The fact of the matter was that no one but the air users was quite happy about this flying thing. But after explaining it was a 7-hour flight or a 3-day car ride the complaints were kept to a minimum.
"I still do not like this." Magda hissed as we sat down.
"Relax, I used to fly all the time when I was human," Loren tells her. "Your ears will likely pop but that is normal with the presser difference."
"Like going up Mount Folda," Owen said. "Once you reach a certain point your ears pop."
"Exactly," Loren said.
"Why did you fly so much?" Magda asked Loren.
Loren sighed as she leaned back in her seat; she never was one to talk about her past. "Even though for the most part there is peace there is still the need for the military in case someone does attack. I was the pilot of a fighter jet." She tells us. "That is how I ended up in the End. I was on a training mission when things went wacky in the cockpit. I should have never been near the vampire airway but I got turned around when the systems started crashing. I headed for water so if I went down I wouldn't hurt anyone. I vaguely remember pulling the eject button. I have no idea what happened after that and when I woke up to Mom having turned me other than there was a lot of pain. I did the math so many times that the jet should have smacked the wall but luckily it didn't if I am right it's just on the other side of the wall or in the ocean."
"You know that they will likely ask you about it." Mother said.
"I am sure if we meet up with General Galea I am going to get an ear full." She said with a sigh.
"Why?" I asked her.
"Well, he was my stepfather." She sighed and leaned against Magda.
"Does that mean that I am going to need to ask him about courting you too?" She asked her.
"No." Came the simple answer then she hums. "Engines are starting." As the engines roared to life.
"Perhaps I should give them a heads up because yes, General Galea is one of the commanding officers meeting us at the airport." Mother said. "Is it alright if I take your picture to add to it?"
"I think that would be a good idea," I said.
"I am going to get an ear full. Yes, you may." She groaned as we all blinked when a flash came from mothers phone and we hissed at her.
"Right turn off the flash." Mother said before she turned the phone to me and took a second picture.
"So what is it for?" I asked.
"For me." She said you can ask your brother. I have over a thousand pictures of him." Mother said as he leaned forward and nodded.
"Yup, it's like she could never get enough." He said.
"After you went missing and your father died I went and hunted for pictures of you guys. It never felt like I had enough so when Xavier was born I got a little photo addicted." Mother said, making Logan chuckle.
"I could not get Matthew to sit still for a portrait," Logan said.
"That is why I love cameras." Mother said.
"I would like to get one." He said softly.
"I am sure we can get you one," I said as I leaned against him.
A voice rang out on the intercom. "If everyone would please buckle up for taking off."
"Let's get this over with." Uncle Varance groaned.
"Trust me after we get to the right height we will be able to unbuckle." Mother said.
"I do not like this." Queen Notis hisses.
"Suck it up none of us like this." Uncle Varance said as Loren laughed.
"You all maybe but I miss flying." She smiled as she watched out the window.
"That is you," Logan said with a sigh.
"I will say this is different from flying on your own." Queen Bessie said.
Once we were able to unbuckle most everyone relaxed. I just sat there drawing as everyone else talked with each other or watched out the windows.
"If you could all buckle up we will be descending soon." The announcer said, breaking me out of my trance.
"Welcome back." I blinked.
"I am sorry," I said softly as Logan took my drawing pad and looked at my current drawing.
"That is gorgeous," Logan said softly.
"I didn't mean to zone out like that," I said.
"What else was there to do?" Mother asked me. "Xavier fell asleep 20 minutes after you zoned out. Speaking of." She shook him. "Xavier." She said softly.
"Huh?" He asked, sounding half asleep.
"Buckle up, we are landing." She said.
"Okay." He said and buckled up and sat up straight.
"Did you sleep well?" I asked him.
"As well as one can with no pillow and bed." He muttered making me laugh at him.
"Did Mother not make a good pillow?" I asked him.
"Not really." He said yawning.
Kieth chuckled as I looked at him. He was looking better than he did 7 hours ago. "Oh, this is probably the worse part." Queen Noctis said with a huff as we started to descend.
"Don't take her to an amusement park," Xavier said.
"Excuse you, little boy?" She hissed at him.
"Amusement parks have rides that are called roller coasters that plummet you down at rapid speeds. If you do not like this then it is doubtful you would like them." Loren said. "Also do not threaten a member of the Araracia clan please we do not need a fight on the plane."
"Please Pamila do not be rude to a child." Uncle hissed at her.
"Okay let's remember our own laws, my queen." One of the males who came with her reminded her she made a face but fell silent. I sighed and smiled at them.
"Alright, this is probably the worst part," Madga said as the plane slightly bounced as we touched down.
"You could have never been a pilot." Loren laughed.
"No, I don't think so." She agreed.
"I love that about you." She said with a smile.
"I know you do." She sighed as she rubbed the back of her hand against her cheek.
"Don't know what is about to happen," Loren said as we get off the plane.
"Captian Loren Annie Galea!" Someone yells.
"Oh boy." She said as she turned and I grabbed Logan's arm as the Werewolf matched to us. "Hey General." She said softly.
"Hey General… the first thing you say to me in 200 years of being missing is Hey General?" He demanded and I let Logan go to handle it.
Excuse me." Logan snarled as he stepped between Loren and the General. "For your informant when found her she was almost dead. We had to turn her or she would be dead. We have not left the vampire lands since the creation of our race. On top of that, we don't let anyone under the age of 90 go anywhere near the gate to the outside world. You need to back off my Knight General." Logan sneered at him.
I stepped up beside Loren and glared at him. "I understand you are her stepfather but you will not disrespect my knight. You're angry because you thought you lost her years ago. And now she is back. However, that does not mean that you have the right to speak poorly to her." I hissed.
"King Logan Diana," Loren said as she spoke up. "He's pissed but not so pissed he's going to hurt me." She ducked around me and hugged him. "I see you are as grumpy as ever, papa."
"Bratling." He said, hugging her back. I smiled softly.
"Now before anyone else jumps down their throats," Loren said. "Papa, this is King Logan of the northern vampire clan and this is Lady Diana Arcaira, my heart and arms sister. My King, Sis this is my Papa General Hector Galea. Also, my name is Loren Galea-Allen. I was abducted into the family of the Vampire that turned me."
"Who do I need to thank for saving you?" He asked and Loren lost her smile and I patted her shoulder.
"Momma Pam died a few years back but I can not wait for you to meet Grandma Renee." She said softly. "I know Mom has passed, please tell me she went peacefully."
He sighed. "She did. One day she just didn't walk up." He said with a sad smile.
"Better she passes in peace than have a violent death like Momma," Loren said as she pulled me into a one-arm hug.
"I apologize for jumping to conclusions," Logan said.
"I would have done the same thing." He said. "Thank you for taking in my daughter." He said softly.
"I have a policy to not let anyone on my land die if we can help it," Logan said.
"And I appreciate that." He sighed.
"Do I have any siblings?" She asked him.
"You have a brother who is going to flip his lid." He huffed.
