It had been more than two weeks that Artemis was immersed into adapting to the planet's ways and atmosphere. He learned a lot of important things and noted them for further knowledge.
Since the deadly games would go through a lot of trials and tasks, Artemis wanted to keep a record of his findings. The sample of lake water and beastly blood of each animal was now in his collection.
Jeremy was provided with the space ring by the agency which he destroyed, and the current one was given to him by the organizers. Things were going fine and Artemis was trying his best to win the favour from Barthes.
Just like every usual day Artemis was sent to the potioneer and on his way he greeted every citizen. With the help of Barthes he was able to mingle in without looking or behaving like an outsider.
[It's more than fourteen days already Jeremy and you still don't know what the other way is. Don't you think you should put aside your morals and just plan his murder now?]
'I can't kill an innocent person, okay. I'm aware that we have to leave but not after taking an innocent life.'
Jeremy rebuked her on the same thing for the nth time.
'And why are you even eager to show me the incompetence, when you are unable to connect to the earthly news and system, duh!'
He rolled his eyes while Axela kept quiet in the response.
Jeremy reached the main market of the town which almost had every kind of stuff, from needles to cloth…from every small necessity to the medieval luxury.
"Greetings, sir! I'm here for the raspariosiac potion."
Artemis placed the bag on the wooden table and called out to the potioneer.
A tall yet well built man appeared in his sight holding a spear, the shop resembled a hut having numerous shelves.
"What do you wish to exchange?"
"I have the rabbit beast."
Artemis replied sensing some dangerous aura from him, he had spent the weeks besides the lake. Although the healing process and the self experimentation had disclosed numerous powers to him.
"Mm, I never saw you here. Who are you, young man?"
The potioneer tried to initiate a conversation while he inspected the rabbit. Every mutated beast had its own qualities and levels which made them to select from a vast variety.
'Duh! He thinks he can win against a detective!? I'm much smarter than you,you wizard.'
Jeremy flared his nostrils with a proud sensation within him.
"Oh yes, I came to pay a visit to my uncle. I live across the town, it's a very good place."
Axela had already filled him with the neighbouring town's knowledge, Jeremy did his homework quite well to blend in.
The potioneer took the bunny and smirked meaningfully.
"This is a baby beast, not much worthy. And it's not enough to exchange for that particular potion. It takes time and hard work to brew it, let alone to get the ingredients."
The man shook his head and pushed bunny back towards Jeremy as refusal. Artemis knew Barthes sent him on this mission deliberately to catch the beast and to exchange it.
[You have to get the potion to impress that big guy. Come on, Jeremy I'm bored here on this useless planet.]
'What!? You call it useless despite all the wonders you have seen with me?'
Jeremy turned towards the tough and rough shopkeeper, while talking to Axela in his head.
"But sir, can't I get any discount or something since the senator Barthes has sent me?"
He played the card immediately to curry some favour which made the man frown.
[It's not the old times when humans would simply rely on cultivation or magic tricks or martial arts to evolve and improve the living. I'm disappointed in you Jeremy Grayson that you are fascinated by everything here, despite the fact you came from a developed planet.]
"Oh? Why didn't you say this before?"
The man's face beamed with joy after hearing that Jeremy was a special guest. He went inside and appeared with a potion bottle which had a pungent odour.
'You know that's why I like everything here because at least these people mutated themselves on their own. Or if they taught somebody else it will be willing too, unlike the people of my world.'
Axela was startled upon his sudden hatred towards his own people. But Jeremy's emotions were understandable and the stimulus for his madness.
'They mutated me without my consent, you think theseregenerationg cells are normal uh? I don't even know who I am or I'd put it in this way….what I am.'
Axela went silent and Jeremy took the potion from his hand, but in the attempt the potioneer exposed Jeremy's arm.
"I knew it! People...hey, you...catch this imposter."
The man yelled to his neighbour shopkeeper who immediately hopped from his hut, Jeremy knew the man recognised him from the wrist band player tag.
"He is posing as one of us but is an imposter, catch him!"
The man was consistently yelling while Jeremy jerked him off throwing the man back, due to his strength combined the potioneer was flown back.
"Fuck!"
A big hole was created in the back of the hut and a portal opened which engulfed the potioneer. The incident scared everybody around that one of them threw his spear at Artemis, which went through his body piercing the flesh.
[Are you alright? Hey, talk to me!]
Jeremy staggered due to the force and fell on his knees but somehow managed to support himself on the palm.
"Stop shouting, I'm fine!"
He grabbed the wooden part and inhaled sharply before pulling the spear out of his chest.
"Monster!"
A woman shouted after witnessing that the wound on Jeremy was healing, and the muscles regained strength by sewing themselves.
"He is a monster, drive him away. He is dangerous!"
People added the suggestions which forced Artemis to run towards the forest, using his high speed and bulky body it was an effortless exercise for him.
