention was placed on us. He went to say something else but I stopped him "don't"
...
The rest of the classes flew by quickly with Ramon just keeping quiet, not even making an effort to talk to me while Ian just kept sending me questionable looks. It's currently lunchtime and being honest, I'm famished as per usual, not that I'm going to eat the food given here. I've never wanted from a school canteen before considering I just find it unhealthy. I don't know why but I've heard several stories about how children would constantly get poisoned by canteen food following poor health guidelines,
"What's up with Ramon?" I asked Ian, sitting down on a table next to him.
"Like I said… People change" he shrugged "it's not that deep"
I went to say something before I could, someone cut me off "Ivy?" I didn't say anything, keeping quiet "can we talk?"
"I don't know Ramon… Have you learned how to yet?" I didn't turn around instead I just sat there speaking to him while he stood behind me.
"Look, Ivy I didn't mean to say it to you"
"So you do that to anyone?" the silence answered my question perfectly "I guess you did change"
It stayed silent for a while, signaling me he probably had left "that's what you meant huh?" I turned towards Ian who nodded.
"You should talk to him… You seem to be the only one who can even get as close as that. It's like he's stone-hearted at times" I sat there staring at Ramon from afar "that's why they were all staring, they knew you were his best friend and still are... Maybe, I don't know"
...….
"Ivy please" Reta spoke in a sort of begging like tone as I stood leaning my back against our kitchen counter "just one"
"No that's mine" I replied, copying all my other answers.
"I'm your sister"
"It's my food" I mimicked her tone, knowing I wasn't going to give it to her no matter what she does.
"You heard her" I am walked into the kitchen, speaking, earning a glare from Reta "I'm the only one that can get it"
He went to take a piece if by brownie but I was quick to hit his hand before it could reach it, acquiring for him to retreat it back "don't even try it"
"Fine… Ms. Selfish" he rolled his eyes "by the way… I was thinking, maybe we can watch a movie or something tonight"
"Wait… hold up... Ian, did you tell her yet?" Reta ignored me as she spoke towards him.
"I'm still here you know?" I placed in before Ian could say anything.
I stood there, annoyance evident on my face "she knows"
"Ohh… how do you feel about it?" she directed at me this time.
"I don't know… how is a normal human supposed to react when they find out their best friend changed?" I answered her question with one of my own, earning nothing but dead silence from her "exactly… Now can we just focus on movie night?" I changed the subject before it could continue on for longer, having a feeling that it wouldn't end up well if we kept going.
"Right… I'm picking the movie" Ian raised his hand up volunteering.
"I'm picking the food" Reta cloned both his voice and his actions.
Directing my gaze at her, I raised a brow. It took a while but when it finally clicked inside her head she pulled her hand back down slowly "no brownies, got it"
