Chapter 41 - Chapter 41

Martha duly noticed the expression of the other werewolf of how it got startled and then she thought to herself, "What a moron! Doesn't even get sarcasm" She looked at Alpha and nodded her head. The Alpha too nodded slightly in agreement and turned to Benjamin. The Alpha said, "So Mister Benjamin Stewart, there is not really anything to discuss about. Like what I clarified earlier, we will stick to that only" Martha was less focused on what it said but more focused on how it was said.

It was peremptory in his speech. It was just not in a mood to entertain any sort of discussions.

It took more than usual time to register what it said since she was busy examining his unwillingness to debate on the matter Martha apparently had no idea about. She turned to look at her father and see what he is up to regarding this matter.

Benjamin kept looking at the floor below him until he finally raised his head and said, "You aptly understand I have not reached to the same conclusion to this agreement as yours Alpha" To this, Alpha raised his brows a bit and said,

"Does that matter anyway?" Benjamin, the moment after hearing this, said, rather yelled, "Of course it does! You cannot force your will upon us like that!" Martha got tensed upon hearing her father yell like that.

She became as vigilante as she could get since a physical assault could occur anytime now. She observed a movement at the staircase.

The werewolf standing resting on the baluster straightened up as it was not quite often for the Alpha to be yelled at like that

. The atmosphere got tensed.

Alpha remained calm; not really letting others know what was it up to; control his anger or arrive at some other conclusion or leave the scene.

The werewolf accompanying the alpha glared at Martha's father but chose to remain calm. It knew Alpha would not like anyone else speaking on its behalf.

The Alpha finally spoke calmly, "Ronan" – addressing the werewolf accompanying it –

"Take those agreement papers and keep them safe" Ronan readily acted on Alpha's orders and carried the papers upstairs.

Everybody there watched Ronan carry those papers as he climbed the stairs.

"What is it in those papers?" thought Martha. Benjamin let out an audible sigh and spoke again, "See Alpha, we know it is wrong on our part that we want to step back from this agreement. I can compensate for that in whatever way I could.

I can hand you over my entire wealth. But, just let us go" The tone of Benjamin was in total contrast to how he yelled earlier. He was rather pleading now.

He just wanted a way out of this hell. Cindy too didn't object as she knew even the entire wealth wouldn't suffice to compensate for the failure of the agreement. The Alpha smirked and responded to the plea, "I have spoken enough I guess.

What do you think? Your mere plea of calling off the entire agreement would be accepted just like that? You better keep your as well as your daughter's mouth shut or I am going to shove some burning coal inside the mouth of you two!" Though calm, the speech of the Alpha appeared sharp and stern.

Martha sealed her lips and made sure not to utter a word as going by the personality of Alpha, she understood it could literally suit his words to action.

More than herself, Martha cared for her parents and she does not want to inflict any sort of harm to her parents just because of herself.

Silence engulfed the moments that followed the last words of Alpha. Nobody said anything. Finally, the Alpha spoke again, "Okay I apologize for being rude" Ronan, by then, had gotten back after keeping those papers securely and stood at the same spot besides Alpha and then again got startled by the apology for Alpha.

As Martha took note of Ronan's expressions, she felt a state of unrest within her since every time Ronan would be startled at its master's statement, it is certain that Alpha is not being serious about the situation. Alpha continued, "Just for you, I am making this one last modification to the agreement.

We do not need your wealth, nor do we want to hold you as hostages here" Martha was partially relieved by what the Alpha just said yet was partly worried as she knew very well that demon wouldn't let go of them so easily.

Alpha continued, "Just fulfill the obligation on your part and I shall let you go" – Benjamin eyes widened, so did Cindy's – "Yes! Leave your daughter here and I shall let you two go"

Martha's face turned pale. Neither was she surprised nor was she horrified. She just couldn't imagine herself standing in that house for even a minute, let alone staying there and that too without her parents. But that was not Martha's concern at that point; to send her parents off and start living with these demons.

Martha herself didn't know what it was that bothered her. Is it the very idea of facing those demonic faces everyday that bothered her or maybe tolerating their evil smirk? Or listening to those heavy breathing sound which she disliked the very moment she got to hear it clearly from the very first time? She didn't know.

Simultaneously, Benjamin and Cindy were taken aback by what Alpha had just said.

They knew it was of no use to argue with the Alpha but they could not let that happen.

Both of them lost in their own selves, each trying to come up with something to convince Alpha to withdraw the statement. Martha still could not get clarity in her mind for what all was happening.

The Alpha took notice of the reaction of all three of the visitors to its house and spoke again,

"Your daughter Benjamin, would now act as per the terms of the agreements and henceforth would now serve me in whichever way I may ask" it completed his statement with a smirk. Martha could make out his intentions through the smirk and felt disgusted.
