Tony had joined the fray, and things didn't seem to be looking up.
Jake and Levi were getting thrown all over the place than they were landing hits, Tony was not a short range fighter and his arrows hardly seemed to make any impact on the gargoyle, so he wasn't of much use to Levi and Jake.
"I have an idea" Anna said almost silently. " I will try to bring this demon down, once I do. Percy" she turned her head to him.
He nodded, fully understanding with a grim look in his eyes
"I will use a tracking arrow to impale the demon. Depending on when it hit, it might kill it instantly if not it should slow it's movements well enough for you to kill it"
"I thought you said you had to make contact for these things to work?" Percy asked
"Not now" Lisa snapped
"I said to track you had to make contact. This is an arrow and the demon is in plain sight" drawing her arrow to till it's feathers brushed her hair, she closed her eyes and involved the spell she had long learnt.
She tried with all her might to tap into the life energy that let's her access her power.
The power she had since locked away because of grief, the grief she had been forced to go through all over again when she tapped into that source, into the flow of life energy and made is of her power.
She closed her eyes And concentrated deeply "come on, come on" she chanted almost silently.
He hands went slack and her bow returned to it's usual length.
She could feel her knees go weak beneath her. She turned to look at Jake and Levi.
They'd been having a go at it for more than twenty minutes, just as she was looking the gargoyle smacked Levi into a nearby tree. Anna winced at the sound of a sickening thud at the impact of his body on the tree.
Jake turned over in concern, ignoring the gargoyle for a fraction of a second and a large wing slammed him into the dirt, his sword fell a little distance away, it took more than will power to hold his consciousness together.
Anna was frozen in shock. Percy tried to make his way to Levi and Jake but the little demon n swooped in on him, dodging the blast of fire he had released into the air.
Percy had to step back to stop it from tearing off his scalp.
Anna could feel a drop of tear roll down her cheek as she struggled to keep her leg from failing her, she had to save her friends but for some stupid reason she couldn't even is her magic.
She was always an embodiment of calmness but it was going to take more than will to stop the racking sobs that were about to overcome her.
Kayla could see Anna's despair through the calm look on her face which was obviously failing.
She walked to Anna squatted, keeping her eyes on the flying creature.
"Are you okay?" Kayla asked as she put her hands over Anna's shoulder.
Sniffing, Anna quickly wiped the tear that had rolled to her cheek and nodded at Kayla "I'm fine"
"Anna" she started "I'm scared, probably more scared than any of you because I can hardly do a thing to defend myself, but rather I trust you guys to protect me just the same way you trust me to heal you should anything happen.
But I've prepared my mind that at some point the situation can be harder than expected, just like this but still I still trust you guys.
I believe if we lose we lose as a team and we lose fighting but that doesn't make us less of a team.
If you are having a hard time, try to remember that we are in this together and even though the odds are slim we have to give it our all while having each other's backs, only then can we raise our heads in pride."
Kayla tried to placate Anna but looking at the gargoyle she wondered when exactly she was trying to convince that they had a chance, her legs were about to buckle from the sight of Levi and Jake groaning on the floor.
"Thanks Kayla. We have to get out of this alive and our friends need our help" with new confidence and determination, Anna held her chin up and drew her bow, she closed her eyes and called forth the calm center within, drawing forth all the power she could muster, she closed her eyes tighter and concentrated.
With a sudden snap inside, it felt like a dam had burst open inside her and out came it's flowing waters, she released her spell and the arrow was shrouded in an almost invisible blue light.
Opening her eyes, she pointed the arrow towards the small creature flying in lazy circles around them, pointing and locking in on her target she released the arrow.
The arrow sliced through the air with little effort, as it made it's way to it's target, the demon sighted the arrow before it was within meters of it and easily dodged the arrow, letting off it's shrieking laughter, the laughter seemed like a mocking laughter, those were too easy to dodge.
But had it been more observant it would have noticed something different about the arrow because just as it wheezed past it curved through an arc in the air and headed back towards the demon.
It glided so silently in the air the demon didn't see it until it was too late. It moved to dodge the arrow but not in time.
The demon howled in pain as the arrow sliced it's shoulder close to it's left wing causing the demon to stagger in midair amidst a howl of pain.
Then it began it's descent, the gar began to fall from the height of the trees. It realized before long that it was losing altitude, it began flapping it's wings frantically trying to perch on the nearest tree.
Lisa quickly sensing it's intentions funneled her hands toward the sky and created a high pressure vortex of sucking air, drawing the gar to the ground.
With the high pressure of air, the demon lost it's sense of direction, flapping madly in all directions as the wind brought it to the floor, just as you can't fight a wave it was soon out of strength and breath as it went like and let the wind take it's course before the gar made contact with the floor, it let out a blood curling scream as Percy made good his word, only ashes from what was once a living creature landed in the floor.
At the scream, the gargoyle turned from Levi who was trying to stay on his feet amidst his bloody face.
With a howl of anger, it flew towards the others in a blind rage.
