The gargoyle was faster than they had expected, it was immediately on them before they had the chance to disperse, with a practiced movement, both boys simultaneously rolled out of the way trying to slash at the gargoyles feet.
The gargoyle moved quickly, leaving them slashing at thin air.
It easily wheezed past them and with both wings whacked Lisa and Anna to the floor. The wing just grazed Anna but it caught Lisa smack in her middle, she flew to the side clutching her stomach on the floor.
Levi knew he had to think fast in order to draw it's attention away from the girls, but before he could come up with an idea, Jake was already running to where Lisa's baton lay on the floor.
He picked it and flung with all his might at the gargoyles head, it barely had any impact but at least it got it's attention, Jake retreated to where Levi stood while Anna got up with effort and moved to help Lisa off the floor.
Percy had retreated with Lisa and Tony, looking for an opening to blast his flames at the gargoyle.
The gargoyle now had it's concentration on the boys, it advances towards them slowly eyeing the glint of the swords in their hands, seemingly star struck by the light which reflected off it.
Suddenly, as if it became bored, it charged at them swiping it's outstretched arm at Levi hoping to disembody him but Levi was up to par.
He expertly brought his sword to the side of his face blocking an attack which should have been hard enough to take off his head.
The blocked attack gave Jake an opportunity to swing his sword.
"Damn it" Jake cursed as he tried to move forward while swinging with all of his might. He was a bit too far to lop off the gargoyles arm but he swung hard anyway.
The sword came down hard against flesh tougher than leather, ripping through flesh as it came down.
He only managed to cut a little deep, as he tried to wring out his sword, the gargoyle looked down at him and swung his arm hard, knocking Jake almost unconscious towards the trees.
"Jake!!! You okay?" Levi shouted, jumping back at once from under the gargoyle's reach.
He backed towards Jake who was close to the bushes at the left end.
The gargoyle was not giving them time to rest, it slowly advanced towards them, like it was taking it's time to savor a meal that will be his in the end.
There was a gash of green liquid flowing down the gargoyle's arm but it didn't seem to care as it trudged forward slowly hell bent on eliminating the insolent boys that had dared to challenge it.
Jake was slowly getting up while holding his left hand across his middle, he other hand held the sword which was stuck into the floor to keep his from losing his balance. The gargoyle was already on Jake.
"Circle it, I'm alright" Jake said to Levi. He hoped this gargoyle didn't understand English, else he will be doomed earlier than he expected, "I should have taken off it's arm" Jake mused to himself.
"Jake duck" Levi shouted, but he didn't need to.
He was already in his feet and expecting the gargoyle, he bent as the gargoyle swiped at him and missed, Jake quickly rolled beneath it's legs trying to slash at it's feet, but it was as if it had expected that.
The gargoyle raised it's leg and almost stomped Jake to death as he rolled left and out of in between the gargoyle's legs.
The others had their hands full with the smaller demon, it flopped down in a flurry of wings and tried to yank their hairs completely out of their heads while tearing at them with it's claws and baring it's fangs.
Annabeth was now conscious of her arrows, she felt her quiver and she could only feel like seven or eight arrows in there, she couldn't afford to shoot any more arrows as there was still the gargoyle Levi and Jake were barely keeping up with.
Tony also hardly had up to that amount, he had fired off a lot when that had first run into this annoying little weasel.
Anna fingered her quiver and came up with another arrow, nocking it in her bow. Kayla stood behind Lisa staring in fright at the creature circling them above, looking for an opportunity to sweep in and leave it's claw print on bare skin.
Percy was livid with anger, the fear he once faced was over took in his anger. He kept his fists at his sides waiting for the right moment and he would make sure that this demon was ashes before it could hit the floor.
He knew he had to go help Jake and Levi but to do that he had to keep this demon out of his hair with a continuous attack and there was no way to do that while running towards where they were.
"Tony, why don't you go help them out instead. I'll keep this annoying pest out of your way with a continuous string of flames while you run to their aid"
"So, what do we do?" Tony asked him
"You run at my signal, then I will trace a string of fire as you run, if it tries to close in from the other side Anna will forward her arrows are it. So ready?"
Tony and Anna nodded "run" as Tony took a step, the demon was immediately on hi heels, swooping down to attack.
Percy lit the air with a wall of flames at once sending the demon back, from recent experience it had learnt to stay away from fires, especially one that was from the guy with a blonde hair.
It moved back, watching Tony run then it saw the other space, it turned and swooped in at once but Anna was nocked and ready she fired an arrow which the demon almost didn't see until it was too late.
It immediately fell back and out of the way.
