Preliminary Extraordinary Education. This stage was the boundary that separated the present day adults and the children.
It was the starting point of the official education of the three supernatural pathways, They were known as the Mage path, Martial Artist path, and lastly, the Contracter path.
With an esper ability with a range of approximately 10 meters, Kirt was determined to be a mage. After all, his esper ability and situation were neither suited for close combat nor any contracts with monsters. So, his choice was obvious by the process of elimination.
Once he takes the test and 9th grade ends, he will be able to start Preliminary Extraordinary Education.
There was a whole road filled with light in front of him. This road and period would determine his future so he didn't dare slack a bit; even if it was half a month away from actually happening.
He had to prepare as much as he can in order to enter a decent school.
...
The next morning.
Kirt had got up as usual and wore his uniform. He decided to sleep and skip God's Lore yesterday since refreshing pills didn't seem to do much anymore.
He wore his uniforms, completed his daily routine and then closed the door behind him.
"Clank" the door made a clank sound as it closed. After that, a serious of footsteps came out as Kirt walked down the corridor.
He was taking a train to the school like he usually did today. Although the train was indeed a bit crowded, it was no problem to him who was used to such situations. During the way, he just stood on the sides and listened to music with his earphones.
It wasn't long before the train arrived at his desired destination.
After getting off, he directly went to his school on foot.
In front of the large school gate, he encountered many other students who were similarly walking to the school on foot.
The School of Saint Trypa could be considered to be a school that was popular in its mythology. Its students mained towards ancient lores and history. Not a science based school but a kind of religious school except that it didn't exactly worship any gods nor forced its students to.
With a total of students nearing 800 and being one of the better schools in the city of Evlogo, it wasn't a bad school at all.
It also had a rather large structure. A three-floor classic school building with a field beside it.
Even though it was still a while before school starts, many students were entering the school now making it rather crowded. It was fitting of its image as a Saint private school.
He fit his way into the school and directly went to his classroom without stopping at anything.
Entering the classroom, Kirt heaved a sigh of relief. Then, he sat on his chair before proceeding to take out a book.
It was still some time before school starts so, he was going to read while I can.
...
The book was about the three pathways and their specialties. Since he had money now, he didn't hesitate to use it for knowledge such as this. It had only arrived yesterday late evening so he hadn't even started it yet.
Hence, with expectation towards it, he started the book.
"Everything we see today originates from the Founding Four Gods. The elements, mana, and the spiritual qi we observe originate from their bodies and spirituality."
That was the first sentence. His response to it was simply a sigh.
If the book's start was like this, it was quite obvious how the rest was going to be. I was a little disappointed but didn't let it get to my head. After all, even if the book pushed all the secrets of the pathways to the gods, it would still contain some basic and fundamental knowledge that he needed.
So, I continued reading on.
"... Magicians are people who use formations and the surroundings mana to perform supernatural feats. They resemble espers in a way but fundamentally, different from them. They can cast spells, which their power will depend on their ability to draw in surrounding mana."
"Martial artists absorb spiritual qi and meditate to advance in their path. They are powerful close combat fighters and are also adept in utilizing various weapons."
"As for Contractors, they form a party with monsters. The relation of the person the monster could either be that of an owner and a pet, or of equal standings. As long as both of the party is satisfied with the cooperation, they are considered to be a contractor and a contracted beast."
This was what I read after skipping the initial introduction and the author's note. It was just like I had thought, containing a description of the three pathways.
Since these were basic knowledge, I just nodded and continued reading.
...
Classes had started and I had long put the book away.
But it was boring during the lesson. The lessons of this season were mostly just reviewing old knowledge so I wasn't much interested in them. It was obvious what I chose to do then. On the premise that I wouldn't get caught, I brought out the book once again. Then, I continued from the part where I had left behind earlier.
The points made after the three pathways' description was mostly about the disadvantages and also the advantages of each pathway. Seeing from the author's perspective, he didn't seem to be much of a person that believed in gods. It was strange but I just dismissed it lightly and didn't pay much attention to it.
After all, there was no use guessing or knowing the author's purpose for saying that sentence at the start.
