Chapter 36 - Space Ship

'Crack' Robert slammed his war hammer into the ice wall for the seventh time causing more cracks to form on it.

"Will you ever break through it?" Cidre inquired from behind Robert, watching him pull back his hammer again.

"Yeah, I almost got it. It's not my fault Sydrs created such a thick wall," Robert said as he slammed his hammer into the ice again. This time the cracks that had been holding the ice together the last few swings finally gave up, and the ice wall crumbled down. "See, I told you I could do it," Robert said, as he dropped his hammer down to his side and rubbed his hands together.

"Good job. Alright let's go check the other rooms, and see if we find anything else of interest before we come back here," Sydra said while leading the group out and heading to the next door over. The next few rooms that the group entered were mostly filled with cabinets and storage items.

Entering the fifth room, Sydra was surprised to see a large number of chests stacked against the walls. Walking up to one of the chests, he slowly opened the lid and peeked inside.

"Rocks?" Erich asked inside peeking over Sydra's shoulder and looking inside the chest. The chest was filled to the brim with odd stones that reflected the light of the lanterns that the group was carrying.

"I believe they are meteorites that fell to Phisloke and we're collected by the owners of this building to study," Sydra said as he tried to pull out one of the stones, only to find out it was heavier than he expected. "I'm going to send all of these into the Arbor Sanctum, but I'm not sure if all these chests have meteorites inside them. Do you guys mind opening the rest of them and seeing if they do?" Sydra asked as he began touching each meteorite one by one. While doing so, he also directed the meteorites to reappear in his Arbor Sanctum around his garden. This would make it so that he didn't have to do it later.

"Sure, I'll start on the opposite wall, while you two get the other two walls," Robert said he headed over to the wall opposite of Sydra. Opening one of the chests, he expected to find more meteorites inside, but instead, he found a large number of light blue gems.

"Did these also come from outer space? I haven't seen so many gems in my entire life... I wonder if they are rare," Robert said to himself as he pulled out one of the light blue gems and peered into it. While laying in his palm, the gem lost its solidity and became a small puddle. When Robert pinched it between his fingers it became solid once more. "Interesting, I'm sure someone would pay a high price for this," he said as he dropped the gem back into the chest. Opening another one, Robert spied a large number of red gems that gave off a bit of heat.

"Do the color of the gems dictate what they can do?" Robert asked as he picked up one of the red crystals and squeezed it between his fingers. While he was holding it the gem began to lose its color and Robert felt his fire aura increasing.

"What do you have there?" Sydra asked walking up beside Robert and looking down at the grey crystal in his hand.

"I'm not certain what these crystals are, but when I touched this red crystal I felt my fire aura growing. I think all these chests are filled with a different type of crystal that can increase a person's power," Robert said while pulling out another red crystal and doing the same thing with it.

"Really?! Guys come over here, and pick up some of these crystals. See if you feel any change to the aura of your powers from them," Sydra said calling over the other two.

"Actually I was already doing that with the crystals I found in these chests," Erich said while opening another chest and pulling out a crystal only to drop it back in dejectedly. His power revolved around the kinetic force, and it was a rare power for someone to have. It seemed that the crystals that focused on that power were also rare.

"I also found crystals in my chests, but something odd happened when I picked up this green and purple crystal. I felt an aura in my body, that I didn't have before, increasing incredibly quickly," Cidre said while holding up a crystal for the others to see.

"Try activating it, and see what happens," Sydra said while opening a chest of his own and pulling out a like green crystal that started to increase his regeneration.

"Okay..." Cidre said as he focused his mind on the newly formed aura in his body and activated it. As he stood there, a light purple and green most could be seen emitting from his body. Directing his gaze towards the most, Sydra's mouth dropped open.

"Stop! Retract the mist as fast as you can!" Sydra yelled while covering his face with his arm to stop himself from inhaling any of the mist on accident.

"Huh? Oh, okay!" Cidre said while trying to control the most to come back to him. The mist slowly began to collect together until it formed a smaller cloud. Seeing this, Sydra brought a bottle out from his Arbor Sanctum and tossed it to Cidre.

"Control the mist, and have it collect inside the bottle. When it condenses inside the bottle it should become liquid. Screw the lid back on the bottle once it is all inside and make sure none of it spills out," Sydra said while watching Cidre closely.

"What is this stuff, and why are you so wary of it?" Cidre asked as the last of the mist entered the bottle and he screwed the lid on top of it.

"I'm not sure how, but I think you can control poison now. I got the feeling of immense toxins in the air when you created the mist, and that is why I had you handle it so carefully. I also believe you must have gained some form of poison resistance as well, because you were standing in all that mist like it was nothing," Sydra explained as he went back absorbing the crystals.

"Wow, I wonder how potent this stuff is..." Cidre said swirling the green and purple liquid around in the bottle.

"You could probably coat the tips of your arrows in the poison, and be able to fire poison arrows," Erich said as he opened his eighth chest, which had clear vibrating crystals within it. Picking one up, Erich finally got a reaction out of it. "Finally, I found a crystal that works with my power,"

"If you do coat your arrows with that poison, you could probably take out an emperor rank beast with just a scratch. We should have Echo forge you some arrows using the meteorites we collected. If she forges them correctly they could be sharp enough to pierce through most defenses," Sydra said while opening a new chest. It seemed that they could only absorb the crystals up to a certain amount and any more would just be wasted.

"Did you already finish emptying all those chests? That was fast," Erich said, glancing over at the wall that Sydra had been at before finding out about the crystals.

"Yeah, I used my lightning aura to speed through it," Sydra said while opening a chest that had bone white crystals within. He had already finished strengthening his other powers, except for the spiders summoning one, and all he had left was the bone manipulation. Picking up five of the crystals, Sydra quickly absorbed the aura within. "Are you guys close to being done?" He asked the others that seemed to be finishing up as well.

"Yeah, I'm all done, did you want to send all these into your Arbor Sanctum, and then finish exploring this place?" Robert said as he closed the chest of fire crystals.

"Yeah, give me a second," Sydra said as he activated his lightning aura and raced around the room touching each of the chests and sending them into his Arbor Sanctum. A second later and the entire room was completely bare once more.

"You're too fast, I can't even keep up with you with my eyes," Cidre said as they walked out of the room and head to the next door.

"I don't know what to tell you, I am just too amazing," Sydra said while opening the next door that led into a large open room. In the middle of the room was a sleek grey ship that looked similar to a bird. The ship's wings resembled the feather of a majestic bird and it also had the tail feathers of a phoenix. The only thing that didn't resemble a bird on it was the cockpit, which was round with glass that slowed one to see out.

"This is the metal bird I was talking about earlier, what do you think it does?" Erich said, looking at the others faces that were blankly staring at the ship.
