Following Erich through the doors of the Guildhall, Sydra went over to the runic tablet to test his strength one more time before, while Erich went up to the counter. Inserting his insignia into the slot and placing his hand on the runic tablet, Sydra was surprised to see he had gained another rank up from D-rank to C-rank.
"Interesting, it has only been a few days since the last time I tested my strength but I am already at C-rank. I guess gaining the lightning power and now this heat controlling power helped out a bit. I really need to upgrade my abilities a bit more though, at the moment they are only okay and not amazing," Sydra said aloud as he pulled his insignia out, and walked up to the counter.
"We finished this quest and have acquired the parts of seven turtles at the Evolved rank and one the bulb of a turtle at the King rank. Where would you like us to put them?" Erich asked the young attendant that Sydra had interacted with before.
"Oh, wow! Seven turtles at the evolved rank? If you really do have these parts please put them inside this chest here." The attendant said, pointing at a large wooden chest that was off to the side of the counter. It was a spatial runic chest that separated the things put inside it into bins, then it record these items onto a blue screen that was similar to the one the runic tablet used. Whenever something was needed, the person taking the items out would just have to click on the screen and select the bin the items were in.
"Excuse me, miss. The chest is still locked, and I don't have the key to open it." Sydra said, pulling on the lid to the chest without it budging. There was an insignia slot on the chest, and only people who had their insignias recorded into the chest could open.
"I'm so sorry, give me a second." The attendant said, as she fumbled to pull out her insignia and insert it into the slot. A few seconds later the lid of the chest glowed blue and popped open, allowing Sydra to place the seven turtle shells and eight bulbs inside.
"Alright, the items have been recorded, and it looks like you guys really did defeat seven Fireback Turtles. Very impressive. Here is the reward, a total of one hundred and fifty gold coins per shell, and three hundred gold coins per bulb. This comes out to a total of three thousand, one hundred and fifty gold coins for the two of you. would you like that split in two for you?" The attendant asked, separating the gold coins into two piles of one thousand, five hundred and seventy-five gold coins.
After thanking the elf, and collecting the gold coins, Sydra and Erich went and sat down on a bench in the Guildhall. They were supposed to meet up with Robert and Cidre when the flame tower's flame hit the fourteenth mark and at the moment it was in the middle of the thirteenth mark and the fourteenth mark.
"Hey, do you want me to go and sell the turtle meat to the restaurants? I could probably do and be back in time for us to meet up with the other two," Erich said, thinking it would be better if they sold the meat now, instead of waiting.
"Yeah, give me a second," Sydra said before disappearing into his Arbor Sanctum and getting the meat out of his refrigerator. The refrigerator was able to keep the meat frozen by using ice runes lining the inside, and wind runes to direct the cold air onto the meat. The use of runes in this era was impressive, and many people were coming up with new ways to use runes.
"Here you go," Sydra said, as he returned to his body with a bag of turtle meat appearing in his hand. Handing it to Erich for him to sell to the restaurants, Sydra waited until everyone showed up. A few minutes later Cidre walked in through the doors with a pack of provisions and saw Sydra.
"Hey, were you waiting long?" Cidre asked as he walked up and handed the provisions to Sydra to put away into the Arbor Sanctum.
"Nah, not that long. Erich and I just finished up our quest and he went off to sell the meat we acquired to some restaurants. We took on the Fireback Turtle quest, and ended up obtaining seven turtles. It was easy until we met a King ranked turtle..." Sydra said nonchalantly, explaining what they had done today.
"Why, what happened when you guys met a King ranked turtle?" Cidre asked, curious about why Sydra just dramatically paused.
"We almost died! Their we were, laying on our stomachs, with Erich missing an entire arm. The turtle was barrowing down on us and we couldn't move. I was doing my best to carry Erich out of there and heal myself at the same time, when I tripped and fell with him on back. As we prepared to die, a loud explosion was heard, and an elf wielding a spear manifested out of thin air and saved us. I was this close to the turtle when he appeared and saved us." Sydra said, showing the distance with his hands in exaggeration.
"Holy crap, Erich lost his arm? I can't believe how close to death you guys were." Cidre said in shock, look Sydra over for any scratches. At that moment Erich walked back in with a pouch of gold in each hand and gave one to Sydra.
"I managed to get us another three hundred gold a piece... Why are you grabbing my arm?" Erich said, glancing at Cidre who was touching his arm in amazement.
"I heard that you lost your arm in a battle against a King ranked turtle, and I was trying to figure out if this was a new arm," Cidre explained, slightly confused that the arm didn't feel new.
"Hmm, that is because the elves reattached my arm for me. This way people won't get the wrong idea if they notice me with a lopsided arm," Erich explained sitting back down next to Sydra.
"Oh, that is cool. I wonder where Robert is, it has already pasted the time we were supposed to meet up." Cidre said, looking around the Guildhall, trying to spot if Robert was anywhere to be found. A few minutes later a commotion was heard outside, with a few people going to see what was going on. Looking out the window, Sydra saw the Robert standing on top of his Fluttershi, showing it off. The upgrades Echo had done to the Fluttershi were impressive, but the most eye catching one was the large blades connected to extenders on top of it. The blades were red in color and the tips were encased in plasma, giving it a light glow.
"Hmm, looks like the Fluttershi is ready to go. Lets go out and meet with Robert, see if he needs any help with anything," Sydra said, standing up and heading outside.
"Look at my beautiful girl, I bet you all wished you had one!" Robert shouted, still standing on top of the vehicle. "Oh, Sydra come here for a second!" he shouted, sliding down the Fluttershi and garbing Sydra's arm, guiding him to the front of it.
"What did you want to show me... Wow, Echo really went all out in upgrading this," Sydra said as he stared at the Void Obsidian that created three black and purple horns on the front.
"The really cool thing is when the Void Obsidian is activated it will light these horns up and cover the Fluttershi in a purple light. It looks super cool, if I do say so myself," Robert said proudly, as he patted one of the horns.
"So are you ready for the expedition tomorrow? We are leaving early in the morning," Cidre asked Robert, as he walked up and admired the horns as well.
"Yeah, I got everything I need packed, and I'm all ready to go. You guys are staying at the Guildhall tonight right? I got all the guest rooms ready on the second floor for the three of you." Robert asked, as they walked back inside.
"Yeah, that was my plan anyway, but I wanted to get some more training in before I go." Sydra said, planning on going back to the training room that Echo owned.
"Oh? I was thinking we could have a guys night out in the town instead. How about you skip training for tonight and join us instead?" Erich asked, thinking about going out for drinks and making Sydra pay after ditching them last time.
"I guess I can do that, but I'll need someone to deliver some straw to Echo." Sydra responded after thinking about for a few seconds. He could always train while they were out on the expedition, but he couldn't get drunk out there.
