The next day was a nice pleasant day. I had a nice little romantic evening planned because the kids went to their friend's house. So we had a movie night and just relaxed that day.
I had to leave for Egypt in ten hours, give or take. I had very little time to spend with the family. Those ten hours does not even include packing and a little last-minute shopping. So we spent the remaining time left the best way I saw fit, the mall.
We started with breakfast and went to the arcade. When I tell you family arcade time is crazy competitive, that is an understatement. It is so damn crazy!
We, normally, decently calm people became animals, and then my favorite part, movie time. We went to the theater and saw two movies back to back. With the amount of popcorn and coke we ate and drank, I didn't think we were going to eat dinner. Boy was I wrong, we are really animals I guess.
We reached home with an hour left to go, the kids had tears in their eyes, which in turn made Averie cry.
I'm going to let you in on a little secret. How to be good at goodbyes? It is simple, never say it. Never say goodbye. We always say 'until next time'. It is something Averie and I have been doing since college. It is just easier this way. The thought of saying goodbye is just something I cannot or rather don't want to fathom. Saying goodbye basically means I don't think I am going to see you again, but when you say see you again, it fills you up with hope. It is way better than the thought of never seeing that person ever again.
"So I guess 'until next time' are in orders," said Averie.
"Yup, see you later kids" I replied. They run up to me and hugged me. Then, finally the waterworks of Ms. Averie Logia.
"Come home as soon as you can, okay?" said Averie.
"I'll be back before you even notice I'm gone okay? I love you" I calmed her a little bit I guess.
"I don't think that is possible but if you say so." She replied.
We all giggled with tears in our eyes.
While I was halfway out the door Averie hugged me from behind. "I forgot to say I love you too."
I smiled and almost broke down in tears, it made me wonder how my dad did this without tearing up.
I flicked her forehead "See you in a while." I said and left for the cab.
It is safe to say that the cab driver was beyond annoyed. We had a long 'until next time' session. I reached the airport, got some coffee, got through security, without a hitch so that's good, and waited for my flight. Then finally heard the name of the flight that I was supposed to board. I got my seat, put on some music, and left for Egypt.
