Chereads / The Core of Armania / Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 13

Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 13

I felt the warm feeling of the sun hitting my skin, I moved my leg wanting to keep it from the sun and continue sleeping but seems like it just won't let me sleep. I opened my eyes and the bright color of the morning filled my eyes. I got up from the bed and brushed my eyes with my palm. I looked around like I always do every time I get up from the bed. No one's around as always. I was about to step out of the bed when I saw a note on my bed lamp.

I had to stop and take it. I read the note written on a sticky paper that I keep on my study table.

'Don't find me.'

I woke up gasping for air. I dreamed of that same scene that happened two years ago again. The same exact scene. I sighed when I realized it was just a dream.

I looked around the room. It's not the same room where I woke up in that dream but still gives memories that were connected with it.

I stepped out of the bed and started doing the same thing that I have been doing daily as a business administration student.

Alexander never came back after that night. The note told me nothing about his disappearance. These past two years, I have always wanted to think of it as a dream but the necklace hanging on my neck just won't let me treat it that way. I've been wanting to dispose of it for a long time ago but my other self just won't let me get rid of it.

That one month with Armanians and the key, just won't let me live as peacefully as I have before. Until now, I am still wondering why he left me just like that after getting me involved with the situation of their world. Calling me one of them and making me think as if it's also my problem and I have to help take the core back.

I've been wanting to know how are they doing right now, the key is still in Wong's hands, I was sure about that. That is what I have been doing since he left me, keeping myself updated if someone has taken the core or if was it still in Wong's hands.

And also Alexander, I wonder how he's doing right now. Did he find a way to get back to Armania? Or was he still wandering on the earth right now? I hope he's fine all by himself. Because he left me a very big burden. That one month changed my life. It's been two years and I still can't forget it.

"Should I get rid of the necklace right now?" I asked myself as I put on a coat that I am planning to wear to the university today.

The answer is, I don't know. Apart from me wanting to get rid of the only evidence about the existence of the Armanians but a part of me doesn't want to forget anything about it.

Cira, Blaze, Cole, Amaya, Alexander, and the people of Armania should just be kept for me for the rest of my life. There's no way that I'd be able to forget them even If I get rid of the necklace that Alexander bought me.

I once tried to throw it away but ended up digging into the dumpster and looking for it after 30 minutes. Speaking of the necklace, I searched up the internet for the price and ended up wanting to sell it. It'd give me allowance for the rest of my life. I don't even know how he got it.

I walked down the streets wearing my university outfit for the day and my bag which I have been using for like- 4 years now. Glad it doesn't look that old. We didn't move from the apartment. Neither did we resign from the bar/cafe. My life is pretty much the same as before except for getting the opportunity to go to college and study Business administration.

I'm currently in my second year and I still have 2 more years to go. It's the same with my friends. They are now studying the courses that we have spent most of our time trying to get money to get into it.

While walking, my phone suddenly rang. My friend from the university is calling. "Hello?" I asked as I put my phone on my ear.

"SKYYY!!" I took the phone away from my ear right away when suddenly, Leigh started shouting my name because of the excitement of something that I don't know about.

"What is it? You're so loud, damn it." I said.

"Where are you now?" she asked with the sound of excitement still lingering in her words.

"On my way to school. Why?" I asked.

"Come to the university as fast as you can. I'll tell you here," she said and hung up.

"What the--" I put the phone down annoyed. I walked as fast as I could to get to the university. When I got into my class 20 minutes earlier. I immediately looked for Leigh and saw her running towards me from the other side of the hall.

"SKYYYY!!" She was shouting my name while running towards me with her hand wide open. I moved when he attempted to come to me and hug me.

"What is it?!" I asked, annoyed.

"You're not going to believe what I just found out from Ms. Jinny just right now," she said pertaining to our pretty university teacher who has been single most of her life and is asking us if we could find him a boyfriend because she can't find one for herself.

"What is it?" I asked for the third time.

"Come," she said and pulled my hand. She then started running pulling me with her. People in the hall started clearing away from our path when they heard her footsteps and her loud voice shouting at everyone who was on our way.

"Leigh, we're not supposed to run here," I told her as I try to take my hand off hers. I am struggling with my short skirt going up as I run with her.

She never let go of my hand and went faster instead. I let her that way and hoped that we couldn't come across a teacher. College students are not supposed to run around. But Leigh is just--

"We're here," she said and went into Ms. Jinny's office without even knocking.

"Oh, Leigh and Sky. Glad you're both here now," she said while stapling some documents on her desk.

"Good morning--" I was about to greet her when Leigh interrupted me.

"Tell her about it," she told Ms. Jinny who just smiled at her not being bugged by her manner of speaking to her.

"I have good news for the both of you," she speaks slowly. " You knew about the early internship right?" she asked talking about an early internship. Internships suppose to take place in the third and fourth year but we are told a big company is willing to take a few students to come to their place for an internship. I also heard the company is pretty big and is known for its successful sales.

"Yes, ma'am," I answered politely. Feels like I now know what she's about to say.

"I am happy to announce that both of you are chosen for that internship," she said happily.

I knew it.

"B-but why us?" I asked her. There are a lot of better students around. I don't understand why it has to be me and Leigh. Leigh stopped jumping when she heard my question.

"Well, I don't know too. The current vice president of the company asked for the student's information and said it was you two whom they want to take in," she said.

"Come on Sky. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Let's just be happy about it." Leigh said.

"Y-yeah." I said awkwardly. It's just that I couldn't help but wonder why I was chosen. I'm not a very smart student I couldn't believe that they chose me for it.

"Congrats, both of you." Ms. Jinny said.

"Thank you, Ms."

"Thank you, Ms."

Leigh and I thanked her together.

I can't believe that it's true. Why would a big company take me in for a free internship for 2 weeks? It's just-- impossible.

Suddenly, I remembered something.

"Uhm, ma'am. I'd like to withdraw."

They both stopped when they heard what I said.

"But--" Leigh said but I interrupted her.

"I hope this wouldn't affect my grades but I can't accept the internship."

"But Ms. Levi. Why?" she asked.

"I am a working student," I said. "I'd have to leave my work for 2 weeks if I'd accept the internship. I am very sorry, ma'am."

"But why? It's very rare you know," she said.

"I am very sorry, Ms."

I don't want to leave the opportunity too but I'd like to get more money.

"Sky.." Leigh said softly. I know she's feeling very disappointed too.

"It's such a shame. Wong's administration is pretty big too. I'll tell them you'd like to withdraw."

The company name made me frozen. I was surprised when I heard that name. It's been years. I had never thought I'd get to be one of the students that they chose to be able to be an intern in their company.

"Uhm.. Ms." I said. "I take it back."

3rd person's POV

FLASHBACK

Alexander was lost and walking alone. A few minutes earlier, when he was with Sky, he saw something and immediately tried to see who it is.

After telling Sky that he wants to go off somewhere, He went to a dark place and used his teleportation to sneak to the area where he saw the person.

But the person was no longer there. He looked around and he was quite surprised that the person managed to leave in that short period of time.

He is trying to be very careful after what happened when he came back to that party. And seeing someone stalling them made him worried. He went but the person is no longer there.

He walked around and looked for the same black hoodie jacket and a black cap. He didn't manage to see the face so he decided to look for clothes. After walking around for minutes, he decided to give up and thought the person got away.

He then realized that he got lost. He tried to go out of the huge crowd. He realized he was no longer on the route where he is used to using to go back to Sky's apartment. After getting out of the crowd, he looked for somewhere dark.

He can't just use his teleportation near a crowded area. Sky has always been worried about other people knowing about him.

He saw a dark alley and started walking there when suddenly, something caught his eye.

He was about to walk past that thing but he walked back to see it closely. A necklace. The diamond caught his eyes big time. He looked around and saw the entrance. He went in the luxurious store and went to the necklace.

"For your girlfriend, sir?" the saleslady with white gloves on her hands asked him. He immediately shook his head. "Do you want to take it out, sir?" the saleslady asked. He only nodded his head and the saleslady took the necklace out.

He stared at the necklace. His hands are in the pocket of his jacket while staring at it. "What, sir? " the saleslady asked again after realizing that he was doing nothing. "Are you going to take it?"

He took the money that the boss gave him today and looked at the saleslady. "Is that enough?" he asked.

The saleslady looked at him and took the money. She counted it and laughed. "Oh no, sir." she laughed and pointed to the prize of the necklace. "You probably need a thousand of this much." the saleslady said while holding the money he gave her. He only looked at the price and took his money back.

"I'm not going to take it, Then," he said and went out of the store. While walking, He looked at the money.

'It's no use for me.' he said as he walk out of the store. He looked around and saw a tree. 'Well, I can give her something, at least.'

He went to a very dark place and took a very huge branch from the tree, A leaf made the same amount of money that the boss gave him. He made almost a thousand. He realized someone would catch him if he'd take off another branch.

With the bag from a known fast-food chain that he only saw on the streets, he carried all the money and went inside the store once again. The saleslady who laughed at him was surprised when she saw what he brought.

"I'm taking it," he told her. With her eyes wide open, focused only on the money, he thanked God for making her exaggerate her words. The man did bring a lot of money.

She gave him the necklace and took all the money. Alexander couldn't care less for the bounty and left the store with the necklace. He threw the box with the known logo and put the necklace inside his pockets.
