The purple smoke engulfed the whole spot and made it unable for the assassins to see where the potioneer had vanished to.
But due to their masks and the chemical detection technology, they were able to see that the man (dummy Jeremy Grayson) had dissipated in the air.
"Find him. We have to take him back with us to earth. He is disqualified from the game."
The chief responded to his people who opened their systems on the wrists, and tracked down the traces of the smoke throughout the area.
Jeremy stood by the side of the chief who overlooked him and ran towards the potioneer. It was the moment when Barthes tried to approach the forest using all his might and speed.
[Now they are gone, what should we do?]
"Just wait till the dragon comes and we get out of here immediately."
Jeremy looked at heaven wards and waited for the dragon to appear. When a surging energy ball pierced through the air and was aimed at him.
It landed on a tree trunk making a big hole in it and the tree slumped on the ground.
[Watch out Jeremy, lay down imminently.]
Upon Axela's command he survived the blow of attack landed by Barthes. The senator had arrived to make sure Artemis was fine.
"That was a close shave but who the hell he is?"
Jeremy shouted and skimmed around only to see Barthes charging at him, he had an energy ball summoned in his hand.
Jeremy had already figured it out that humans could cultivate to create magic from different elements.
"Barthes?"
Jeremy could not grasp why he would attack him, but before he could ask him Barthes rushed at him to land a punch at his face.
"How dare you? What did you do with Artemis?"
He confronted him mistaking Artemis for the potioneer due to the swap of looks.
"He was just a kid, you swine!"
Jeremy dodged it by spinning around.
"No, wait Barthes…"
Artemis held his wrist to halt him in the position, due to their age difference Jeremy's physical strength had increased.
And the stay on planet Nrutas had actually helped him discover his super powers, the meditation proved to be an advantage to him.
"You dare talk back to give justification!? That audacity?"
Jeremy immediately jumped backwards and was right in front of the lake. It was the moment when he regretted not being able to stay on that planet for longer.
Barthes joined his hands together and a bolt forged in between his hands, it was worth pondering how he managed to forge it under clear sun.
[This is bad! You are done for if it hits you anywhere.]
"Barthes listen to me, it's me Artemis."
He tried to explain himself to convince him and inhaled deeply while stood there in a calm posture.
"No time for gibberish!"
He charged at him when Artemis haphazardly stepped back trying to figure out what to do.
"What's happening here? Why are you two creating a ruckus?"
Somehow the men sent by Jerome had caught the target and appeared into the picture.
Barthes halted his attack and lunged at them to protect Jeremy (in turn the potioneer). Not knowing the truth he charged at the chief with his bolt half vertically set.
But he got blocked immediately with a repellent blue plate which appeared in front of the chief. The shield protected him and the forged weapon dissipated in the air.
"Why are you taking him? Leave the kid alone, he has done nothing to you people."
He did not move or flinch instead spewed those words which risked his own life.
The potioneer smashed his fists against the energy bubble and called out to Barthes, the cunning thing knew he took take advantage and hoped that Barthes turns out to be stronger.
[Are you still not planning to help him? He has put his life on the palm just for you, while you are willing to dirty your hands with another murder. This time it will be intentionally done.]
Axela tried to spark something within him but perhaps Jeremy felt the faint flame losing its warmth. Would Barthes had done the same if he were in his shoes?
"You filthy mongrel, do you think you are in a position to negotiate or question the decisions?"
The chief spat at him and with a fierce force applied by the digital plate, Barthes was sent flying in the tree trunk behind him.
[You really are a piece of failed humanity!]
'Shut up!'
Jeremy had bo justification for his actions as he stood there only watching the people holding potioneer in a bubble.
"And you! You also want to save him, huh? Daring of you both to defy the commands."
Without hearing any other word from Jeremy he flung his arm out in his direction.
Artemis could not get a chance to run or to dodge and he pushed back by an invisible force produced by the floating blue plate.
'No, no, I don't know how to swim.'
He looked back and saw the edge of the lake there was no way he could have survive with no experience of swimming.
[Will see you in another life, Jeremy Grayson!]
Within a few seconds Jeremy fell into the water and a blackness engulfed him.
