Chereads / Cherry (BL) / Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

Jaxon was ready half an hour before time and he had managed to talk himself into a state of calm.

It was really just Leon.

He had other things to worry about anyway, like his worsening sleep schedule and the impending trip to the Pack in Cone.

And the fact that he would truly be spending quite a while there with Leon and Darian for company.

He had come to learn that the name of the Pack was Midnight, a beautiful name.

Hopefully their stay in Midnight Pack would not be traumatic, for everyone involved.

It seemed like far too much to hope for.

A couple feet outside his door, Leon was making his way over.

He stride down the hallways, a look of concentration on his face.

He didn't really pay attention to his surroundings, it didn't matter because he had a destination, every other thing was secondary.

He had panicked a bit while dressing up, thinking that maybe he should wear something formal for their date but then he remembered just who it was that he was taking on a date.

He would be lucky if Jaxon didn't show up in his pajamas, not that he would mind, Cherry was always stunning.

As he made his way down the hallway, his mind was occupied as it had been ever since Darian brought up the suggestion of asking Jaxon out on a date.

He was distracted and so he didn't notice his twin coming from a connecting hallway, not till he tripped over Ian's outstretched leg.

He caught himself before he hit the ground, too distracted to even be properly angry and so a slight frown settled over his features as he looked at the cause of his almost fall.

"Ian?" He raised a brow at his brother, more curious than upset because Ian wouldn't have done that without good reason.

"Here." Ian stiffly handed him a stalk of rose. "Try to have fun." He muttered, disappearing just as silently as he had come.

Leon blinked in surprise at his twin's actions, staring at Ian's rapidly retreating back.

He glanced down at the flower in his hand, a small smile drifting across his face.

It was just like Ian to have the solution to his problems, he had been worrying about how the date would go when all he needed to do was have fun.

He continued on, getting to Jaxon's front door and knocking.

Quiet footsteps and then the door swung open to reveal Jaxon looking up expectantly.

They stared at each other for the longest of seconds before Leon swept out the flower with a flourish, winking on a smirk.

"Morning, Cherry."

Jaxon choked politely, struggling to hold back his laughter as he accepted the flower, this looked like it would be fun…

"Hi." He answered breathily, cradling the rose given to him in both hands. "Be right back." He said quickly, disappearing back into his apartment, no doubt to keep the rose properly.

He chuckled to himself as he did so, he didn't think Leon would be the romantic type to bring flowers for his date.

It warmed him from within.

It was starting to slowly sink in that this was a real date, it made hope bloom a little in him, vibrant like the rose given to him.

He wouldn't lie to himself that he didn't know what kind of person Leon was but he'd take that chance, what was the worst that could happen? That he would get his heart broken?

It didn't seem like a fun outcome but if things turned out that way, he'd take it anyway, for the experience.

He laughed nervously as he made his way back, hopefully if he told himself that often enough, he would believe it.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." He smiled at Leon who had been waiting patiently.

"It's fine, you ready?" Leon asked with bright eyes.

"Sure, where are we going?" Jaxon asked curiously, stepping out of his apartment to lock the door.

"You'll see." Leon replied sneakily, sparkles in his eyes as he started down the hallway.

He kept his hand by his side, fingers twitching like they wished to do something.

Jaxie glanced down at Leon's hands, looked up at his face and down at his fidgeting hands again.

Who knew Leo also got flustered? It gave him a confidence boost, it wasn't just him that was nervous.

Moving closer, he gently slipped his hand in Leon's, giving him a bright smile when he glanced down.

Leon smirked at this, maneuvering their joined hands so that his arm wrapped around his waist.

Jaxon colored up a bright red at this turn of events, he had no option than to let Leon have his way, trying to resist might just get him swept off his feet.

He wasn't interested in making his way down the flights of stairs in that position.

If anyone noticed them, they made no comments although their curiosity shone bright in their eyes.

Leon kept his arm around Jaxon till they got to his car, opening the door for him and helping him.

"I know how to get into a car." Jaxon grumbled, a faint dusting of pink still visible on his cheeks.

"I know you do." Leon agreed, leaning forward to kiss his curls before carefully closing the door and making his way around to the driver's side.

Jaxie cupped his flaming cheeks in both hands, sweater paws covering half his hands.

It was an endearing habit that Leon was starting to do more often, he wasn't complaining.

The journey began and Jaxon's curiosity mounted, where would they go?

Asking Leon would be another dead end because he had that look on his face, the one that he sported when he had something to show off, he had not seen it in years.

Hopefully, the date wouldn't be anywhere scandalous, he doubted there were even places like that in Pine Creek not if they would be making the journey to the city.

And if they were, Leon owed him to tell him that much.

Knowing Leon, he wouldn't be surprised if he managed to find somewhere questionable even in the small town of Pine Creek.

They drove past both Pack Houses and past the town proper, Leon was driving with so much concentration that Jaxon was almost sure they would be leaving the town.
