Uriel was furious when he had heard the news from the guards. He placed the room back and forth furiously, arms crossed, and knuckles white with the tension of his closed fists.
"How dare she?!, he fumed. "To not only defy her King and father, but the entire Kingdome of Sermere!! This is an outrage!! I will not be challenged by a child of sixteen years!! I am the King!!! Uriel roared to the skies.
The more he thought about the situation the more enraged he became. He needed to punish someone for this outrage, and swiftly. He dare not lay so much as a finger on Yavia in anger, for fear of his wife's rage. She would have his head. And to be honest, he thought to himself, this ain't her fault. It's that blasted cursed seventh son's fault. She has been infatuated with him for far too long. At first he thought it had been just a phase, that she would come to her senses before her sixteenth name day. But now he saw he'd have to take different measures to show her the truth.
"Captain, summon my daughter and that blasted guard of hers at once!" demanded Uriel.
"At once sir!" the Captain replied with a bow, not concealing the pleasure he felt in carrying out this task, and took his leave.
"I'll have that blasted boy's head for this! He will be tried with treason before this night is over! And there is not a thing my treacherous daughter can do about it!" he growled as he sat on his throne. "The Kingdom must go on, and must not appear weak! She will do what she must, or will be tried with treason along with the seventh son. And I dare my dear wife to say something about it. I will have everyone's head, if I must, before this over."
He needed to show his daughter and his Kingdom what it meant to stand in the way of royal traditions and duties. Nobody would miss a seventh son they new nothing of, especially one without a family. His people wouldn't even question where the culprit had come from, nor what act of treason he committed. And when all was said and done he would marry his daughter to whomever he chose. Now he just had to wait for the Captain to return here with his daughter and that boy and they would both be thrown in the dungeons. King Uriel smiled to himself, content with the decision he had made. His daughters future would be set in stone within the week.
Unbeknownst by the King, Queen Vera, standing in the shadows of the throne room, had heard everything. She seethed with a cool and collected anger. Hurt her daughter? I think not. If he so much as touched either of those children, someone would be losing their head tonight. And to be sure, it wouldn't be those children. She descended further into the shadows of the throne room and waited patiently. Her dear husband was right about one thing, this night would be most eventful indeed.
