Chereads / The Core of Armania / Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 11

Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 11

It's today. The day that I have been thinking about almost the whole day. I don't know what would happen if we fail this one. The plan to secure the coronation failed inside Armania and I don't know what to do if we fail this one too,

Alexander would be heading to the venue right now and I just can't stay put in the bar. I keep overthinking and I haven't heard anything from him since we last saw each other. I make orders while praying for the plan to end up being successful.

After a few minutes, the manager called it a day for us whose shifts are during the day. I changed my clothes and went home alone. I thought I should just rest at home and wait for the result of Alexander's work. I hope he's doing fine. I can't even do anything but get nervous.

I was walking alone thinking of what the hell is happening when I felt like someone is watching me. I looked back immediately. I felt this feeling before and that is when Alexander and the others took me to Armania. I looked back and saw nothing so I proceeded forward to get home right away. After a few moments, I heard someone following me. I can hear footsteps from behind. I couldn't look back so I started walking faster than usual. Then I also heard the footsteps of the stranger going faster.

I took the courage to look back to see if someone is really following me. I saw 2 guys behind me. They are not close but not too far away. My eyes widened and fear went all over my body. I immediately started sprinting. They knew what I was doing so they immediately started chasing me.

I don't know who they are. They are not wearing cloaks. It looks like they're not from Armania or related to Alexander. I ran as fast as I could. Moments passed and I was already in that dark alley. I slowed down a bit and started chasing my breath. I couldn't help but think someone might show up and grab me from that dark alley.

I looked back to see if they were still following me. I saw the two running towards me. "HELP!! HELP!" I started shouting as I ran as fast as I could to leave that dangerous alley and to lose those two who are chasing me.

"HELP!! HELP!! HELP!! SOMEONE'S CHASING ME!!" I shouted to see if somebody could hear and help me out. I couldn't fight those two men chasing me. If someone grabs me from this alley, I don't know what will happen.

I don't even know why this place became really dark. It's not the same as before.

I ran as fast as I could. I can hear them shouting at each other while running towards me. I saw the end of that alley and I felt very relieved. but then, I saw someone catching his breath from the end of the alley. He's one of those 2 men following me. He looked at me with dark intent. I looked back and saw the other one. I'm trapped.

"HELP! HELP! OH MY GOD! HELP! GET AWAY FROM ME!" I shouted when the two started coming closer to me. They immediately covered my mouth and held my hand to stop me from running away.

HELP. HELP ME!

---------------------------

Alexander arrived at the party wearing expensive clothes that Sky and her friends have prepared for him. He doesn't know where those clothes came from and he doesn't have to. He came to retrieve the key and he doesn't have to care for anything else.

Like Sky said, the place was filled with people. All of them were wearing expensive clothes and accessories. They went to the party just to brag about everything they own. They talk as groups and don't even care about the others walking around. He noticed that nobody is even looking at him. He was free to walk around without being noticed. Unlike what Sky said, he didn't go inside through the entrance. He used his teleportation to get in and it went successfully as he expected. All that's left to do now is to wait for the key to show up and all he has to do is to steal it and leave earth.

He went to a higher place to see everything that is going on. He went up to the indoor balcony without anyone noticing him. As he go up the stairs, a waiter approached him and offered him white wine. He just looked at the waiter which made him nervous. "W-wine, sir?" the waiter offered politely. He looked at the wine and looked at the nervous waiter again. He took a glass and ignored the waiter.

He went straight to the upper balcony to find the perfect spot. He's not used to avoiding bumping onto someone because he's used to everyone clearing away from his way. He got annoyed when he walked past a bunch of young women and they started noticing him from the crowd. They tried to stop him and talk to him but the moment Alexander looks at them with annoyance, they all cleared the way for him.

'I don't have time for this kind of people' he thought.

Unlike what Sky said, He never talked to someone. He waited for the core to show up by himself though he knew someone is starting to take notice of him. He sipped on his wine while standing in the perfect spot to spot the core.

A few moments later, the MC went on the stage and started talking. He remembered what Sky said about the MC saying Wong's name and then the owner of the core would show up from the huge crowd.

He started to become attentive because he knew that it was coming.

"HELP"

While waiting for the owner to come, he started to hear something. He looked around but it doesn't seem to come from the crowd.

"HELP!"

that voice. He knew that it was Sky's voice. He was about to walk out and go to her when he heard the MC mention Liam Wong's name. He looked back again to the stage and saw the old man coming up.

Damn it.

"HELP!!"

He started to get bothered because why he can hear her voice without even trying to communicate with her. He never tried to read her mind just now and just started to hear her voice calling for help.

"Damn." he cursed and immediately went to a safer place and teleported as fast as he could to get to where Sky could be right now.

He went to the bar totally forgetting about the key. He started to get worried about Sky calling for help.

He couldn't see Sky on her post so he decided to come home. He opened the doors and he couldn't even see anyone.

"Damn. She's not here."

He decided not to use his teleportation and ran from her apartment and back to the bar where she could come from. He was hoping to see her along the way.

"HEEELLP!!!"

He started hearing her voice again. He licked his lips as look around hoping to see her but she was not there.

He immediately ran looking for her. It took him minutes before seeing Sky in the hands of two young men. They are in a dark alley that they usually walk through on their way home from work.

He didn't think twice and immediately landed his fist on the guy holding Sky. The person fell down. He pulled Sky out of the other man's hands and kicked him in the chest.

"Alexander!" he heard Sky crying his name.

The guys went on their toes. "Hey man. That's my girl out there--" one of them even started talking. A fistfight started but Alexander never took even one blow from those two until they got beaten up.

"What are you doing here?" she asked him but he didn't answer. He went to her and in just a blink of an eye, they were already inside the apartment.

Sky's POV

"What are you doing here? What about the key?"He looked at me while catching his breath. he didn't answer and looked at me from head to toe. "What are you doing here?" I asked.

I didn't expect him to be there and save me. I didn't summon him or what. I didn't know how he knew what was going on with me. Has he been reading my mind all this time?

"Alexander?" I tried to catch his attention. He looked up at me, I thought he was going to answer but he then disappeared. I was left shocked for a second and fell to the floor. My trembling hasn't disappeared yet. I tried to catch my breath. I am glad that he saved me from there but he left his post to do it. What if he wouldn't get a chance to take the core back in those 5 minutes of not being there?

I stayed indoors waiting for him to come back. I walked back and forth to the hallway outside our apartment door. After a few minutes, I went outside the apartment to meet him there. It's almost late, he should be home right now. It would only take minutes to take the core back.

Holding my other hand real tight, I waited for him at the entrance of the apartment building. And finally, I saw him walking. It's so not like him to walk all by himself. I thought of going back up thinking that he might just use his teleportation to go back home. Glad he's here.

I waved at him to catch his attention. I noticed his tie not being like how he left. He's holding his coat too and he's holding nothing other than the black coat that I made him wear.

He didn't get to take the key.

The road is dark and the entrance too. I am standing a few meters away from a light post as I wait for him to notice me.

"H-how about it?" I couldn't help but ask him. He looked at me. His eyes told me what happened.

We missed the chance.

He stopped in front of me and didn't even talk. I don't know who to blame other than myself. He left the hall because of me. I almost choked because of the guilt that I am feeling.

We missed our very rare chance to take it back. I can't blame him for coming. If only I had been more careful. If I hadn't left the bar and stayed there then I wouldn't meet those guys--

"It's cold outside. Let's get in." he suddenly said making my thoughts about blaming myself stop. He raised his eyes at me. I can see that he's not happy about it. It just makes me want to fly away and never come back again. He walked before me holding his coat and untying his tie.

I couldn't even walk with him. He's been suffering since the day he left Armania. I know that he feels worried and responsible about his friends. The plan didn't work well at that time. We don't even know where his friends are right now. Them not being able to come here means they are captured somewhere or the portal is being protected by someone else. Both just mean they're not doing well.

And we might never get to get another chance after this. How are we going to be able to find his friends? What could be happening in Armania right now? How many of them could have been dead? Will we ever get to save them? How? When?

Are his friends still alive?

I felt my chest tighten because of the thought.

I saw him stop. I looked at him immediately. He faced me once again and walked closer. I looked away, my eyes dropped to the floor. I am starting to get scared when suddenly, I felt the side of his hand hit my head lightly. It stayed on my head until he started talking.

"Stop blaming yourself. It's not your fault," he said. Tears escaped from my eyes.

Then whose fault was it? It's not his either.

"We can't just stop and regret everything. It's not your fault. It's just that--" he stopped talking and let out a big sigh. "Let's get inside. It's getting even colder," he said and grabbed my wrist.

I wiped my tears as we walk towards the building.

I know. My heart just can't keep silent about it. I couldn't help but feel sorry about it. I looked at his hand holding my wrist. I noticed the wounds on his knuckles that seemed to hit on a hard surface. It's not because of the fistfight.

I could be the one crying right now but I know he feels even more regretful about it.
