Chapter 37 - Human Experiments

"I don't see any cracks that resemble a door, how are we supposed to get inside?" Robert asked as he walked around the ship. "Do you guys see keys or anything that could help us get inside?"

"Hold on a second, there may be some inside this desk," Cidre said as he walked over to a desk that was against the wall. On top of the desk was a folder with some paperwork that had information about the ship. Flipping through the papers, Cidre began to read it out loud. "Hmm, isn't this written in old Golespig? It says here that the ship is called a Grey Phoenix, and it was created to venture into outer space, but they were never able to do the test flight due to the meteorite falling,"

"If that is the case then it might not be wise for us to test out the flying capabilities of this ship. I'd say that at the moment this is no better than a fancy decoration," Sydra said as he walked up to the ship and sent it into his Arbor Sanctum.

"True... Still, that is too bad, because it would be cool to fly through space," Erich said while looking around the room to see if there was anything else of interest.

"How many more rooms do we to check?" Robert asked while walking over to the desk and opening some of its draws to see if there was anything else of interest inside.

"We have three rooms left, including the one with all the tubes I saw earlier," Sydra said as he led the others out of the room after they finished with the desk. The group opened the two doors before the room with the glass tubes, but one was simply filled with tables with half-finished planets on them, and the other was filled with storage supplies.

"Is this the last room?" Erich asked standing in front of the last closed door in the room.

"Yeah, prepare yourselves for what you will see inside. Especially the rooms with human experiments remain inside them," Sydra warned the others before Erich pushed open the door. Heading inside, everyone was shocked by the large quantities of glass tubes with Scorpedes inside them.

"Should we kill them while they are still dormant like this?" Robert asked as he tightened his grip on his war hammer.

"No, leave them be for now. The loud sound of the glass breaking may alert anything else that may be around," Sydra said as he walked through the room before stopping before an empty tube. "That's odd, I remember there being a creature inside this one," he mumbled to himself as he began looking around the room for the tube with the creature he had seen earlier inside. In one of the folders, he had found earlier, was some paperwork on the creature that stated that its name was Angelic Phantom. It had appeared on Phisloke inside a capsule, and when the group found it, it had been close to death.

"What are you looking for?" Cidre asked, noticing Sydra scouring the room with a deep look of foreboding on his face. The Angelic Phantom was an even more dangerous creature than the Scorpedes because it could phase through attacks and also possess people for a short amount of time.

"Everyone remains on guard against an attack at any moment, there may be a creature around here. It can fly, and also phase through things, so it could come out of anywhere. Even the ground," Sydra said to alert everyone of the possible danger that you!d be lurking around them.

"How are we supposed to watch out beneath us and above us at the same time?" Erich asked, trying to look at both places at once. It would have been comical had they not been in a dangerous situation.

"Should we team up into two groups?" Cidre asked walking over to Robert and standing next to him.

"You three group up together, and I'll use my speed to keep track of around me," Sydra said, as he activated his lightning aura through his body and began moving his eyes at an incredible speed. Every second that passed he would look at the ground and the ceiling seventeen times each.

"Hey, I think I see something moving over there," Erich said as he pointed in the direction of the dark glass rooms. Floating in front of it was the Angelic Phantom, which was staring back at the group. "Should we attack it?"

"No, not yet. Let's see what it does first, and then decide," Sydra said as he focused his eyes on the creature and pulled out his two daggers.

The Angelic Phantom glanced at each of them for a few seconds, before slowly floating over to Erich and stopping in front of his face. The six eyes on top of its head opened wide, and the creature looked slightly cute as it stared into Erich's eyes.

"Guys, I don't think I can kill something so cute..." Erich said as the creature lowered its head and attempted to nudge Erich's hand with its nose. While everyone was watching, Erich lifted his hand and lightly rubbed the creature's head.

'Purr' The creature began to purr and floated around Erich happily. Focusing his full attention on the creature, Sydra could sense no malicious intent from it. It was acting like a domestic pet, and it had decided that Erich was its owner.

"Be careful around that thing, although it isn't hostile right now, it could become so," Robert warned as he took a step back from Erich. He still felt slightly wary of the creatures in this base and wasn't willing to quickly trust one.

"Oh please, Pitfall wouldn't hurt anyone," Erich said as his arm was lifted into the air by the creature.

"Pitfall? Did you name it Pitfall?" Cidre asked, baffled at Erich's choice of a name for the creature.

"Yeah, doesn't he just look like a Pitfall?" Erich asked

"Sure... So what else do we need to do in this room?" Cidre asked, glancing back at Sydra was turning on the lights to the glass rooms and checking each one.

"I wanted to see what was going on in here. Why are they running human experiments, and when was the last one?" Sandra responded as he looked inside an empty glass room. So far only two of the rooms had humans strapped to the table inside, and both times it was with children. Walking up the final room, Sydra braced himself for whatever could be inside. Flipping on the light, Sydra let out a light gasp at the scene inside. It was a young girl this time, and she seemed to have been put inside recently.

"Is she dead?" Robert asked as he peered into the room with a sad look on his face. The girl had been strapped to the table just like the others, and she had wires that were running between her and another table that had a small red creature on it.

"Yeah, I think so," Sydra said as he began to turn around, anger seen clearly on his face. As he was about to say something to the others he saw the girl's hand twitch out of the corner of his eye. Whipping his head back, Sydra peered closer at the girl. "She's... She's still alive! Find the door to this room quickly!" Sydra commanded the other while still watching the girl. A few seconds later and her hand twitched again. Seeing the girl moving to get off a chain reaction in the others and they began running around the room looking for a way to get into the room.

"I don't see any way in!" Erich yelled as he ran to the left side of the room, with Pitfall floating in the air behind him.

"Screw this, I'm just going to break the window!" Robert exclaimed as he ignited his war hammer and slammed it against the window.

'Crack' Large cracks could be seen forming on the window before Robert slammed his hammer into it again shattering it into pieces. As the glass fell to the ground inside the room, Sydra hopped over the broken pieces and ran up to the young girl. Checking her pulse, Sydra confirmed she was still alive and began tearing the wires out of her body.

'Groan' The young girl let out a soft moan and her eyes slowly fluttered open.

"Where am I?" She asked in a fearful voice as she looked around the unfamiliar room. "What's going on, who are you? Where is the Hive Queen?!" The girl became slightly anxious as her eyes fell onto the unfamiliar faces that were surrounding her.

"My name is Sydra, and we are currently in an underground area. Can you tell me the last thing you remember?" Sydra asked the young girl as he helped her sit up and gave her some water.

"The last thing I remember? That would be when I was chosen as the next gift for the Hive Queen, and brought to a pretty room. Some people in red clothes gave me a shot and told me it would give me the ability to speak with her. Then I fell asleep, before waking up to you people surrounding me... When do I get to meet the Hive Queen?" The young girl asked as she slowly drank the water and looked hopefully around the room.
