The power that had been locked away once was now awake.
Anna wouldn't let this vile beast run rampage anymore, throwing her hands to her front, the gargoyle with full speed slammed into an invisible solid wall and bounced back.
The intensity of the collision could have rendered a normal human unconscious but the gargoyle slowly picked itself up while staggering and bounded back to the invisible wall, it began to lash at it with it's fist and claws.
It banged so hard they could feel the trees around them vibrate, Anna could feel the shield weakening.
She tried with all her might to hold it together but the pounding was unrelenting.
"Anna!!" Percy shouted over the pounding, with his hands cooked around his side ready for combat.
"I'm kinda busy" Anna managed to shouted back between breaths, she was panting and almost starting to sweat.
"Can you open a little hole in your shield? Just large enough for me to get a fireball through"
"I don't think so" Anna replied in a strained voice, they had to quickly come up with a strategy else, their holding up would be all for nothing.
Just as the shield broke, Percy blasted a large ball of flame at the gargoyle's face, just at the same moment Jake who had crept up behind the gargoyle while it banged at the shield, raised his sword and with an aggressive swing cut off it's tail.
The howl of the gargoyle echoed throughout the length of the forest, it turned around and with a swipe of it's hand slapped Jake across the forest.
Percy was both shocked and confused, within the split second it took him to blast the gargoyle and Jake to cut off it's tail, the gargoyle hadn't shown any sign of pain.
The gargoyle continued to advance towards Anna, Percy and Lisa. Percy in an attempt to clear his doubt, fired another ball of fire probably his biggest yet at the gargoyle.
It simply walked through the fire without the slightest bit of concern.
It's red eyes were fixed on the little crew right ahead in fury and the short stump where it's tail had once been swished angrily.
The gargoyle didn't get tired or weary, it was just a soulless emissary of death.
With it's glowering red eyes towering over the them, it brought down a long bladed claw on Percy and Anna.
Lisa tried to push the gargoyle back with a bout of wind but it was barely working.
Tony stood rooted to the spot, a drawn arrow in his hand. Anna and Percy were also rooted to the spot.
Just at the last moment, Anna regained her composure and tried to weave a defensive web, but the claw would make contact faster than she would spin the web.
"Clang" the sound of keratin against steel rang in the air.
Percy looked to the floor and saw blood dripping from the creature in their front.
An already exhausted Levi with his sword raised above his head hunched forward blocking the attack of these claw just in time.
"Percy, get Kayla away from here" Levi croaked under the weight of the gargoyle
No way, I'm not-" Levi raised his hand and silenced him, he wasn't about to listen to him argue
"Percy!! Do you want to die. Even if you want to, save Kayla first.
She's the only one who can heal whatever remains of us after this battle. You can't use fire against the gargoyle, but you can use it to protect her."
Percy could hear the pain in Levi's voice, the gargoyle had dealt great damage to him and Jake.
He knew Levi was right but, how could he just leave them alone, to battle a level three demon.
"Take her, GO NOW!!!" Percy suddenly snapped out of his daze and flew to where Kayla squatted in fear, he raised her by her arm and turned to the surrounding trees.
The gargoyle was glaring down at Levi who had intercepted his attack, Levi used his two hands to block the attack, but he was still being easily overpowered, he sunk to his knees trying his best to stay woke.
The gargoyle slashed his other classes at Levi, he instinctively jumped out from under the claw and switched his up turned sword in an attempt to block the second attack, the impact of the hit shattered his sword and slashed him at his side. Levi dropped to the floor.
Suddenly the desire to live overcame the fear in their bodies. Anna could feel the blood flowing in her veins once again.
Tony's eyes were steeled and brimming with determination. As the gargoyle brought down it's feet on Levi , Jake slid across the grass simultaneously planting his sword in the gargoyle's leg and grabbing Levi.
The gargoyle stumbled back as green blood oozed from the gash in it's right feet. As it tried to regain it's balance Tony shot an arrow at it's eye, it caught it mid air and snapped the arrow in two.
"Tony" Anna shouted as she ran towards the gargoyle.
Tony immediately getting the message bent down to give her a boost, Lisa conjured a gust of wind adding momentum to Tony's boost.
Anna went high in the air and like an osprey honing in on a sighted prey, she dropped on the gargoyle.
The gargoyle made a mistake of looking up at whatever was dropping toward it because Anna plugged an arrow directly into it's eye socket.
The deafening roar of the gargoyle shook the entire forest, Anna trying to cover her ears with her hands fell off the gargoyle as it rocked back and forth in a fervent motion.
Tony took advantage of the situation and grabbed his bow and drew what seemed like an invisible arrow.
Closing his eyes, he reached into his depths, he collected the water particles in the air around his finger tips and with the help of the winter air he froze it.
Using his powers, he altered the shape of the water and made it into a two foot sharp arrow of ice, he nocked the instrument of death in his bow, steadied his arm and released. "Dodge this, you dumb beast"
