Today, I have finally decided. I can no longer manage to do everything like how it is so I decided to go to Ms. Jinny to tell her about not going to the company building anymore. I thought about it very hard last night. The internship was optional so I don't think they will be able to stop me from taking my approval back. I don't actually need an internship. I need to work harder and focus on my studies. I have been out of school for weeks now and I am afraid that I might be left out because I chose the internship. Ms. Jinny said that they are going to give us enough points for us so that even if we don't go to class, we will be able to pass the course.
But I need the knowledge more to be able to work as fine as possible and get paid fine too. It doesn't matter if I don't get those plus grades, I need the knowledge in class and I am pretty confident that I can pass the course too.
I knocked on Ms. Jinny's office after texting her asking if she's available on Sunday because I wanted to talk to her about the internship. I didn't have to come to the company building today but I had to leave work for a few hours to talk to her about this.
'Are you sure about this, Sky?" she asked me
"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity you know," she said.
I don't even know why I had to say 'yes' to it when I heard that the company was related to the man that we wanted to get the core from. It turned out that his son was the one in charge of that line and it's not Liam Wong himself. But it doesn't matter anymore since Alexander left and I don't have anything to do with the core of any Armanian-related things anymore. It's not a good choice and I really have to take it back.
"I am having trouble with my schedule, Ms. I'm sorry but I had already decided to back out," I said. I already explained to her about my work and why I wanted to go to class again. It doesn't make much difference but now, I get to have more sleep and I get to be in my original schedule again which I am very used to. I will get to rest much more and sitting in a class is more enjoying and easier than staying in that company building.
It was never my intention to join the internship. And I don't really need it so if I can cancel it, I would like to.
"Alright, I'll see what I can do about it."
"Thank you, Miss."
After that small talk with Miss, I talked to her a little longer and went back to work. And the next morning, I went off to the company building since I still didn't get any text messages from Ms. Jinny.
"Hey,' Leigh called me when I got to the lobby.
"I heard you're backing out," she asked.
"Yes. I have to--"
"So you're really leaving me alone in here?" I was surprised that she was just worried about that.
"T-that would be the case.."
"But why? It's a great opportunity." she insisted.
"But I have priorities, so,"
"Aww.." she hugged me. I thought she was being so dramatic so I pushed her away. "So I guess I would also withdraw."
"Why the heck would you do that?!" I asked surprised by what she just said.
"I'll be left alone here, I don't want that."
"When I leave, they are going to get someone to be here. So you don't have to worry about being alone."
"But I want it to be you."
"Stop being so dramatic, Leigh."
Leigh kept bugging me about not withdrawing the whole time until lunch. We ate in the cafeteria and she was still talking about the internship I keep repeating that I had to do it for myself but she just won't listen.
"Skyy.." she called me again. I was left with nothing but to ignore her since she had gone mad talking about that stuff this whole time.
"Sky," she called me again but I ignored her.
"Sky?" I raised my head when I heard a different voice. I looked up and saw Minnie standing. She's wearing a lot of makeup and her hair is kinda curled this time. She looked like she was on her way to a date with her boyfriend.
"Oh, Minnie," I called her.
"Minnie," Leigh said. "Good afternoon." she greeted.
"Mr. Wong wants you in his office after lunch."
'What?" I asked surprisingly. Is this about the withdrawal too? What does he have to do about that? Is the heckin CEO really giving a thing about the withdrawal of an internship?
"W-what is it about?" I asked just to make sure that I am not wrong.
"He received a call from your adviser this afternoon, he said he wanted to talk to you.'
I glanced at Leigh. I know that she gets why Mr. Wong wanted to talk to me and Minnie didn't. I don't know why I am suddenly getting nervous.
"A-alright. I'll be right there after lunch." I said. Minnie nodded.
"Alright. I'll inform Mr, Wong about it." She said. "Bye, have a great lunch."
"Bye, you too. Thanks." Leigh said and bid her goodbyes to Minnie.
"OMG, why does it feel like you're going to the principal's office?" Leigh asked as if she can read my mind because it does feel that way. Lucas Wong is a bastard but he has the highest position in this building and I feel like I am starting to regret my life choices right now..
I also don't know why he have to talk to me about it. I was just an intern.
I don't even want to get into his office again. Why the heck is he giving a damn about interns?
I tried to finish my lunch as slow as possible. And Leigh overthinking made me become paranoid too about what he's going to say.
There's actually nothing to be scared about. I think he's just going to ask about the withdrawal and that's it. but this girl Leigh said that he must feel hurt that I am declining the internship that he offered himself or he's mad because he doesn't want the interns to withdraw or he must think that I am being cocky withdrawing from an internship is a huge company.
I don't know what to say but I went up after lunch with my palms closed. I really need to say goodbye to the internship.
Minnie greeted me first and she looks like she retouched her makeup. The eyeshadows weren't supposed to be purple earlier. "How's it?" she asked and moved her mirror to let me see her face.
"It looks fine."
'Not pretty? WAWW. I need to change it again." she said and opened her drawer for some more make-ups.
"What's with the fuss though?," I asked.
"Mr. Wong's friend is inside. I want him to notice me when he comes out."
"The friend is inside?" I asked. So he's going to be there when Lucas asks me about the internship. No.
I gulped really hard.. Please don't make it embarrassing.
Minnie pressed the intercom in front of her. "Mr. Wong? Ms. Levis is already here."
I gulped real hard again.
After a few seconds, the intercom beeped and 'Let her in." I heard Lucas' voice.
I think I need to go to the bathroom. "Please excuse me for a bit, I need to go to the bathroom downstairs," I said and stepped back.
"H-huh? But I already told Mr. Wong." Minnie asked cluelessly. I don't know why I suddenly feel like I have to go to the bathroom to do nothing and let time pass by rapidly. I don't want to talk to him. I want Ms. Jinny to make him confirm my withdrawal and that's all. Why the heck would he call me into his office? It seems like I have done something very wrong.
As I am walking back to the elevator, I hesitated and paused. There's indeed nothing to be scared about.
I have done nothing wrong. Whatever it is that he wants to ask me, I can just answer all of them. Why am I feeling like this? He even helped me with my shoes the other say.
He's nice and I don't think he's gonna yell at me for it.
I sighed heavily. Suddenly, I heard the door open.
I thought I was nervous earlier but I am more nervous now. My hands started shaking and my heartbeat went faster.
My eyes immediately widened when I saw him walking from the door.
_____________________________
"Get out. I need to talk to someone.' Lucas Wong told Alexander who was just sitting on the couch after being called by Lucas to come over to tell him something very important but it ended up being another casino bar that Lucas is inviting him to.
He dropped the magazine he was reading stood up and went for the door.
"What? You're not going to get mad?" Lucas asked. Alexander looked back at him as if he's the weirdest thing on earth. But instead of saying he's weird for making him go out and asking if he's going to get mad, he went back to his emotionless face after 0.3 seconds.
"No," he answered coldly.
"Damn, man you're hopeless," Lucas said.
"What do you mean?' he asked.
'Nothing.' Lucas smiled. 'By the way, the girl I am talking about who broke her heels is outside. Look at her, she's pretty."
Right when Lucas mentioned the girl, a sudden voice went into his head.
'Bathroom. I need to buy time.'
It's Sky's.
The voice that he hasn't heard for years. He looked back at the door realizing that she must just be near.
"Hey, said go out now," Lucas said. as if he's shooing him out.
Alexander knew this would happen. They will eventually see each other again after not being able to contact each other for real.
But he never thought it'd come this fast. He still doesn't know how to make up for the sudden disappearance that he needed to do.
He held on to the door know and opened the door. He immediately saw Sky standing at the end of the hallway facing the elevator.
"But I already told Mr. Wong." he heard the secretary say.
He didn't do anything else aside from walking towards her. He watched how she turned around and face him with surprise all over his face. He looked at her in the eyes. He can hear the thought in her mind wondering how he ended up being in front of her right now after being missing for years. She thought he went back to Armania.
He walked closer and closer. He couldn't stop because he knew the secretary was watching. He walked past Sky leaving her surprised by his sudden appearance in the most unexpected place.
SKY'S POV
W-what was that? did that just happen? I felt like I was woken up by the sound of the elevator. He's still behind me. The elevator hasn't gone up yet. I was frozen and left with nothing to do but stand there in surprise.
Did he just show up just like that?
"Sky?" Minnie asked her.
Now she's torn between continuing inside Lucas' office or calling Alexander and asking him what actually happened to him all these years.
Until now, she thought Alexander went back to Armania. She was wrong. He was just on earth and now he's showing up like a bubble.
She gulped. Minnie is eyeing them both. So you're telling me he's the friend Minnie was talking about? I heard he has come here the other day too. I didn't know it was him. All this time he was just so close.
And yet I only get to see him now.
