Maybe people stared as they walked past, hand in hand but who was Jaxon to care when the sun glinting off Leon's hair had his entire attention.
He nearly hiccupped his heart to his throat when Leon kept their hands intertwined, helping him cross the busy street so that they could city watch.
The first place they went past was the high rise shopping district, people milled around them, mostly groups of females hurrying to throw away their money in the glittery shops full of expensive wares.
The stores made for pretty eye candy though, not that Leon would know, he had to constantly remind himself to look away from Jaxon's smiling face so that they did not trip or smack into a wall.
He was the one leading the way after all, he couldn't risk being distracted.
There were couples around too, visibly hand in hand and making heart eyes at each other, the majority of the population were tourists and so they were mostly humans.
The next lane they made their way into was starkly different from the first, it was quieter and less shiny. The street was lined up with antique shops and little, quirky shops that sold trinkets and souvenirs.
Leon stopped in front of one of these. "Want to get something?" He cocked a brow at Jaxon who was distracted by a large family just on the other side of the street.
Paper District was a small part of the little town of Pine Creek but for some reason, the occupants of Reef City were fascinated by it, although it wasn't the only small town around.
So they flocked to it for weekend trips and slowly, Paper District was created to cater for their needs because the small, quiet town hid a much more sinister secret.
"We don't have to, I'm fine with just window shopping." He declined, already distracted again by another store at the far end.
Leon just tugged him along behind him. "I know but I'm offering or I could just get something and gift it to you…"
Jaxon sighed, a faint look of amusement on his face, he knew very well that Leon would find a way to do what he wanted, arguing with the werewolf was futile…
He just wished he had declined the offer more strongly.
"Really? Really Leo? Cat ears? I'm not even a cat." He complained, pointing at the black cat ears headband he wore as they made their way out of the store, Leon sporting gray fluffy wolf ears.
"How was I supposed to know it was an animal souvenir shop?" Leon chuckled nervously, tugging on one of his new pair of ears.
Jaxon was the one leading the way now, his hand securely around Leon's wrist as he tugged down down the street in a hurry before Leon felt inclined to go back to the souvenir store for tails.
"That doesn't answer my question." He muttered in a peeve, looking away so that Leon did not see the pink crawling up his face.
He couldn't help that reaction, not when Leon looked like a wolf that wanted to eat him up.
"But you made no complaints when I got them for you." Leon mumbled, deflating gradually.
Jaxon stopped and looked back with an amused smile, reaching up to pat his face. "I never said I didn't like them, come, we're just starting our trip." He said, letting go of Leon to skip forward.
Leon easily caught up, entwining his hand with Jaxon's to tuck him close.
The next line was the best yet, there was an amusement park, fair rides, toy shops, it was a child's dream.
Leon was thinking hard about where to begin from when he felt himself being tugged in a different direction. "W-wha…"
"Cotton candy, Leo, I want one." Jaxie implored, his eyes fixed on the prize.
"Sure." He agreed without hesitation.
"Now as I was planning…"
"Photo booth!" The redhead perked up again, holding his cone securely as he dashed for the structure, tugging Leon beside him.
As soon as they were inside, Jaxie threw himself on Leo to take the first picture and Leo's complaints died on the tip of his tongue, slipping an arm securely around his waist.
They needed to take souvenirs back anyway, he was sure Darian would particularly like the one where Jaxie was sitting on him and laughing his heart out, he thought smugly.
"Ready to try out the rides now?" He asked patiently, his eyes twinkling which was merely an echo of the lights in Jaxon's eyes.
Jaxie hiccuped and nodded, he might be on a sugar rush, maybe he should not have eaten so much sugar so quick.
"Which should we try first?" Leon asked, getting the tickets while Jaxon looked around.
"Ferris wheel? I guess." He chuckled nervously, Leo still held his hand although the Warrior was the only one in the line.
Leo glanced at him with a raised brow, looking unruffled although he had a wolf ear headband on and had cotton candy in his hair. "Ferris wheel?" He repeated, a sun ray falling on him.
Was it possible to fall in love with someone all over again?
"Yeah, I get spun too much and I'll throw up so I can watch you do the others if you want."
Leon stepped out the line and into his personal space, his arm supporting him when he stumbled back in surprise.
"I'm not riding unless it's with you." He said, turning to leave for the Ferris wheel.
Jaxie's face turned a brighter shade of pink and it wasn't from the exertion and sunlight, he could guess why Leon chose this walk around the district for their date.
He had been trying to get Jaxon to get more sunlight, something that Jaxon wasn't the biggest fan of.
It was because of his skin, it was pale, pretty and sensitive as hell, he could already feel the freckles prickling all over his face and shoulder blades.
