Chapter 7 - Chapter seven

Ivory's POV

Looking around alarmed, my gaze shifted onto a long table that seemed to have a cupboard under it, just the right size to fit us in. We wouldn't have much room but it was better than nothing considering the voice came straight from our exit.

"Can we hide in there?" My tone came out as soft as a whisper in which I was positive they could barely hear.

"I think so" Reta answered in the same quiet tone, making me practically run towards it sliding the door open. Ian cut in front of me getting in first and Reta got in next making me the last to get in. Luckily there was no equipment laying around the place except for a small briefcase, giving us just enough space to fit in.

There wasn't much space so we were packed in there tightly, not able to move once I closed the door.

"So what? She just doesn't run out?" A woman's voice spoke from outside the small cupboard.

"Stop breathing all over me" Reta scolded at Ian, making sure to keep her voice soft but harsh.

"So what? I shouldn't breath?"

"If that stops it than yes, you should consider it" she uttered, annoyance clear as day in her tone.

"Shut up... I want to hear them" I placed in, grabbing their attention and their silence.

"That's a good thing" another man spoke from out side.

"How so?" She asked, sounding irritated already.

Moving my hand on the sliding door, I went to open it but before I could Reta grabbed my arm, mumbling "don't"

"I'll be careful, just a peek" she waited for a quick second before letting go, giving me the ability to slide the door open just a bit, enough for me to see what was happening.

There stood an unfamiliar blonde woman, seeming to be in her early twenty's. The guy standing in front of her seemed to be in his late fourty's. Most of his hair was gray and he held a clip board in his hand.

"Well for one, no one had the same blood type and as long as she doesn't run out. We don't need to worry about finding someone to do blood donations if something were to happen to her" the men replied, sounding confident in his findings.

"I don't get why Eve doesn't want to tell her, the girl needs to know" the blonde one said, taking a seat at a chair directly in front of our table "it's her body, she should be able to make the choices"

"Yes but-"

"But what? What'll she think once she finds out about all this? Better to tell her now if you ask me" she cut him off.

"No wonder she's not asking you. Besides, she's still trying to figure out what happened" he started "so till she finds out all she needs to know, she can wait. All we need to do is help her when she needs it most"

"Alright but don't blame me if something were to happen" she said turning her chair to face away from the man.

He stood quiet before speaking up "I'm going to go. I have a family dinner tonight"

"You're forgetting your suitcase again" she called out, grabbing all three of our attention. At this point all our eyes were on the brown case that rested near Ian.

"Give it to me" I mouthed, not letting out any noise, knowing she could hear us from where she was seated.

There was a small crack noise as he took it, making him stop for a quick second before handing it to me. It was challenging to get it over Reta but we managed.

"Move over" Reta whispered towards Ian, who gave us a look as if it were impossible before moving even the slightest bit back.

Reta followed along and I did as well, trying to move as far away from the door as possible. Once we were a few inches away I placed the case near the entrance, hoping she wouldn't open it too much.

I could hear her hand being placed on the door siding it a bit but before she could get further it got stuck. My head shot towards Ian only to see Reta's hand placed over his mouth, covering even the slightest noice if he were to make one. The cupboard door had slid on his foot slightly, smashing his pinky slightly.

She went to push it more only adding to the look of pure pain on Ian's face. Once she finally realized it wasn't moving she stopped and grabbed the case from the small place there was, pulling it out and closing the door shut afterwards.

"Ouch" Ian let out, as soft as a whisper, holding onto his foot.

Moving back to our original spots, I opened the door ajar again, in order to peek out. The man wasn't there and the woman seemed too focused on the screen in front of her to move away.

"Mom will be home in about fifteen more minutes" Reta let out enough for only us to hear.

"I doubt we'll be able to get out before she comes back" Ian uttered, his face looking terrified "I know you're both going to blame this on me"

"Who else are we blaming it on?" Reta said back, keeping up with her shushed tone.

"I wasn't the one that practically begged to come down here" Ian pointed out as a matter of fact.

"Is someone there?" I heard the woman call out, my eyes going as wide as saucers with panic setting in yet again.

Knowing my breath had quickened, I placed a hand on my mouth and tried to contain the amount of noice, noticing ho the whole place was pitch silent. If anything, even the simplest noice were to happen, we pull get caught and something tells me that wasn't the best option.

It took a few seconds but afterwards she went to go back to her work only to be cut off by a certain noice, coming from inside the cupboard we sat in "don't expect me to hold it" Ian said as if we were the crazy ones.
