Just before the setting sun passed over the horizon they arrived at the gate of the Capitol City of Sermere. The city itself was built of a glossy white stone, sparkling in the last light of the day. The city itself was called Beddroi, after a great dragon of legend slain by the first King of Sermere, and was said to be impregnable.
Ares marveled at the great city built by mortals of ages past. A place among mortals truly befit of the gods, he thought to himself in wonder. Never before had he seen a place, outside of the Realm of the Gods, that held such beauty. He would see this place painted by the blood of those opposed him one day. And what a glorious day that will be, he mused.
"Nobody is aware of your presence here my Lord," whispered Yavia conspiratorially. "If only it was to last, I would forever keep you by my side day by day, evening by evening," she whispered with a heavy sigh.
The notion gave Ares an idea, he could use this young woman's affections for him to further his plans.
"Maybe you can my sweet Yavia," he whispered back lovingly. "Your father would never tell a soul I'm here if you asked him not to," he said with a wink.
Yavia giggled with excitement and beamed brightly at him.
"Then I shall ask it of him," she whispered, barely able to conceal her excitement at the prospect of keeping Ares close at hand. "Surely you're right my Lord, my father would never tell his beloved princess no," Yavia winked back.
Ares sighed with contentment and kissed her forehead softly, slowly kissing her temple and down her cheek to her lips, holding her close.
"I look forward to staying by your side my sweet Princess," his hot breath brushed her lips as he spoke.
Yavia's mind was spinning, she had never been attracted to anyone except this young man. Her body screamed for him, every touch sent her nerves on fire. She would do anything for this man, even betray those closest to her, to keep him by her side. Nothing was more important to her in the world than seeing this man happy by her side.
The carriage made it's way slowly through the city's main street that led to the Royal Castle. Crowds of citizens lined the street roaring cheers of praise for the King, Queen, and Princess. The sound was almost deafening, but seemed to fill the Princess with excitement. The people loved their Rulers, and didn't hesitate to show it. Ares wondered how they would cheer when he became the King of this realm called Sermere, when the streets flow with blood and the land ruled by the might of a Mortal God King. That title made him smile, and one day soon, he would achieve it.
Yavia looked at Ares thoughtfully and placed her hand his, his fingers instinctively finding a place in between her own. She leaned in and kissed him softly on the cheek before resting her head on his shoulder.
"I think I may be falling for you my handsome Lord Nobaru," she said with a soft sigh.
"And I you," he said so softly she could not make it out.
