Tetsuo Naru's POV
"Excuse me, can I ask where room 14C is? I'm visiting a friend of mine."
"Certainly, please follow me and I'll take you to room 14C."
"Thank you."
I received a text from Death after I woke up from my suicidal dream visit from Death, that's what he likes to call it. Death calls the visits he gets as suicidal dream visit or SDV for short. Anyway, the text I received from Death went like this:
"Go to the hospital and ask the nurse to take you to room 14C. That's where your purpose is.
Love, Death.
P.S. Don't reply to this message as I have no intentions in replying to you as I cannot and don't want to be bothered. Good day."
I did what Death told me to do in his text and I am now at the hospital, walking towards the room 14C where Death wants me to go.
I was surprised after reading the message I received from him, surprised to know that he has a phone or something, that or he just uses his death abilities or whatever.
"Here is room 14C." The nurse stated, stopping in front of a door.
"Thank you."
The nurse smiled and she took her leave, walking down the halls of the hospital.
I stood in front of the door, wondering what Death meant when he said that I'll find my purpose beyond the door of room 14C. I took deep breaths as I started knocking on the door. I waited for a few minutes for a response, but nothing. I knocked again and still no response.
I was about to leave when I received a text message, it was from Death.
"Stop knocking and just go inside! You can't grow unless you go! That didn't make any sense nor is it relevant to what you are doing. Just go inside!
Love, Death.
P.S. Still, don't reply nor text this number as I will never answer you due to the fact that I don't give a stuff."
"Okay...?" I muttered to myself, slowly opening the door. My eyes grew wide at the sight that I saw inside the room. There's a girl with white silk hair sitting on a hospital bed, looking at me. The girl doesn't say a word as she just sit still, staring at me.
She's probably wondering why I entered her room without her permission, that and who the fudge am I. "S-sorry for coming in without your permissio---" My sentence was cut short after I noticed something in her hand.
She's holding a pair of scissors and she has them aiming at her throat, as if she was going to stab her throat with the scissors!
"H-hey!" I shouted, running towards her, grabbing her hand with the scissors. "What do you think you're doing!?"
"I'm ending my life! What does it look like I'm doing!?" She answered fighting back, trying to free her hand from my grasp. "Let me go! I don't want to live anymore!"
"I won't allow you to do that!"
"Why not!? Who are you anyway!?"
While the two of us kept fighting over the scissors, I heard the door open and the two of us turned to look who was at the door, it was the nurse who showed me the room.
The nurse stood at the door, staring at us before she lets out a sigh. "Tatsumi, haven't I told you to stop trying to end your life?"
"Tch." The girl on the bed rolled her eyes, pulling back her hands from my grasps, the scissors being left in my hands. "If you know how I feel then you would do what I'm doing as well." The girl, Tatsumi stated as she turned her head away from the direction of the nurse and towards the windows pointing outside her room.
As she keeps looking outside, I noticed that she has a scar on her left cheek, running all the way to her neck. I couldn't help myself but to stare and wonder what happened to her.
I stopped looking at her scar when the nurse walked towards her, handing her a glass of water and a medicine.
"Here, it's time for your medicine."
"I don't want it."
"Tatsumi, you need to drink this so you'll get better, so you'll be strong enough for your operation."
"What's the point? There's no clear chance of me surviving that operation anyway."
"It might not be clear, but there's still a chance. Try focusing on the positive side of things for once, please?"
There was silence as the nurse kept her hand out, waiting for Tatsumi to take the medicine and the glass of water.
Tatsumi lets out a sigh as she took the medicine, drinking the glass of water. The nurse gave a soft smile at Tatsumi as she started taking medicines from the small drawer besides Tatsumi's bed.
"I'm sorry for what you saw, I promise that we are taking very good care of your friend." The nurse stated as she gives a bow before leaving the room.
As the nurse leaves, closing the door behind her, Tatsumi spat out the medicine and threw it into the trash can. I looked at her and she just stares at me, staring at me as if she's telling me not to tell anyone that she spat out the medicine.
Silence quickly fills the room again as I stood around, Tatsumi looking out through her window. The silence was quickly cut as Tatsumi started talking, asking me questions.
"Who are you?"
"Hm?" I was got by surprise as I wasn't paying attention to her.
"Answer me, who are you?" She asked the second time, that time I was paying attention.
"Oh, uhmm, I'm Tetsuo, Tetsuo Naru. And you are?" My eyes widened as I realized that I sounded rude, asking what her name is after hearing the nurse call her name. She stares at me, the stare that says that she's irritated at me. "T-Tatsumi... You're Tatsumi."
"There's an information paper on this bed, read all of my information if you like." Tatsumi said coldly as she kept on looking outside her window.
"Is it okay if I read it?"
"Do whatever you want with it. Spread it all over social media for all I care, I'm not going to live anyway."
I walked towards her bed and at the bottom of it was the information paper she was talking about. I took it and started reading everything that was written on it, I did get permission from her and all.
Name: Tatsumi Mio
Age: 16
Sex: Female
Birthday: May 21, 2005
Blood Type: O+
"You done reading?" She asked, I lowered the paper and there I saw that she was looking at me.
"Oh, uhh, yeah, I'm done reading." I answered, placing the paper back on the bed.
"Good, now take your leave and let me take my rest."
"What do you mean by let you take your rest?" I asked, worried that she'll end her life. I can't let her do that, Death won't let me die if she dies! And I cannot not die! I want to escape this world, end everything!
"What do you think I meant by rest? I'm going to sleep." Tatsumi answered coldly, lying down on the bed, turning to her side. "So leave."
I stood still, thinking if I should leave or not. I waited a few more minutes before finally deciding to take my leave. I closed the door behind me as I left her room, thinking about the things that just happened.
Is this the purpose Death told me? My purpose is to not let her die? If so, then I have to and need to not let her die. My peace is at stake here, if I want the voices in my head to end, I need to let her live. If she dies, then the voices won't let me rest.
"You shouldn't be alive."
"You're a nobody."
"You're useless."
"You're a nuisance."
"You're a mistake."
But how can I not let her die? She seemed to have lost hope in everything.
