I was helping them pack when someone grabbed my arm. "What?" I asked, looking behind me.
"Can you keep Xavier with you?" Mother asked.
"Yea why what is it?" I asked her.
"Rayrich is acting out and I do not want him around when someone gets hurt more than likely Rayrich."
"Yea I can do that Mother." I said softly, smiling at her.
"Great, I will send him to help you."
"We are done here, we just have to get everything into the cart." One of the others said as they closed the box I was working on.
"Great let's roll." Mother said as she walked with me to my Uncle and Father. "The cars are about a mile from here."
"Good idea not to bring them." I said.
"Can we please run?" One of the Lamia knights asked.
"Only if you want to carry people." I said to him.
He opened his mouth and then Queen Lamia stepped in. "The young Princess is right, if we want to run then we would need to carry the people around us."
"Piggy back ride?" Xavier asked me.
"I will give you one." I said getting down so he can get up onto my back and handed him my pack. "Come on, let's go." I said I stood up and started walking with the others.
"So if you're not going to fall can we read another chapter of the book." Xavier asked me.
"Do you want to read it or do you want me too?" I asked.
"I can read it if you want." He said.
"Okay the books in my bag on the top." I told him as he shifted on my back.
"Got it!" He said as he shifted again and he started reading about the water witch Kaelin and how he became a guardian of the tome.
"We are here!" Mother said to make Xavier stop after we had finished Water's wish and moved to Summoning Salvation.
"We will continue later." I said as he groaned and I chuckled at him.
"Okay but I really want to find out what was going on with Gwendolyn." He tells me.
"I know you do and we'll get there." I tell him with a smile as he gets off of my back. " Besides we have how long of a ride in this car we can continue once we get settled and get going." I grinned at him.
"Woot." he called out happily.
I rolled my eyes smiling and ruffled his hair. "All right, so how are we breaking into groups?" Logan asked Mother.
"I figured we'd go ahead and break you guys down into clans." Mother tells him.
"I have a see you list of who is with who and which clan goes with which driver." One of the other guards said.
So after we got everyone into the vehicles and headed out Xavier and I kept on reading a book. " Oh death, what is that smell?" I asked about two hours later as something rancid hit us.
"Feels like somebody hit a skunk." mother said.
"Yeah yeah that definitely smells like skunk." Xavier agreed with her.
"But whatever it is, it is disgusting." Father agrees with me.
"Agreed." Mother said. " I mean if it smells bad to me I'm sure it smells terrible day you guys."
" So where are we going?" Logan asked.
"We have a hotel set up for tonight and then tomorrow we will take a flight from the closest city to the capital. It is a 5 hour plane ride." she tells us.
"So how much further until we get to this city?" Logan asked.
She looked at her phone. " About another 30 minutes."
"So we have enough time to finish this chapter and possibly start the next one." I said to Xavier.
I laughed as Xavier curled up into my side as he read to me.I took over when his throat started hurting. We had gotten to the end of Death's Bride with the song and I sang it.
""Hush dear Rose you will be fine, You will find peace this night." I started as I ran my fingers along to tombs. "Do you see the shadows dancing along with the wind? Hush now Rose you will be safe within these arms of mine. Those who slink around in the shadows are your friends and mine. Hush now Rose you will find that you're free to fly on the winds at night with the shadows. The wings of the shadows will lead you home to rest your head. Rest your head dear Rose may you sleep in peace where you could not in the light. Hush dear Rose the shadows are flying in the sky this night with your new shadow wings you can fly. Follow the wind Dear Rose let it lead you home to me. Let your wings fly you safely home to me and rest your weary head."" I finished singing when the driver slammed on the breaks and I grabbed Xavier to keep him from moving.
"What the hell was that?" Mother asked.
"Sorry Lady Dragon." He said as we saw someone standing in the middle of the road.
"Let me handle this." Mother said as she went to open the door and I grabbed her arm.
"What?" She asked.
"Is it me or does he have something on his chest?" I asked them.
"No, you're right there is." Father said and a knock made us all look out the window and looked at Tacal.
"I got this." He said as the window opened.
"He has something strapped to his chest." I told him.
"Thanks." He said as he moved forward. "Hey man, what are you doing?" He asked him.
"The dead ones will not pass." I hear.
"It seems some people still do not want us out." I said softly.
"Come on man, get out of here." Tacal growled at him.
"No they must not come out." I rolled my eyes.
"I wonder how many like him there will be?" I asked them.
"Not many, hopefully." Mother huffed. "Or there will not be for witches."
I hummed softly as I watched them. "Alright that is enough. Tacal said as I have to fight not to cover my ears when sirinc came flying at us and cars surrounded him.
"Damn are those loud." I hissed.
"Yea they are even for me." Mother said. "But the cops will take him away." Mother tells us.
"The volume of everything is going to be a pain." Logan said, rubbing his ears.
"I would agree with that." Father said with a hiss.
"Well, that was not fun." I said as we started to go again.
Logan shifted and pulled me closer to him and I let him as I pulled Xavier with me. "Are you okay?" He asked me.
I looked back at him and hummed. "Of course I am." Which was a lie.
He yanked on my hair. "Do not lie to me even if it is to make me feel better and not worry."
"Okay okay so I am worried." I said as he let go of my hair.
"Why?" Father asked me.
"How many more are there going to be like that? How many people will turn to hate witches when they see a vampire witch? How much can they sway their leaders to start a war? You see where I am going here?" I asked them.
"You are borrowing trouble my dear." Logan said.
"I know but I can't help but think this way. Until Father found me, the worst case scenario was my life." I remind them. "And even after that I still looked for the worst outcomes and then prayed to death that it wouldn't happen."
"I thought we broke you of that." Father said.
"No, I just learned to hide it better." I told him.
The facepalm they did was impolite but I guess needed. "I understand that you have needed to always prepare for the worst but you no longer need to do so my dearest girl." Father said softly.
"I know that you keep saying that." I tell him as I leaned my head back against Logan. "But can I tell you even after 250 years I still sometimes this this is a dream and I am going to wake up and end up back in the darkness." I sighed.
"You will never go back to the darkness." Father said as he moved to sit in Xavier's spot.
"Well now we know what the darkness was Father." I told him.
"Yes and you will never go back." His black eyes glowed as he looked at me. "I would died before I let someone take you from us and I am not the only one. You think Logan would let it happen? Or Loren?"
"No." I said softly.
"That is right no they would not and do you know something." He asked me.
"What?" I asked.
"They would have to kill the entire clan to get you out." Logan said. "You're there Lady, if anyone tried to take you from us they would have hell to pay." He reminds me.
