Chapter 34 - Crystal Box and Weird Coincidence

"Will that be enough for you to be safe?" Robert asked, looking at the ice wall and wondering if the Scorpedes would be able to break through it.

"Hmm, no probably not. I'll make some straw golems that protect me as well," Sydra said while pulling a few bundles of straw, sticks, and rope out of his Arbor Sanctum. After tying the bundles of straw together, and inserting the sticks into them to give them stability, Sydra created a few spiders. Placing a spider into each of the thirteen straw golem's heads, Sydra had them run strands of web throughout the body and control it using electricity. This is the same way he had the training dummies move while he was practicing inside Echo's stone room.

"I have commanded each of the spiders to attack anything that enters this room that is not me. This means I will have to be the first one to exit the Arbor Sanctum when we're done inside," Sydra said as he walked up to each golem and handed them a weapon. Five of them received swords, another five received shields, and the last three received bows.

"Before we head in, shouldn't we finish checking this room, and also shut the door? I'll turn on the lights while you do that," Robert said while walking over to the light switch.

"That makes sense, a few of those creatures could be hiding in the kitchen area," Sydra said as he closed the door to the cafeteria and covered it in ice.

'Click' The lights slowly flickered on and showed the cafeteria in a clear light. Although the walls, floor, and ceiling had not burned during the explosion, they were still scorched black with craters pocketing the floor in multiple areas. Pulling a straw broom out of his Arbor Sanctum, Sydra activated his lightning aura and speed across the floor, sweeping up all the ash left on the ground from the tables disintegrating. Since all the tables had been made out of wood, Sydra could put the ash leftover inside a compost pile, and eventually use it as fertilizer for his lawn, garden, and other areas that would need fertilizer.

Once all the ash was sent away, Sydra began looking around the ceiling for vents or some other way that smoke from the burning tables could have escaped.

"What are you looking for?" Robert asked in confusion, as he looked up at the ceiling as well.

"I'm trying to figure out where all the smoke went, also don't you think it is weird that although this place has been supposedly abandoned for so long it is incredibly clean, with no dust to spot?" Sydra asked as he walked over to the counter and looked into the kitchen area.

"I didn't even think about it, but your right. This place is unnaturally clean, and the Scorpedes don't seem like the type of creature that would take their time to clean a place up," Robert said as he hopped over the counter and began searching the area for anything else unusual.

"I also saw a young boy's corpse earlier, and although it was decomposed, it didn't seem like it had been thousands upon thousands of years, at most a few months old," Sydra said, remembering the horrific sight of the young boy's corpse.

"Really? This place is just getting more and more suspicious," Robert said while closing a refrigerator door and opening another one. So far they had all been empty, but also incredibly clean.

"Well, it seems this room is safe for the moment. Let's go and check on Cidre now," Sydra said walking over to Robert and sending him into the Arbor Sanctum. Hopping back over the counter, Sydra had the straw golems surround him before activating his Ancient Root Defense as an extra barrier between him and any unseen dangers. Sitting on the floor, he entered his meditative state and went inside the Arbor Sanctum.

"Did Sydra come in with you? What's going on out there?!" Sydra heard Erich ask as he appeared in the palace.

"I'm right here, and everything on the outside is okay at the moment. How is Cidre doing, did the tree sap stop the poison from continuing to infect him?" Sydra asked as he walked up to the bed that Cidre was laying on, with his breathing still slightly erratic.

"The tree sap was successful in stopping the spreading of the poison, but it seems that since the needle pierced him so close to his head and heart that it still did enough damage. He has been like this for the past two hours, and it seems he won't regain consciousness until we find a cure for him," Erich said while pulling the bandages that covered Cidre's neck away to show the others. Beneath the bandages was a swollen red bump, with pulsing yellow lines crisscrossing around it.

"I think we have the cure with us, but I need to do some research on the matter before I'm sure," Sydra said, thinking back to the cabinets he had brought into the Arbor Sanctum. "Continue to watch over his condition while Robert and I look over some things," he said before leading Robert away to look through the contents of the cabinet.

"What is was looking for exactly?" Robert asked as he opened a folder and looked at a few pictures of a planet with information written beneath it.

"Look for anything that has to do with the Scorpedes and their poison. Maybe it will also say something about the cure," Sydra said while picking up another one of the folders and flipping it open. Inside was information on an alien species called the Wunter, and it was a large creature covered in green armor and spikes. One of its arms carried a large shield, and the other arm was said to be able to fire energy spheres out.

"This isn't it, dang where is it?" Sydra said as he put the folder back inside the cabinet and pulled out another one.

"Hey, I think I found something here!" Robert said while showing Sydra the folder in his hands. "It says here that although they were never able to get their hands on the seed that the Emerald Tree group came up with, they did find an antidote. The final part says that they did have one successful test of the antidote, but then they were overwhelmed by some of the Scorpedes that had somehow escaped," Robert said as he read over the information and summarized it.

"That's good, but where is the antidote now? Does it say anything about that?" Sydra asked, looking over the information for himself. Finding nothing about where they put the antidote, Sydra grew anxious and punched one of the cabinets with enough force to knock it over.

'Crash' The cabinet made a loud sound as it crashed onto the floor sending many papers flying. Cursing his idiocy, Sydra squatted down and began picking the papers up off the ground. Reaching for one of the papers that had a picture of a dark red planet and two broken moons floating around, Sydra's eyes caught sight of something sticking out from the bottom of the cabinet he had knocked over.

"Huh, what's this?" Sydra asked aloud as he pulled the bottom of the cabinet off to reveal a crystal box behind it. Pulling out the crystal key he had found earlier, he found out that it fitted into the slot on the box. Opening the box, Sydra found a small clear case of bottles with orange liquid inside them. On top of the case was a tag with instructions on it that read 'Insert a green needle from the Scorpede guards into the orange liquid and then pierce the spot that was infected by the previous needle. Depending on how affected the person is, they should be fine within ten to fifteen minutes.

"What kind of coincidence is this?!" Sydra said as he looked at the antidote in his hands with disbelief. Looking back into the crystal box, Sydra noticed another piece of paper stuck to the lid. Pulling it off and opening it, he was surprised to see that it was a map of the building they were in currently.

"We have to get back to Cidre quickly, you can look at that map later!" Robert reminded him while running back to the room Cidre was still in. Running to grab one of the green needles he had picked up earlier, Sydra quickly followed behind.

"We're you guys able to find something that quickly?" Erich asked, looking at the two of them in amazement. They had only been good for five minutes, and they were already back with what he assumed to be the antidote.

"Yeah, we found it. Quickly move to the side!" Sydra said as he pushed past Erich and pulled out one of the orange bottles and stuck the green needle into it. After the needle was fully coated in the orange liquid Sydra hovered it above the swollen part on Cidre's neck.

'Please work!' Sydra thought while piercing the needle into Cidre's neck.
