Their destination though was Paper District, a fancy restaurant that definitely required a reservation beforehand, Leon clearly put a lot of preparation in.
"You don't have to keep opening doors for me."
Jaxon mumbled with heated cheeks when Leon held open the door to the restaurant, he had done the same with the car door again.
"But I want to." He answered easily.
They were directed to their table and Leon was a few steps away from committing mass murder, if one more waitress smiiled suggestively at Jaxie or some patron stared at him for far too long one more time, he was pretty sure he would lose it.
What made it slightly bearable was that Jaxon didn't even notice the attention he garnered, a ghost of a smile drifted across Leon's face, expected.
Jaxon gave up on complaining when Leon drew out his chair for him, Leon didn't seem to mind after all.
He wished his face would stop heating up though, that was upsetting.
A waitress came over to their table and Jaxon narrowed his eyes in irritation at how she lingered at Leon's side, her eyes occasionally passing over him appreciatively.
Leon's thoughts were even more unsettled and he had to dig his hands into his thighs to stop himself from breaking something or someone.
The waitress didn't need to smile that much at Jaxie, neither did she need to compliment his hair, Leo could easily tell him how beautiful his hair was, he didn't need to hear it from anyone else.
The poor waitress who had just been trying to be polite was terrified away from the table, the death glares she received from both men had her wary of returning with their orders.
She was still new to the job and could make no heads or tail of why they seemed so aggressive towards her, no way she was going back there.
"Your hair is beautiful." Leon said a tad aggressively with a serious expression, reaching out a hand to touch the dark red curls.
Jaxon's eyes went wide at this, pausing in his motion of drinking water.
"Um… thanks?" He mumbled, wondering what Leon was going on about.
He had not done anything special to his hair, simply running a brush through and his hair which didn't need a lot of encouragement to frizz out was everywhere, tousling in the worst way.
Leon let go of the wild lock in his hand and sat back, oddly satisfied - there he had done it and Jaxon would know he wasn't just being nice too like their waitress had been.
Jaxon had paid little attention to what the waitress said to him after making his order, Leon snagging his attention again so he hadn't even been aware that she had complimented his hair, so Leon's compliment had come out of the blue.
Their meal came, this time it was a noticeably different waitress who was extremely professional and wasted no time, leaving almost as soon as she came.
That was fine with Leon, he didn't want anyone else fawning over Cherry but him.
It was just the beginning of the date but Jaxon was already worrying about the future.
What if this was just a glitch in the matrix and it never happened again?
Virgil had been looking for the perfect moment to implement him taking the weekends off without using his authority, he would never be allowed to work weekends again.
What was he to do if this all never happened again? Pick up knitting? Or date Darian - a small voice whispered at the back of his head and he had never pushed away a thought so fast, he couldn't do that to Leo.
"Are you okay?" Leon's worried voice interrupted his raging thoughts, looking at him with an intense, worried stare.
"Huh?" Jaxon snapped out of it, blinking rapidly.
"You're not eating." He frowned, reaching out to cover Jaxie's hand on the table with his own.
Jaxon cleared his throat, flustered. "Sorry." he chuckled nervously, rubbing his cheek with his free hand. "Got distracted by my thoughts."
Leon hummed, still studying him intently.
Jaxie's breath hitched when he felt Leon lace their fingers together and somehow end up rubbing his thumb in slow circles over the center of his palm - that was far more distracting than his thoughts!
It was almost like Leon wanted to be the cause of his distraction, that seemed like something he would absolutely do.
Jaxon averted his gaze and tried to return back to eating like there was not a fine dusting of pink over his cheeks.
The rest of the meal was filled with cordial conversation and after a while, Leon let go of his hand so he could eat properly and thankfully made no further advances.
Jaxon wasn't sure how he felt about that. Sure, he was mortified each time Leon did as little as wink at him or stare at him intensely for too long but when it wasn't happening, his overactive mind went on a roll.
Did he do something wrong? Was this just a friendly date as friends? What the fuck was wrong with him??
"Eh? Are we going somewhere else after this?" He asked Leon when the taller werewolf handled the check and led them out of the restaurant but didn't head for the car.
Leon just grinned at him, taking his hand one more time. "You never leave your office, let's sightsee a bit, yeah?"
That wicked smile was enough to convince Jaxie, who was he to say no to a request like that?
