Chereads / The Core of Armania / Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 15

Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 15

It's been a week when I started coming as an intern to Wong's company. Every day, I think about what I was thinking the day I accepted the internship. I wake up in the morning and start my day by taking bath and going straight to the building and learning stuff about different kinds of positions in the business. I go out at 5 pm and come straight to the bar and serve customers until 2 am.

I only added another headache into my life just because I heard the company is somewhat connected to Lucas Wong whom we tried to take the core from. I don't know what I was thinking, for sure I still couldn't get the core. I sighed as I pile up copies of the files that the senior manager asked me. I placed the thick pile on the table and decided to fix my hair for a bit. I took my hair tie off my hair and tried to fix my hair a little before putting it on again. I bit my hair tie as I fix my hair.

Then suddenly, my phone in my pocket started vibrating. I let go of my hair and took the phone out to see what it is. It's a notification about a new anime episode that I have been waiting for. I smirked when I saw the notification and put my phone back into my pocket again.

"You know what, taking your phone out at work gets you into trouble"."I immediately turned my head back when I heard someone talk. I was surprised when I saw Lucas Wong leaning on the door behind me. His hands are in his pocket and his other leg is on the wall.

"I won't do it again," I said. Until now, I still don't know how to talk to him. This is the first time that I get to talk to him alone. I only see him whenever he enters the building and I am with the managers since he only stays inside his office the whole time he's in the building. I don't see him outside like this at all.

"You better do so." he said and that smirk appeared again. I took the pile of papers and didn't get the chance to fix my hair like I planned to. I wanted to go out right away. I don't want to be with him any longer. "Excuse me."I said and walked past him. I went straight to Chief Lyn who asked me to get copies of the files.

That guy keeps on giving me the creeps every time. I hate how he looks at me every time we see each other at the entrance or near the elevator. I don't know why I get angry every time I look at him. His smirk and his perverted look just annoy me on an amazing level.

I looked at my self-reflection in the mirror. I look so tired and I hate it. I hate how things went. I never should've had signed for this. I tied my hair and washed my face.

--------------

Alexander went to see the entrance again. With his hands in his pocket, he went near the tree. He's been wandering in the earth for quite a long time now but still couldn't find a way back to his home.

He's been living on earth for more than two years now. He watched how people living on earth become greedy over petty things and become crazy over love, hate, and vengeance.

He met new people when he left Sky after what happened at the party. He met some greedy people and people who have a lot of hate. He watched how people go crazy for love, money, and power too.

Living in this new environment taught him a lot about how these people live their lives and how different that kind of living is from Armania. In their world, You can always love someone and would never want for another. Money is one of the most non-worthy things that exists. But some are the same. Seeking vengeance and power or seeking power to get revenge. After having quite a long time thinking about it, the fact that both worlds have those two things, they are not far different from each other.

Within a split second, he has returned to his new home. Not the house that he lived in those 2 years, he had never thought of coming back here and seeing Sky again. He never intended to come back and be connected to her again. For some reason, he realized that he shouldn't have had her come with him in the first place. Getting her involved was a big mistake.

But because of the new way that he has thought to be able to come back to Armania, he had to do it. He had to come back and take risks of seeing her again.

----------------

It's 5 pm. It's now time to go out and go to the bar and start working again. I stopped by the lobby to check my feet who has been in pain after walking around so much. I sat on the sofa. I couldn't see anyone aside from front desk clerks nearby. I took off my shoes and saw how red my foot has been.

"Arggh.." I groaned. I couldn't even try to touch it. It's been days since I started wearing these shoes and looks likely feet have given up on them. And I can see a small crack on the heel and it looks like it'll give up anytime tomorrow. I bit my lip and groaned as I put it back on. The pain is resistible. Maybe I would just borrow heels from Leslie the next morning. I stood up again to go out of the building and get to work right away. I can take this off when I get to the bar. I need to hurry up.

I started walking despite the pain in my foot. I was about to walk past the exit when suddenly, I saw Lucas. I stopped. Judging from the way he looks right now, it seems like he's been waiting for me.

"G-good evening."I greeted him politely as possible.

"Good evening." he greeted me back with a smirk.

I took steps away to let him know that I need to go. I was walking down the stairs when suddenly,

*crack sound*

My mouth formed zero when I suddenly heard my shoe crack and break. I am quite lucky that I managed to stand up despite my heel breaking. The thought of Lucas Wong watching me from the back terrified me. I tried to walk as if nothing happened.

I can't take it off, it'd be very obvious. He might think it's probably because I bought broke ass shoes. I bit my lip as I walk down the stairs carefully. I couldn't even dare to look back at him now.

"Your heels are broken." I froze up when I heard him say that. Up to this moment, I thought he didn't notice. But I was wrong.

"Y-yeah."" I answered. I heard steps from behind and when I looked back, he's already beside me with his left arm up offering me help to get through the stairs. I gulped. I am hesitant to get his help. I've been thinking he's a total jerk this whole time. I expected him to laugh but he offered help instead.

IT'S MAKING ME FEEL BAD ABOUT THINKING ILL OF HIM AND GETTING MAD SEEING HIM THIS WHOLE TIME!

I don't even know if I am allowed to receive his help. He has the highest position in this building and he's here giving me a hand.

"Uh-- it's fine. I can just take the shoe off." thankfully, I came up with something to avoid reaching for his help.

I took the shoe off and picked it up. I saw him step sideways to cover me just in case someone was behind. I looked back and saw that there are people coming out from the exit. I immediately went back up with my shoes. Well, I just have to get a cab and get to the bar. Being barefoot is no big deal.

I looked at him and he's not annoying anymore. "T-thanks." I said. Speaking of annoying, I noticed that he's not wearing that smirk anymore. For once, I saw him smile politely.

"You can wait by the shed," he said.

"I know. Thank you. Have a good night, sir." I said and turned my back at him. I went straight to the shed and waited for a cab to pass by. The streets are quite busy right now and I'm afraid that someone might notice me being barefoot. I need to leave the place as soon as possible.

I looked back at where he was earlier and he already left. I looked back at the streets and saw a cab coming near. I raised my hand and took the cab right away. Luckily, I was not noticed by anyone. From what I think at least.

-----------------

Sky left 15 minutes ago. About 3 minutes after getting to the shed. Luas Wong came. Panting with a bag in his hand. He looked around and saw no sign of Sky near him.

"I told her to wait by the shed. Damn." he said. He sat on the shed and put the bag of the brand new shoes that he bought her on the floor next to his feet. He tried catching his breath. He looked for a shoe store and ran for almost 10 minutes to find a store near the building where the waiting shed is. He doesn't even know the size of her feet and is judged by looking at them.

He couldn't believe that she left after he told her to wait by the shed. He wasted his breath for nothing since she already left.

He was having a hard time earlier after getting scolded by his father on the phone when he saw Sky in the lobby. He didn't know what she's doing but he decided to wait for her at the entrance. Her beauty has captured him since the very first time that they met. She looks very pretty but not actually his type. He likes how she makes the annoyed looks whenever their eyes meet.

He saw it once more when she saw him at the entrance. He greeted her goodnight and when she left, he saw her shoes break and it almost sent him laughing. He forced himself not to make a sound as he watched her try to hide her broken heel. At first, It seemed to look funny but later on, he realized that he has to help her. The surprise on her face when he offered his arm almost made him smile.

"Wait by the shed," he said. But it looks like she didn't get it and left.

He smiled at the thought that he almost couldn't catch his breath after running for so long but yet she's nowhere to be found. "Well, maybe I can give this to her next time," he said and stood up. But then, his phone started ringing again. He thought it could be his father calling again. he was terrified for a second but then, he found out that it was his friend.

'Cold as Ice' he named his number.

"Yeah.:" he answered the call.

"Ihave arrived." his friend answered with his natural cold deep voice.

"Meet me right now. I want to share something," he said.

Later that night, after work, Sky wondered why he couldn't sleep at all.
