Chereads / The Core of Armania / Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 16

Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 16

After being scolded for being late, I went home that day tired, as usual. I then woke up and thanked God it's Sunday. I get to sleep until 12 pm and have a great meal. While my friends are at the bar, I have time to be at home alone and enjoy myself.

I watched anime the whole day and took a quick rest before changing to go to the bar. The bar is open every day and Sunday was supposed to be my rest day but since I adjusted the time of coming in, I decided to at least come every Sunday even if it has to be a night shift.

The day was very normal for me. Sundays must be a less stressful day for me. I get to change slowly. I didn't need to rush everything. I left my apartment at 5 pm. I locked the doors since I knew Leslie and Julie had their own keys. I was about to get out of the apartment building when the owner got in my way.

"G-good morning," I greeted Telma. The owner of the apartment building we are in.

"Good morning, Sky." she greeted back. As usual, she has that not-so-nice look on her face. Her tattooed eyebrows made her face look angry every time. She always wears those hair rollers every time we see each other in the hallway. "By the way, someone asked me about you earlier," she asked with her eyebrows raised. She flipped the fan she was holding and pushed her face closer to me that I had to step back. "Was that your boyfriend?"

A guy? Who could that be?

"I don't have a boyfriend. Can you tell me how he looks like?" I asked her. I don't know any guy that knows my address. I don't have any guy friends. I have no idea who could that be.

"He's a tall grown-up man." She answered. Judging from the way she looks like, she seems to doubt my words.

"I-I don't know him," I answered.

"He was driving an expensive car."

The expensive car sent rings to me. But it must be just me being delusional. There's no way someone driving an expensive car would come by my apartment building about me.

"He's quite handsome." she added.

No way.

The last person that I would expect coming would just be Leigh. She's the only person that knows where my apartment building is. But who could that be? I don't want to think that it could be Lucas Wong because it'd be embarrassing to think like that.

"He asked if you do live here." she answered, "How can you not tell your boyfriend where you live?" she asked me.

"I told you I don't have one." I said.

'Then who was it?" she asked still doubting my words.

"I don't know. I have to go. I'm late. Have a good day." I ended the conversation and walked as fast as I could to get away from her.

While I was on my way to the bar, I was thinking who could that be. There's no way it's Lucas. I just want to laugh at myself for including him on the choices. I am nothing but delusional.

I scoffed the thought out of my mind and went to the bar. I started working until 2am. I went home, took a quick bath and sleep. I woke up at 6 and started getting ready to get to the building at 9.

Then I remembered I broke my shoes yesterday. I remembered that moment with Lucas. I thought he isn't that bad. Maybe I should start being nice to him since today. Like calling him 'Sir' every time. He's the CEO after all.

I went into Leslie and Julie's room and texted Leslie about borrowing one of her shoes.

[ HEY! I broke my shoes last night lol. Mind if I borrow a pair of black heels? ] I texted her.

After 2 minutes, she texted back despite being at school. I knew she would do that.

[I don't. Care about checking if my Leche flan is still in the ref? Idk but I think Julie ate it.] she texted back.

I immediately went to take a look for her favorite dessert in the fridge but I couldn't find it at all.

[ Uh-oh. not in here lol ] I texted her. Minutes passed and she never replied. Be it because she was caught using her phone or she's just mad.

Despite Leslie not being able to answer, I continued getting ready and went off for work.

The building is already busy when I got there. But luckily, I am not late. I went into the employee's elevator which is right beside the executive's elevator. Unlike the employee's elevator, nobody can use the executive's elevator aside from the executives themselves.

That is where I see Lucas sometimes. He comes to work 2 hours late and sometimes, we go to the front desk to get some records so I sometimes see him coming in.

I went to the intern's lobby and saw Leigh. I put my bag into my locker and went to her to ask her about something.

"Hey," I called her. "I want to ask something," I said.

"You're here, what is it?" she asked.

I don't actually know how to say this to her as nicely as possible but-- "Uh, someone came to my apartment building today. He asked about me. The owner said he's tall. D-do you know anyone?" I asked her.

"H-how would I know?" she asked innocently.

"Well," this is when I realized it was very wrong to ask her in the first place. "The owner mentioned he was driving an expensive car so I thought you knew him since you are the only one who knew my address that might know someone who drives an expensive car."

"But-- I- I didn't share your address." she defended herself. I felt bad when I saw her being scared and confused.

"No- I was just asking." now I don't know what to tell her. "I'm not mad or something. I don't mind you sharing my address. It's just that I want to know who that is."

"But I didn't--"

"No. I know it's not you. I-it's fine. Don't think about it." I tried to end the conversation.

"Trust me I didn't share your address with someone." she insisted.

"Yeah. It's just that the car is expensive. It's not about sharing the address with some-- AH! forget it." I said.

"But I really didn't."

It took me 10 minutes to assure her that it's not that I am suspecting her about sharing my address. I only asked her not because I thought she is sharing my address but because of the expensive car, he's driving. I don't know anyone on that level. I thought it's her or she might know him. I shouldn't have had asked.

Then we started following someone in the company again today. To learn new things and to most likely experience what they actually do in the real business world.

Lunchtime came and I went to the cafeteria alone because I lost Leigh all of a sudden. There's a lot of people there coming from the other floors of the building too. I found out that this cafeteria was for Wong's employees only but since the other floor doesn't have a cafeteria, they come here for lunch.

I was next in line when suddenly, "Sky!" someone called me. I looked back and found out that it's Lucas' secretary. I found out her name was Minnie.

"Hey." I greeted her. I really wanted to eat my lunch now but I had to leave the line and come to her.

'I'm glad I saw you here," she said. "I need help to deliver food to Mr. Wong's office. The one who deliver the food was absent so I need to come here instead. I need to deliver food for two and they come in trays so I need someone to help me." she said straight away.

"O-okay." I answered. We're just going to deliver it right? And I promised myself to be nice to Lucas so I guess helping deliver his food is the first step.

"Are you sure?" she asked but I know she won't be able to get any help if I were to say 'no'.

"Yeah, sure," I answered.

We went to the back part of the cafeteria. She said Lucas's food was there and it's already prepared. I want to suggest borrowing a food cart or simply putting the food inside a bag but I couldn't.

We took two trays and proceeded to bring them up to the last floor.

"There's two." I said when I noticed there are two trays.

"Yes. His friend came from Australia."

"I see," I said. We were waiting for the elevator to come down. We were standing next to each other when suddenly, I saw how red Minnie's face is.

"W-what's wrong?' I asked her. "Your face is red."

"I-it's just that, Mr. Wong's friend is hotter than him." she giggled.

Eh? Don't tell me she thinks Lucas is Hot despite being his secretary? Don't tell me she likes Lucas this whole time?

"I-I see," I answered awkwardly.

I looked around again and thought the elevator would come faster. I looked up and saw that the Consecutive's elevator and the employee's elevator is coming down at the same time. I don't know if it's a coincidence but it's quite rare to see two elevators coming down at the same time and pace. Watching the numbers go down at the same time is satisfying.

But-- suddenly, the consecutive's elevator stopped at the 4th floor and the employee's elevator continued to the first floor.

What a shame.

The door opened and we went in right away. There are 2 girls who came out and we were alone in the elevator. Minnie pressed the last floor and we went up. I was moving my shoes until we went up.

We arrived at the last floor a few moments later. Minnie knocked before entering.

"Oh, it's you." I looked up when Lucas suddenly said that and pointed at me. He must have remembered that moment when my heel was broken. I don't know what to answer so I stayed quiet. Then he murmured something that couldn't hear. I looked at him but he smiled as if he didn't do anything.

"W-where's your friend, Sir?" Minnie asked.

Right, the friend wasn't in the room. I looked around. This is my first time coming into his office. It's bigger than I thought. But this whole floor is only half the width of the rest of the floors under. It must be because he planned to make it his office in the first place.

I am surprised to see action figures in his office. There's a huge couch aside from the huge office table. There's a cabinet with pictures that I couldn't see, an 'L' shaped table in the corner which has a coffee maker on it, and a few mugs. The most amazing part of the office is the glass walls where you can literally see the whole view from this point. There's a door too which I think is his personal comfort room.

You can only see brown and pale black on the inside of the office especially in the furniture. There are a few greens too which I think were fake.

"He went out to get something from his car," he answered Minnie.

"O-oh. I see," she answered but I know she's kinda disappointed not being able to see that friend here.

"Thank you," Lucas said and we went out.

"It's okay, Minnie." I tried to console her but no use. "but you can stay at your post and wait for him to come again." I said and pointed at her desk in front of the elevator. I'm sure she's going to be able to see him there.

She immediately went back to her post and picked her mirror and hairbrush and started fixing her hair. While she was doing that, I heard the sound of my own stomach.

"I-I need to go," I told her.

"Oh right. You're having your lunch," she said.

"Thank you for helping me. I really appreciate it," she said.

"No problem," I said. "I have to go," I said. The door opened and when I was taking a step into the elevator, I heard the sound from the executive's elevator.

What a shame, I am not able to see the friend. But I scoffed it off and pressed the first floor.
